Chapter 152: Chapter 152: She Wants Mrs. Blackwood’s Position
Ivy Sherwood remembered what Thea Sherwood had said—that Timothy Sherwood and the Blackwood Family had already set their wedding date.
Ivy Sherwood spun the steering wheel, making a U-turn and heading in a completely different direction.
The car soon stopped at the Sherwood Residence Entrance. The servant who opened the door saw Ivy Sherwood and hesitated, unsure whether to let her in.
Then, Timothy Sherwood’s voice came from inside: "Let her in."
This was the first time Ivy Sherwood had returned to the Sherwood Residence since the incident with Thea Sherwood.
During this time, Timothy Sherwood had grown quite haggard; none of his former arrogance remained.
"Have a seat." Timothy Sherwood gestured to the sofa in front of him.
"No. I have something to say, and I’ll leave as soon as I’ve said it."
Timothy Sherwood looked at Ivy before him. ’Ivy’s temperament... it’s so much like hers.’
Before Ivy Sherwood could speak, Timothy Sherwood said, "I’ve been dreaming a lot lately. I keep dreaming about your mom. She says I haven’t taken good care of you."
As Timothy Sherwood looked at Ivy Sherwood, his gaze softened, as if he were seeing someone else through her.
Ivy Sherwood sneered. "What right do you have to dream of her?"
She didn’t even feel Timothy Sherwood had the right to mention her mother. He was the one who had the affair, after all.
"I know you think I wronged your mother, but things aren’t at all what you think they are. Your mother and I... we were never..."
Timothy Sherwood seemed to want to say something, but he swallowed his words.
There was too much history between him and Yvonne Summers; it couldn’t be explained in just a sentence or two.
Besides, he and Yvonne Summers had an agreement. Some things were to be taken to the grave, to rot in his bones, but never to be spoken.
Timothy Sherwood held back and said, "This marriage was arranged by your mother. She found this good family for you. If you don’t agree to this marriage, why don’t you go to the family hall and ask your mother if she’d allow it!"
"Don’t you dare use my mother as an excuse. If Mom were still alive, she would respect my wishes. All she ever wanted was for me to be happy!"
Although Ivy Sherwood didn’t have many memories of her mother, she remembered her mother holding her as a child, hoping she could live the life she wanted.
But Ivy Sherwood still couldn’t understand why her mother would have arranged this marriage for her.
"Timothy Sherwood, I won’t be going to any wedding dress fitting, nor will I show up on the date you’ve set." Ivy Sherwood calmed down. "How about we make a deal?"
"The Sherwood Company is in Thea Sherwood’s hands now. You’ve been sidelined by her and her mother, haven’t you? And even with Claire Sherwood, when she returns, do you think she’ll help you, or will she help Ruby Sterling?"
"Help me call off the marriage to the Blackwood Family, and I’ll help you take back the Sherwood Company. How about it?"
Timothy Sherwood stared at her. "What nonsense are you spouting? The Sherwood Company... you think you can take it back?"
He couldn’t even take it back himself, let alone Ivy Sherwood.
"You have nothing to lose with this deal. Otherwise, are you just going to watch as your life’s work is ruined by Thea Sherwood?"
Of course, Timothy Sherwood wasn’t going to let Thea Sherwood do as she pleased, which was why he needed the Blackwood Family’s help.
He said in a cold voice, "The end of next month. The date has been set. You will go through with this marriage, whether you want to or not!"
"Also, it doesn’t really matter whether you go to the wedding dress fitting tomorrow or not. This marriage is set in stone."
The deal having failed, Ivy Sherwood left the Sherwood Residence.
She refused to believe she couldn’t fight her fate. She would not believe this marriage couldn’t be called off!
This was the new millennium, not ancient times where marriages were dictated by parents and matchmakers. Were they going to knock her out and force her to get married?
...
Silas Blackwood spent the next few days at Anna Nash’s place. He enjoyed being doted on by her; it was comfortable.
With Anna Nash, he regained his sense of masculine pride.
Early the next morning, Silas Blackwood got out of bed. Anna Nash wrapped her arms around his waist, clinging to him. "Silas, why are you up so early? Stay and sleep with me a little longer."
"I have things to do today. My father is making me go."
Anna Nash knew he was going to a wedding dress fitting with Ivy Sherwood today.
’That Ivy Sherwood... what did she do to deserve such good fortune!’
Anna Nash wanted to hold onto Silas Blackwood and keep him from going, but for some reason, he insisted.
"The person I love is you! What does going to a wedding dress fitting with Ivy Sherwood have to do with anything? You’re supposed to be the understanding one. I don’t want to marry Ivy Sherwood either! This whole thing is frustrating me, but what can I do? My dad arranged it, didn’t he?" Silas Blackwood snapped.
Anna Nash didn’t expect Silas Blackwood to be so agitated. Moreover, it was the first time he had ever raised his voice at her.
Anna Nash’s eyes instantly reddened. She lowered her head, her voice utterly pathetic. "I understand. I won’t be a bother to you."
Seeing Anna Nash like this, Silas Blackwood’s heart softened. He hugged her and said, "That’s not what I meant. I’m just a little stressed. You’re the one who understands me best, and you know how I feel about you, so please don’t act out, okay?"
In truth, Silas Blackwood was deeply frustrated, but not because of Anna Nash. It was because of Ivy Sherwood.
He could have chosen not to go, but for some reason, he wanted to. He wanted to see that woman, Ivy Sherwood.
’He must be going crazy. He was always thinking about Ivy Sherwood lately. Even during intimate moments with Anna Nash, Ivy’s face would pop into his mind.’
Then, a surge of anger would rise in his chest, and he would take it all out on Anna Nash, venting his frustrations on her all the more forcefully.
The thought of seeing Ivy Sherwood today actually made Silas Blackwood feel a little happy.
That was why he had gotten up so early: to get ready and make sure that the moment Ivy Sherwood saw him, she wouldn’t be able to look away.
"I know, it was my fault. I was being unreasonable," Anna Nash murmured, hiding her face in Silas Blackwood’s embrace.
’Me, unreasonable? What kind of bullshit was Silas talking?’
’Silas was never like this before.’ A sense of crisis exploded in Anna Nash’s heart.
But right now, she didn’t dare say anything. She could only look up pitifully, her eyes red. "Silas, can I go with you?"
"Don’t worry. You two can try on your wedding attire, and I’ll just watch from the side. I absolutely won’t disturb you. I just want to see you in your suit. I don’t want to miss a single moment of you. Silas, I like you so, so much. Even though I know you’re getting married and we shouldn’t have this kind of relationship anymore, I can’t help but secretly love you."
Silas Blackwood wiped her tears away. "What nonsense is this? Even if I get married, I’ll still be with you. My little fool, don’t cry anymore."
Anna Nash said, "But I don’t want you to get married. You said you would marry me."
Silas Blackwood paused. "You know as well as I do that marrying Ivy Sherwood is my father’s idea. Once he’s set his mind on something, there’s nothing I can do."
Anna Nash’s gaze flickered. ’Before, Silas Blackwood would have said he’d die before marrying Ivy Sherwood. He would have said he was going to marry *her*.’
’She had only been locked up for a month. How had Silas Blackwood changed so much?’
’She couldn’t act too hastily, or he would grow to resent her. She refused to be a mistress for the rest of her life. The position she was aiming for was Mrs. Blackwood!’
