Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Man Ivy Sherwood Is Secretly Meeting Is the Younger Uncle
Before a single syllable left her lips, the door to the private room was violently kicked open.
Ivy Sherwood didn’t even have time to stand up. She was still sitting on Quentin Blackwood’s lap, creating an incredibly intimate scene.
The person at the door saw this, and their pupils contracted in shock.
A furious voice immediately roared, "Ivy Sherwood, you bitch!"
"Am I dead to you, Silas Blackwood? How dare you sneak out behind my back and cheat on me with another man?"
Silas Blackwood had gotten a message from Sylvia Blackwood saying that Ivy Sherwood was here tonight with a man. He’d even heard they had already booked a room.
He had already made a fool of himself last night. After getting this news today, he was determined to catch them red-handed, giving Ivy Sherwood no chance to get away.
’Just as I thought! Ivy Sherwood really is cheating on me!’
The shock of Silas Blackwood’s appearance sobered Ivy Sherwood up by half.
She scrambled to her feet, shielding Quentin Blackwood so Silas Blackwood couldn’t see his face.
"Silas Blackwood, what the hell is wrong with you?"
Silas Blackwood strode in, grabbed Ivy Sherwood by the arm, and forcefully shoved her aside.
"Still trying to protect your lover?"
He was like a fire-breathing tyrannosaurus rex. "I caught you red-handed, and you’re still trying to deny it? I saw you sitting on his lap! Were you two kissing just now?"
"Let’s take this outside. Stop making a scene," Ivy Sherwood said, pulling at him.
’If Silas sees Quentin’s face, I’ll never be able to explain this.’
"Why should we go outside? Afraid I’ll see something you’ve done that can’t be exposed to the light of day?"
"Have you slept with him?"
Silas Blackwood’s voice boomed. He had already decided how he was going to curse her out, how he would humiliate her.
He even raised his hand, ready to strike.
"You rotten slu—"
"Silas Blackwood." A bone-chilling voice called out, and Silas’s hand froze mid-swing.
’Wait... Did I just hear my uncle’s voice?’
Quentin Blackwood pulled Ivy to his side. When Silas got a clear look at the face behind her, his pupils contracted violently.
His clothes weren’t the least bit disheveled. Sitting there, he looked as dignified and unmovable as a priceless Buddha statue.
Instantly, the room no longer felt like a private club suite, but more like some solemn assembly hall.
Silas Blackwood stumbled back a few steps as if he’d just seen a demon from hell, his mind exploding with a deafening roar.
He couldn’t believe that the "lover" he was looking for was actually...
"U-Uncle?"
’How could it be him?’
’Does that mean Uncle and Ivy...’
"What are you doing here?" Quentin Blackwood asked, flicking a lighter in his hand.
The orange glow of the flame cast shadows on Quentin Blackwood’s face, giving him a hazy, mysterious aura. The look in his eyes was growing more dangerous by the second.
"I..." Silas Blackwood didn’t know how to explain himself. Under Quentin Blackwood’s stare, it felt as if something was caught in his throat.
"Speak!"
"Someone told me Ivy Sherwood was here meeting a man in secret. Uncle, I had no idea it would be you."
The flame in the man’s hand died. A second later, he ignited it again with a sharp CLICK.
The sound made Silas Blackwood’s heart leap into his throat.
"What are you implying? That I’m having a secret rendezvous with Ivy Sherwood?"
"Of course not! I didn’t mean that at all!" After the lesson he’d learned the day before, Silas Blackwood knew better than to provoke the man standing before him.
His father had warned him time and again: if he angered Quentin Blackwood again, he could forget about coming home to the Blackwood Family.
"Uncle, there must be a misunderstanding here."
Ivy Sherwood walked over to Silas Blackwood. "Silas, I don’t know where you heard that rumor, but whoever told you is certainly resourceful. They even knew I was here."
"I’m here to discuss a business partnership. Uncle is just here for a night out. We just happened to run into each other. I don’t think I need to point out who’s the one actually sneaking around and cheating every day, do I?"
Silas Blackwood shot back, "Ivy Sherwood! Who knows what ’methods’ you use to ’discuss partnerships.’ You can dream on, but do you really think anyone would want you? Looking like you do? Any man who’d take you would have to be either a pervert or utterly desperate for a woman..."
"Is that so?" Ivy Sherwood turned to Quentin Blackwood and blinked her beautiful eyes. "Uncle, what do you think? Is the man who wants me a pervert, or just crazy desperate for a woman?"
Quentin Blackwood: "..."
However, Silas Blackwood missed the silent exchange in their eyes. He’d already thought it through last night. If even *he* looked down on a woman like Ivy Sherwood, how could his uncle possibly be interested in her?
’Ivy must have tried to seduce Uncle, but he turned her down!’
"Ivy Sherwood, stop dragging my uncle into this! I’m telling you, sooner or later, I’ll catch you in the act!"
"You’re disgusting, Silas Blackwood."
