Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Cuckolded and Caught Red-Handed

The private room on the second floor had quite a few people in it. Gabriel Walker sat in the middle, already flanked by two skimpily dressed women.

His lecherous gaze landed on Ivy Sherwood’s chest, the smile plastered on his face greasy and disgusting.

’This Ivy Sherwood,’ he thought. ’She might not be much of a looker, but her figure is obviously stacked. Her clothes are conservative, but I’ve seen and touched countless women; I can tell at a glance if her breasts are real or fake.’

’The best part is, I heard this woman is connected to the Blackwood Family. If I could get Silas Blackwood’s woman into bed, man, what a rush that would be.’

"Let’s keep drinking! You’re Ivy Sherwood, right? I didn’t expect you to hold your liquor so well."

Ivy Sherwood fought back her discomfort. She had already had a lot to drink. She had just stepped out for some fresh air before Gabriel Walker dragged her back in.

"President Walker, about the contract... why don’t we sign it first, and then we can drink?"

Ivy Sherwood brought the contract over, but Gabriel Walker tossed it aside. "What’s the rush? Didn’t I say we drink first? If you finish these few glasses, I’ll sign."

Ivy Sherwood looked at the drinks before her. "President Walker, are you serious?"

"Of course."

Ivy Sherwood picked up a glass without hesitation and downed the hard liquor as if it were water.

She hadn’t eaten much all day, and now a burning sensation seared her stomach.

"President Walker, please honor your promise." Ivy Sherwood handed him the pen.

However, Gabriel Walker didn’t take the pen. Instead, he reached out and stroked Ivy Sherwood’s hand.

"Your hands are well-maintained. So fair and delicate."

Then he glanced at Ivy Sherwood’s face. ’Tsk,’ he thought. ’Her face is the only letdown—sallow and plain.’

Ivy Sherwood felt like she was going to be sick. She pulled her hand away. "President Walker, I’ve already explained the pros and cons of partnering with us, as well as our future strategic direction. Signing this contract will only benefit your company."

’It was true,’ he mused. ’Ivy Sherwood had sent the report to his company that afternoon, and he’d already read it. It was extremely comprehensive and well-thought-out—worlds better than any of the other proposals they’d received.’

’But he wanted more than just that.’

"Plenty of people want to work with our Walker Group. Why should we choose you?"

"But you just said you’d sign it if I drank."

"I did say that, but there’s no rush. I’ve booked a room over there. Why don’t we go and have a nice, long chat? As long as you take good care of me, I can give the Sherwood Company not just next quarter’s business, but next year’s. What do you say?"

Gabriel Walker’s smile grew even more perverse, while the smile on Ivy Sherwood’s face slowly faded.

Ivy Sherwood leaned in close to Gabriel Walker’s ear. He thought she was about to kiss him and leaned in even closer. To an outsider, it looked like they were whispering intimately.

Ivy Sherwood suppressed her churning stomach, her voice ice-cold.

"President Walker, your wife probably doesn’t know you booked a room nearby, does she? Also, a few days ago, one of your little mistresses came to you, pregnant. The baby should still be in her belly, right? I also have some photos of you. If you don’t want your wife to find out, sign the contract."

"You..." Gabriel Walker’s expression changed.

His company’s success was largely thanks to his wife; her family was wealthy.

Moreover, his wife was a formidable and extremely possessive woman. The more she tried to control him, the more Gabriel Walker liked to mess around on the side, relying on his money to smooth everything over. As a result, his wife was kept in the dark about many things.

"So, what will it be? I have videos, too. I’m sure your esteemed wife would be very interested."

"Are you threatening me?" Gabriel Walker’s face was grim. His wife absolutely could not find out about this, but being threatened made him feel incredibly stifled.

"How can you call this a threat? At most, it’s a collaboration, a transaction. As long as you sign, President Walker, I’ll pretend I never saw a thing."

"You fucking..."

Before Gabriel Walker could finish, the door to the private room was kicked open.

"This floor has been booked. You all need to leave now." The speaker was the manager.

"Do you have any idea who I am? How dare you tell me to leave?"

"I don’t care who you are." The manager had brought security with him. With a wave of his hand, he ordered, "Throw him out!"

The boss’s orders were clear: get the man on the second floor out, and don’t be polite. Don’t even bother with a scuffle, just toss him out.

"Hey! You... you people...! I won’t let you get away with this! You’re just some small-time club! You’ve offended the Carter Group, you’re dead!"

Gabriel Walker was furious. He was entertaining guests here today, and now it looked like that deal was off.

The manager had an expression that said "suit yourself." And just like that, Gabriel Walker was dragged away by security and thrown out of the club, looking as pathetic as could be.

"Hey, President Walker, you haven’t signed the contract!" Ivy Sherwood chased after him with the contract in hand, but a wave of nausea churned in her stomach. Overcome, she stopped and ran towards the restrooms.

’I was so close,’ she thought. ’Gabriel Walker was wavering, about to sign. And now it was all for nothing.’

Ivy Sherwood felt horribly nauseous, but she couldn’t throw up. The feeling was trapped in her stomach, an indescribable misery.

Not far away, Julian Grant stood beside Quentin Blackwood. He could feel the temperature around Quentin drop by several degrees.

Although that icy face showed no expression, Julian Grant could just tell that Quentin Blackwood was furious right now.

Especially at that moment when they had kicked open the door and seen that President What’s-his-name getting intimate with the girl, face to face. That was when Julian Grant felt Quentin Blackwood’s gaze could kill.

’At first, I thought Quentin was doing it for the girl,’ he reflected. ’But then she turned her head and I saw her face. It was as plain as could be. All my fantasies shattered.’

’I thought some great beauty had made Quentin jealous, but it looks like I was mistaken.’

But Quentin Blackwood’s gaze remained fixed on the woman. Julian Grant felt that they must know each other.

"Quentin, do you know her?"

Quentin Blackwood spoke, his words clipped. "Silas Blackwood’s fiancée."

"No wonder," Julian Grant said in surprise. "So, was she about to cheat on your nephew?"

’But doesn’t Quentin hate the Blackwood Family? Why would he help Silas? Wouldn’t it be better to just watch Silas get cheated on?’

But when he looked up at Quentin Blackwood again, the dim light cast across the man’s features, his face terrifyingly grim.

It seemed that the very mention of being cheated on had made Quentin Blackwood’s glare even more frightening.

’What’s going on here?’ Julian wondered. ’Why does he look like *he’s* the one who just caught his partner cheating?’
