Chapter 126: Chapter 126: The Gossip Is About Me

Luckily, Silas Blackwood didn’t notice the strange tone in Ivy Sherwood’s voice. He said, "My uncle’s woman went on a blind date. Did you know about this?"

"Huh?" Ivy Sherwood was stunned.

’His uncle’s... woman?’

"What ’huh’? I’m asking you a question," Silas Blackwood said impatiently.

Ivy Sherwood asked dazedly, "Your uncle has a woman?"

Hearing her question, Silas Blackwood felt like he was suffocating. "Forget it, forget it. I knew you wouldn’t know anything. Asking you was a waste of time."

He knew Ivy Sherwood was clueless. If he, the nephew, couldn’t get any information about the woman out of Quentin Blackwood, how could someone as insignificant as Ivy possibly know?

"What woman? Where was the blind date?" Ivy Sherwood asked.

A bold thought suddenly struck her. ’The woman he’s talking about... it couldn’t be me, could it?’

"You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? I can’t be bothered with this nonsense."

With that, Silas Blackwood hung up. He then turned to Caleb Blackwood and said, "Ivy Sherwood doesn’t know anything either. She even tried to find out from me who our uncle’s woman is. What an idiot."

Caleb Blackwood had no time to worry about Ivy Sherwood now; he was already having someone investigate this woman.

After the call ended, Ivy Sherwood’s heart still wouldn’t calm down. She bit her lip, unable to focus on a single report in front of her.

She had accompanied Nina Scott on a blind date today, but the man had mistaken her for Nina and ended up chatting with her for a bit.

If that were all, she wouldn’t have suspected it was about her. But Julian Grant just had to be there to see it. Last time, Julian had misunderstood her relationship with Quentin Blackwood and had her sent to Norhaven. ’Could he have sent Quentin some crazy message this time, too?’

’Surely not... But then again, Quentin doesn’t seem to have any other woman.’

’Is this what it feels like when the gossip is about you?’

’But how did Silas Blackwood find out about this?’

’It must be a mistake. Or maybe Quentin Blackwood doesn’t even care?’

’A mistake. It has to be a mistake!’

’Should I send Quentin Blackwood a message to test the waters?’

Ivy Sherwood hesitated over Quentin Blackwood’s number for a long time before composing a text message.

After some thought, she deleted the message and sent one to Julian Grant instead.

"Mr. Grant, about seeing me at the restaurant today—you haven’t mentioned it to anyone else, have you?" Texting Julian Grant felt much less stressful for Ivy Sherwood.

Little did Ivy Sherwood know, Julian Grant was having drinks with Quentin Blackwood at that very moment.

Seeing the text from Ivy, Julian passed his phone over. "Look, your woman is asking about me."

Then he looked at Quentin Blackwood. "So you didn’t have your company’s people keep it a secret because you wanted everyone to know?"

"Practically all the elites in Lustre know about it now. You didn’t do this on purpose to let everyone know you have a woman, did you?"

Quentin Blackwood’s long, slender fingers swirled the wine in his glass, the red liquid within seeming to transform into a work of art.

He tilted his head back, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he downed the wine in one go.

After drinking, Quentin Blackwood finally spoke. "You’re overthinking it. Why would I do that?"

"How should I know why you do what you do? We can never figure you out," Julian Grant said, texting Ivy Sherwood back as he spoke to Quentin.

"Want to know? Why don’t you come ask me in person." Then Julian Grant sent Ivy Sherwood the address of the club where they were drinking.

Ivy Sherwood stared at the words. ’It’s just one question, there’s no need to ask in person. It’s just a one-sentence answer.’

’Julian Grant is telling me to go over. Does he have something he needs to say?’

Just as Ivy Sherwood’s mind was racing, she received a call from Nina Scott.

"Ivy, I have a secret to share with you!" Nina Scott sounded impatient.

"What’s wrong? You went back to the Scott Family. They didn’t give you a hard time, did they?"

After the blind date, Ivy Sherwood had parted ways with Nina Scott. They had just finished eating when the Scott Family called and summoned Nina back.

Ivy had been worried at the time. ’This is definitely going to be a criticism session. That Sean Judson must have gone to complain. If Nina goes back, she’s in for it.’

Nina Scott herself, however, didn’t seem to care. She was very casual about it. It wasn’t like she hadn’t been yelled at before.

It would be the usual—them saying she was immature, not even half as good as Yara Scott, then going on about how sensible Yara was, with Yara herself adding a few snide remarks from the side.

She knew the whole routine by heart.

That Sean Judson really was garbage. It had clearly been his fault, yet he’d returned and deliberately embellished the story to put all the blame on Nina.

Nina didn’t want Ivy to worry, so she said, "Give me a hard time? You know me. Who can give me a hard time?"

"Let me tell you, didn’t Cheryl Yates used to look down on Yara Scott? Yara would suck up to her every day and get nowhere. But since coming back from the resort, Yara and Cheryl seem to be on pretty good terms."

"And just now, Cheryl was on the phone with Yara, and I overheard that Quentin Blackwood’s girlfriend apparently went on a blind date behind his back."

Ivy Sherwood: "..."

’It was one thing for Silas Blackwood to know, but how did it reach Nina Scott’s ears too?’

’Does this mean everyone knows now?’

’How on earth did this get out?!’

Originally, Ivy Sherwood hadn’t planned on going to the place Julian Grant mentioned. But now, it seemed she had to go and ask him properly.

"Ivy, why don’t you sound surprised at all?" Nina Scott asked, hearing no reaction from her.

"Huh? I am surprised! I... how could this happen? This is unbelievable," Ivy Sherwood said, feigning extreme shock.

Nina saw right through her. "Ivy, you are being so fake right now."

"But this girlfriend of Quentin Blackwood’s, could she be his fiancée?" Nina wondered curiously.

Ivy Sherwood said, "He doesn’t have a fiancée."

Nina looked at her. "And you know this how?"

"I found a chance to ask him last time. He said he doesn’t have a fiancée."

"Are you naive? What if he was just denying it?" Anyway, Nina didn’t trust men.

Ivy Sherwood said, "I believe him. He’s different from other men. If he says he doesn’t, then he doesn’t."

"Ivy, don’t tell me you’ve been charmed by Quentin Blackwood. You’re actually defending him."

"I haven’t. My head is perfectly clear. I just don’t think he’s that kind of person."

"Forget it, that’s not important. Whether he has a fiancée or not has nothing to do with us." Nina didn’t dwell on it. "But what I heard is that the person who sent him the message literally said ’your girlfriend.’ That means Quentin Blackwood does have a woman, right?"

Ivy Sherwood: "..."

’On this matter, she probably had the right to speak. This was a complete misunderstanding.’

"But what I find strange is, if that woman is already with Quentin Blackwood, why would she still go on a blind date?"

This was what Nina Scott couldn’t figure out for the life of her, and she was still analyzing the situation.

"Could it be that Quentin Blackwood is a scumbag and doesn’t want to marry her?"

"Or maybe Quentin Blackwood is all show and no go, and she’s not satisfied, so she’s looking elsewhere?"