Just saying the word "disgusting" brought back the wave of nausea she had been holding back.
Something churned in her stomach, and unable to hold it back any longer, Ivy Sherwood turned toward Silas Blackwood and vomited with a loud "BLECH!"
Silas Blackwood had no time to dodge. The alcohol she’d drunk spewed all over him.
Silas Blackwood swore he had never experienced anything so disgusting in his entire life.
Ivy Sherwood had drunk so much that her stomach couldn’t hold it, and now she couldn’t stop throwing up.
His shirt and trousers were soaked, clinging tightly to his skin.
In that moment, he wanted to strangle Ivy Sherwood.
"I-VY! SHER-WOOD!" he roared like a T-rex, his voice seething with rage from between clenched teeth.
After she finished vomiting, Ivy Sherwood’s stomach felt a wave of relief.
She had been feeling sick the whole time, her stomach churning uncomfortably, but she hadn’t been able to throw up in the restroom earlier.
’Come to think of it, perhaps the only use for Silas Blackwood’s face is that it’s disgusting enough to make someone vomit everything up.’
"Silas Blackwood, can I call you next time I drink too much? I’ve discovered that seeing your face makes it incredibly easy to puke my guts out."
Silas Blackwood’s expression turned foul. ’What does she mean by that? Is she praising me or insulting me?’
"Just you wait!" Silas Blackwood spat out the threat, then turned and fled without looking back.
He felt like he was suffocating. ’That woman... I’ll get her back for this one day!’
Ivy Sherwood felt a rush of satisfaction. But when she turned her head, she saw Quentin Blackwood was still sitting there.
Quentin Blackwood’s expression didn’t look too good either. When he stood up and started walking toward the door, Ivy Sherwood suspected she might have disgusted him.
’What I just did was a little...’ Ivy Sherwood didn’t even dare to replay the scene in her mind.
"I’m sorry, Uncle. I really couldn’t hold it in just now." ’It’s like a cough,’ she thought, ’impossible to control.’
’The truth was, she hadn’t wanted to control it. In fact, her only regret was that she hadn’t thrown up more.’
A bottle of water was held out in front of her. Ivy Sherwood froze for a second.
Her clear, slightly moist eyes looked up at Quentin Blackwood in disbelief.
"Rinse." The man’s voice was as cold and devoid of warmth as ever, but that single word felt like a brand, searing itself onto Ivy Sherwood’s heart.
’It seemed Quentin Blackwood wasn’t disgusted by her.’
"Thank you." Ivy Sherwood took it, feeling as though she were holding something far more precious than a simple bottle of water.
"I’m going to the restroom to freshen up." With that, Ivy Sherwood hurried out of the private room. She went to the restroom and rinsed her mouth, but she didn’t drink from the bottle Quentin Blackwood had given her. Instead, she just clutched it in her hand.
’It would be a total waste to use this water for rinsing her mouth. She was going to take it home and build a shrine for it!’
Ivy Sherwood composed herself and stepped out of the restroom, where she found the club manager from earlier waiting with a bowl of sobering soup.
"Miss Sherwood, you’re probably feeling unwell from the alcohol. Please, drink this soup. It will help you sober up."
"Did Quentin ask you to bring this?"
The manager just smiled without answering.
’So, when the manager had Gabriel Walker thrown out earlier, that must have been on Quentin Blackwood’s orders too.’
"Where’s Quentin?" Ivy Sherwood asked.
"I don’t know."
Ivy Sherwood gulped down the sobering soup. When she returned to the private room, only the cleaning staff were left. Quentin Blackwood was gone.
Once the staff finished cleaning the mess she had made, Ivy Sherwood finally left the club.
On the third floor, three tall men watched in unison as Ivy Sherwood left the building.
Julian Grant’s face was alight with gossip. "Graham, you missed a hell of a show taking that phone call. You have no idea, Quentin..."
Before Julian Grant could finish, he was cut off by a warning glare from Quentin Blackwood.
Julian Grant didn’t dare to say another word. ’So much juicy gossip, and I can’t even talk about it,’ he thought.
"What happened just now?"
’Just now, Third Master Blackwood was being so impossibly cool and domineering. The way he protected Ivy Sherwood was just like a man protecting his wife. And after throwing that guy out, he personally took Ivy into the private room to "teach her a lesson." Although I couldn’t hear what kind of "lesson" it was, I can definitely imagine.’
’And then Silas Blackwood showed up and definitely got a dressing-down from Quentin, because he looked like he was about to cry when he came out. He looked as pathetic as could be.’
’And then when Quentin finally came out, he even had someone send sobering soup to Ivy. If you told me there was nothing going on between those two, I wouldn’t believe it for a second!’
However, under Quentin Blackwood’s threatening gaze, this was a speech Julian Grant only dared to make in his head.
In response to Graham Sherwood’s curious stare, Julian Grant could only say a single word: "Nothing."
’Third Master Blackwood really is something else,’ Julian thought. ’Making a move on his own nephew’s woman! Truly extraordinary!’
