Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Rumors of Quentin Blackwood’s Woman Swirl
’Ivy Sherwood wants to get married?’
Quentin Blackwood tapped his fingers on the table. ’She’ll have to see if I agree to it!’
This was a woman who had slept with him, after all. ’How could her taste be so terrible?’
Quentin Blackwood watched the video three times. The man was short, fat, and balding. ’What on earth does Ivy Sherwood see in him?’
He sounded like a total chauvinist. He wasn’t even mediocre; he was utter trash.
’But that double splash of water at the end was a nice touch.’ Nina Scott must have gone with Ivy Sherwood. Those two were practically joined at the hip.
Blaming it all on Seth Scott’s terrible idea for Ivy Sherwood, Quentin Blackwood immediately called Zane Linton.
"The Scott Group has had it too easy lately. Put some pressure on them. Give the new heir something to do."
Zane Linton understood Quentin Blackwood’s meaning perfectly. "Yes, President Blackwood."
’Hadn’t Mr. Scott just been discussing business with President Blackwood not long ago? How had he offended him?’
After giving the order, Quentin Blackwood sent a message to Julian Grant. "Delete the video on your phone. And contact the restaurant. Have them delete their surveillance footage of this, too."
Julian Grant called him immediately. "Why? Why delete everything?"
"It’s because your timing was so impeccable," Quentin Blackwood said coldly. "Everyone saw it during the meeting."
Julian Grant: "..."
He genuinely hadn’t known Quentin Blackwood was in a meeting.
"So you didn’t make them keep it a secret? One word from you and they wouldn’t dare breathe a hint of it to anyone."
"Why would I make them keep it a secret?"
"Huh?" Julian Grant was confused. ’What does he mean?’
’Doesn’t that mean everyone will know Quentin Blackwood has a woman now?’
Julian Grant could never figure out his friend. Ever since they were children, Quentin Blackwood’s mind had worked differently than everyone else’s. He always seemed to be one step ahead, able to see how everything would play out, and nearly every choice he made turned out to be correct.
"I don’t get it," Julian Grant said.
Quentin Blackwood stared ahead, his eyelashes fluttering slightly. "You don’t need to."
...
News concerning Quentin Blackwood spread quickly.
Even Joy Sheridan, all the way in Aethelgard, heard the news.
When she heard it, she came close to smashing everything in her house, throwing a massive tantrum.
’Who was it? Which woman dared to seduce Quentin Blackwood!’
She had already sent people to investigate, but they came up with nothing. There didn’t seem to be any women around Quentin Blackwood.
A huge sense of crisis washed over Joy Sheridan. She’d been suspicious of that Ivy Sherwood last time, but this news actually reassured her on that front. ’It couldn’t be Ivy Sherwood.’
’Isn’t Ivy Sherwood engaged to Quentin Blackwood’s nephew? She wouldn’t be going on a blind date.’
’So who could it be? When Quentin was in Aethelgard, he never had any women around him. How is it that after one trip to Lustre, so many women are suddenly clinging to him?’
’If I don’t go there now, what if...’
Joy Sheridan went to her grandfather, whining and cajoling, insisting that she absolutely had to go to Lustre.
"Grandpa, if I don’t go to Lustre now, my future husband is going to be snatched away by some little hussy! Grandpa, please just let me go, okay?"
If her grandfather hadn’t stopped her, she would have gone to Lustre last time.
"Absolutely not!" Old Master Sheridan refused. "You are a young lady, the heiress of the Sheridan Family. How can you be seen chasing a man around all day?"
"Grandpa, you know how much I like him. I haven’t seen him in so long, and I really miss him." Joy knew her grandfather doted on her more than anyone.
"No, Joy. You can’t be so debased in your affections. Grandpa can’t bear to watch you humiliate yourself like this!"
No matter what she said, Old Master Sheridan wouldn’t relent. Joy got angry. If her grandfather wouldn’t let her go, she would just have to find a way herself.
She had tried calling Quentin Blackwood, but he wouldn’t even pick up. ’If I don’t go and get rid of those little hussies around him, he might never come back from Lustre!’
Meanwhile, Caleb Blackwood, who was always keeping tabs on Quentin Blackwood’s every move, also learned of the incident very quickly.
During dinner that evening, he asked Silas Blackwood, "Did you know that Quentin Blackwood’s woman went on a blind date?"
"What?" Silas Blackwood had no idea.
’Quentin Blackwood’s woman... Could it be *her*?’
"Look at you, you useless waste! It’s all over town, and you don’t even know!" Caleb Blackwood fumed.
"Dad, how was I supposed to know? You’ve been investigating for ages and still haven’t found out who his woman is. I want to know who she is even more than you do!" Silas Blackwood said, his voice rising with agitation.
He had been pursuing that woman for so long, and he still didn’t even know her name. He’d barely seen her face more than once.
But the moment Quentin Blackwood showed up, he managed to get her. He was still furious about it.
"So it seems this woman isn’t Ivy Sherwood," Caleb Blackwood murmured, his murky eyes glinting with dark calculations.
He had previously suspected there was something unusual about Ivy Sherwood’s relationship with Silas Blackwood, that perhaps there was some shameful secret between them.
But since Quentin Blackwood’s woman went on a blind date, it couldn’t possibly be Ivy Sherwood. Ivy was the future daughter-in-law of the Blackwood Family.
Silas Blackwood hadn’t inherited even a fraction of Caleb Blackwood’s cunning; he was utterly clueless.
"Dad, what are you talking about? What about Ivy Sherwood?"
"It’s nothing. Isn’t your uncle on fairly good terms with Ivy Sherwood? Go ask her and see if she knows anything about this."
Caleb Blackwood was determined to find this woman. He would have his people investigate who sent Quentin Blackwood the video, and who was on that blind date.
"How would Ivy Sherwood know anything? Even if my uncle gave her a second glance, it’s only because she’s my fiancée."
"I told you to go, so just go!" Caleb Blackwood boomed.
Silas Blackwood didn’t dare to look up at his father. "Can’t it wait until I’ve finished dinner!"
Silas Blackwood quickly finished his meal and, under his father’s stern gaze, reluctantly called Ivy Sherwood.
However, Ivy Sherwood didn’t answer. Silas said, "See, Dad? She’s not picking up. You can’t blame me for that, right?"
"If she doesn’t answer, call again. Maybe if you treated her better, she’d pick up."
"How have I not been good to her? She’s the one who’s arrogant. She thinks she can wrap me around her finger just because I’m nice to her." Silas felt he had seen through Ivy Sherwood’s games long ago.
Caleb Blackwood wasn’t so sure. He felt that as far as Ivy Sherwood was concerned, Silas barely existed. And while Ivy usually seemed docile, he knew that deep down, she was definitely not someone who could be easily controlled.
Silas Blackwood called Ivy Sherwood again. Finally, she picked up. "Silas Blackwood, are you ever going to quit?"
"You think I want to be calling you? I just have something to ask."
"What is it?" Ivy Sherwood had a pile of reports sitting in front of her that still needed her attention.
"You and my uncle are on good terms, right?"
At the sudden mention of Quentin Blackwood, the hand Ivy Sherwood was holding her pen with froze.
’What does he mean by asking that?’ Ivy wondered. ’Did Silas find out something about me and Quentin?’
"What do you mean?" A hint of nervousness crept into Ivy Sherwood’s voice.
