Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Her Hand Seemed to Have Landed on Someone’s Crotch
Nina Scott soon came to pick up Ivy Sherwood, and together, they boarded a plane to Aethelgard.
Ivy Sherwood had been to Aethelgard before, but this time she was particularly nervous.
"Nina, are you sure you want me to be your model?"
"It’s a desperate time calling for desperate measures. That’s not what I mean... what I mean is, you’re the only one who can save me now. Your look is absolutely perfect. Please, I’m begging you, help me," Nina Scott said, putting on a pitiful expression.
"In that case, I’ll watch some videos of runway shows," Ivy Sherwood said.
She’d never walked a runway before and was terrified of ruining things for Nina Scott, so she decided to cram.
The fashion show was the following evening, so they planned to rest for the night after arriving.
There wasn’t much time, so Ivy could only learn the basics. At five-foot-seven, she was admittedly a bit shorter than the five-foot-eleven models, but she had an excellent figure and looked quite tall and slender.
Nina Scott brought out an outfit for Ivy to try on. The moment Ivy emerged after changing, Nina was stunned.
"Stunning. You’re absolutely stunning, Ivy!"
Ivy Sherwood was a natural clothes horse; she made everything she wore look good.
It was a difficult outfit to pull off, but on Ivy, it looked as if it had been tailor-made for her. She was even more beautiful than a fairy stepping out of a comic book.
"Really? I’m afraid I can’t project the right kind of aura." It wasn’t that Ivy lacked confidence; she had just never done this kind of work before.
"You’re selling yourself short. Just like this. It’s perfect!" Nina Scott gushed.
Ivy Sherwood needed to wear a total of three outfits for the show. After trying them all on, Nina Scott made some alterations based on Ivy’s figure.
Nina Scott was busy, while Ivy Sherwood was a bit nervous. The two of them barely slept all night.
But they didn’t know that in the presidential suite upstairs, Thea Sherwood, who had been taken to a top-tier restaurant by Charlie Rhodes, had returned to the hotel room with him.
The moment they walked through the door, Charlie Rhodes pulled her into a kiss. What happened next went without saying.
Once Charlie Rhodes was satisfied, he said to Thea, "Baby, there’s a show tomorrow night. Why don’t you come with me?"
Thea Sherwood pouted coquettishly. "What kind of show? You’ve completely worn me out. I don’t want to move a muscle."
Cradling her, Charlie Rhodes said, "It’s a world-class show. Not just anyone can get in. A lot of big names will be there, too. Didn’t you say your company is looking to expand? This is a golden opportunity. If you can land a partnership with any of these people, your company’s performance will be set for the entire year."
Thea, who had just been feeling disgusted by Charlie Rhodes, immediately perked up. "Really?"
The gears in Thea’s mind started turning. ’If there are really that many influential people there, maybe I’ll find someone even richer than Charlie Rhodes. If I can hook one of them, I can finally kick this old man to the curb!’
’He’s old and ugly, his skin is all saggy, and he’s completely useless in bed.’
’Whenever they were together, Thea had to fight back her nausea.’
’Especially when he kissed her. She felt like she was going to vomit.’
Thea was thrilled. ’So there really is a shortcut into high society.’
...
「The next day arrived quickly.」 Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott were backstage at the venue.
Although the show was in the evening, they had to start preparing at noon.
After getting everything else in order, Nina Scott personally handled Ivy’s makeup. Ivy was so naturally beautiful that she barely needed any makeup at all to look absolutely divine.
’A single flutter of those long lashes could capture countless hearts. If she ever stepped into the public spotlight, she’d have everyone completely mesmerized.’
Every time Nina saw Ivy’s face, she couldn’t help but marvel at her beauty.
"Ivy, you’re definitely going to be the center of attention tonight!"
But Ivy had no desire to be the center of attention. Wondering if there was a way to cover her face, her eyes landed on a silk scarf nearby.
"Nina, can you hand me that silk scarf?"
Nina brought the scarf over. Ivy folded it, then tied it just below the bridge of her nose, veiling the lower half of her face.
"Nina, can I go out like this?" Ivy asked, her eyes lifting to meet Nina’s.
Nina was so surprised she was momentarily speechless.
The scarf was thin and translucent. Draped across Ivy’s face, it revealed only her expressive eyes, which were now even more captivating. Far from concealing her beauty, the scarf added an air of mystery, sparking the imagination.
’Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!’
Not only did the scarf not detract from Ivy’s looks, but it was also the icing on the cake. It would obscure her stunning face, preventing anyone from getting a clear look at her.
She could be an ephemeral vision on the runway. Afterwards, she could take off the scarf and go back to being herself. No one would know who she was, and she wouldn’t attract any unwanted trouble.
"Yes! Absolutely! Ivy, you’re a hidden gem!"
If Ivy weren’t already wearing makeup, Nina would have kissed her on the spot.
"Ivy, I’m going to go check on things out front. Just follow the other two models when it’s your turn," Nina instructed.
"Okay." Ivy nodded. She looked at herself in the mirror, still a little nervous.
The venue tonight was massive. She had seen the stage and lighting, and they were absolutely perfect.
’I just wonder what kind of important people will be here. I don’t know anyone important... The only one I do know is still back in Lustre.’
’The one thing I can be sure of is that Quentin Blackwood definitely isn’t here.’
’As long as he isn’t here, I won’t be so nervous.’
...
Nina Scott walked from the backstage area toward the front of the house. A huge crowd had shown up today.
The show was about to start, and almost everyone had taken their seats. Many were bigwigs from the fashion world, and some were titans of the business world.
Her seat was on the other side, so Nina had to make her way through the crowd.
Thea Sherwood sat with Charlie Rhodes. She was wearing exquisite makeup and a haute couture dress. She had come with a goal in mind, and naturally, she needed to showcase her best assets to attract attention.
When she saw Nina Scott, a flash of surprise crossed Thea’s eyes, followed by a hint of mockery.
’Isn’t that Ivy Sherwood’s best friend?’
’If she’s here, does that mean Ivy came too?’
Thea glanced around but didn’t see Ivy. ’Right, this woman is in fashion, so it’s not strange for her to be here. Ivy probably didn’t come.’
’But I don’t like Ivy, and I don’t like her best friend, either.’
Nina didn’t notice Thea as she carefully tried to pass by.
Seeing Nina approach, Thea deliberately stuck out her leg. Nina had checked that the path was clear, so she was completely caught off guard when a leg suddenly appeared in her way, tripping her.
She stumbled forward, right into the crowded aisle. She ended up falling against someone’s legs, her own knees hitting the floor.
The legs belonged to a man wearing suit trousers.
Nina put out a hand to catch herself, only to realize with horror where it had landed. She seemed to have planted her hand right on someone’s crotch...
