Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Sleeping with a Man Like Him Is No Loss
"You pulled off my bath towel and touched my abs, and you call that not seducing me?"
"When did I pull off your bath towel and touch your... abs." Ivy Sherwood paused. Her face grew even redder as Quentin Blackwood spoke.
This time, it wasn’t from holding her breath, but purely because she was thin-skinned. Hearing Quentin Blackwood’s shameless words, anyone who didn’t know better would think she’d actually done it.
"Oh, really? Then how did my towel come undone?" Quentin Blackwood lifted the covers, and sure enough, the bath towel had loosened.
If he stood up now, he would be completely naked.
"I... I really don’t know, and I swear I have absolutely no other intentions toward Uncle!" Ivy Sherwood raised three fingers, looking completely earnest.
"Saying that with a red face isn’t very convincing."
"I’m not blushing, I’m just still recovering from holding my breath earlier." Ivy Sherwood covered her eyes with both hands and turned around. "I swear I won’t look."
Quentin Blackwood watched her, a cold sneer flashing in his eyes, yet the corners of his mouth lifted involuntarily.
Caleb Blackwood had invited him to stay, so naturally, new clothes had been prepared for him.
Quentin Blackwood picked up a shirt and began to get dressed.
Ivy Sherwood had indeed turned away, but the glass reflected the man’s silhouette. ’It has to be said, Quentin Blackwood’s physique is truly enough to make one’s blood boil.’
’Those muscles were perfectly defined—not exaggerated, just taut and powerful, hinting at immense physical strength and giving off an intimidating sense of stability. And I touched those very muscles last night; they felt incredible.’
’Say what you will, Quentin Blackwood’s physical attributes really were top-notch. He and Silas Blackwood were on completely different levels; Silas was nothing compared to Quentin.’
’Sleeping with a man like this... I didn’t get the short end of the stick after all.’
Quentin Blackwood started putting on his pants. Ivy Sherwood didn’t dare to look now, clamping her hands tightly over her eyes.
Only when Quentin Blackwood was fully dressed did Ivy Sherwood let go and turn around, her face now an even deeper shade of red.
Now dressed, Quentin Blackwood lost the air of a refined beast and gained a touch of asceticism. He seemed to have reverted to his usual appearance as a lofty emperor, and the Buddha Beads on his wrist glinted in the light.
"After you, Uncle." Ivy Sherwood even opened the door for Quentin Blackwood herself, then hid behind it.
Quentin Blackwood just gave her an indifferent glance, his eyes holding an unreadable meaning.
Caleb Blackwood was indeed still outside. Seeing Quentin Blackwood walk out fully dressed, Caleb hurriedly said, "Third Brother, I’ve already disciplined the kids. I apologize to you on their behalf. You’re a bigger man, so please don’t..."
"President Blackwood, the car is ready," his secretary, Zane Linton, stepped forward to say.
Quentin Blackwood didn’t say a word and walked directly toward the main door of the old mansion.
Caleb Blackwood hurried after him. "Third Brother, Third Brother, don’t be angry. We’re all family."
Everyone in the Blackwood Family knew they had offended a titan. All attention was now on Quentin Blackwood.
Meanwhile, Ivy Sherwood seized the opportunity to slip out of Quentin Blackwood’s room, avoid everyone’s gaze, find a chance to go downstairs, and blend into the crowd.
Just as he was getting into the car at the mansion’s entrance, Quentin Blackwood glanced at the crowd and saw Ivy Sherwood at the very back.
Just as when Quentin Blackwood had arrived, Ivy Sherwood was standing at the back, trying to minimize her presence. Little did she know, she was the one with the most presence of all.
Ivy Sherwood’s eyes met Quentin Blackwood’s. She opened her mouth and silently mouthed three words: "Thank you, Uncle."
Quentin Blackwood scoffed, then got into the car. The driver quickly pulled away.
Caleb Blackwood had failed to make him stay and now wore a grim expression. No one else dared to breathe too loudly.
"Ivy Sherwood! Where the hell did you come from? Were you just hiding in Uncle’s room? What the hell is going on between you and Uncle!" Silas Blackwood was burning with rage. Seeing Ivy now, he wanted to tear her limb from limb.
"Silas Blackwood, don’t talk nonsense. I just went to the restroom. You say I was in Uncle’s room—do you have any proof?"
"You dare talk back? I’ll kill you!" With that, Silas Blackwood moved to strike Ivy Sherwood.
"Silas Blackwood!" Caleb Blackwood yelled his son’s name. "Haven’t you caused enough trouble? Ivy is your future wife!"
"She is not! I’ll never marry her, that jinx!" As he finished speaking, Silas Blackwood’s phone rang. It was a call from Anna Nash.
Hearing Anna Nash’s voice, Silas Blackwood’s own softened, full of doting affection. "Anna, you’re still up this late?"
"Silas, I miss you. Can you come be with me?" Anna Nash’s voice on the other end was already tinged with tears.
She had heard about the Blackwood Family’s arrangement for Silas Blackwood to sleep with Ivy Sherwood tonight. There was no way Anna Nash would let Ivy succeed, so she had called him.
"Anna, I can’t get away right now."
"I understand, Silas. I should be more considerate and not cause you trouble. Go ahead and be with Ivy Sherwood; I’ll be fine. I’ll just have to miss you quietly in my heart. I’ll hang up now."
With that, Anna Nash hung up. Silas Blackwood’s heart ached. ’Anna is just so understanding.’ He wished he could fly to her side right now, pull her into his arms, and comfort her.
"Dad, I have to go out for a bit." Silas Blackwood couldn’t be bothered with anything else right now.
Then he turned his head and shot a threat at Ivy Sherwood: "You just wait. This isn’t over!"
Then, ignoring whatever Caleb Blackwood had to say, Silas Blackwood went straight to his car and sped off to the hospital.
Ivy Sherwood paid no mind to Silas Blackwood’s words. ’It’s good that he’s leaving; I don’t want to stay here anyway.’
"President Blackwood, Mrs. Blackwood, I didn’t expect such a misunderstanding to occur. I’m very sorry. Perhaps it’s best if I head home for today."
"Ivy, you’re a sensible girl. Don’t take any of this to heart. Men settle down once they’re married. Don’t worry, I’ll have someone pick an auspicious date as soon as possible."
"President Blackwood, I really don’t think Silas and I are a good match."
"You and Silas were engaged as children. Your mother agreed to it herself back then. Don’t overthink it. Just focus on getting ready to be a bride." Caleb Blackwood patted Ivy Sherwood’s shoulder with a wide smile.
But the smile didn’t reach his eyes. In fact, deep within his pupils, there was a hint of cunning.
That feeling of powerlessness washed over her again, like an invisible hand seizing her heart.
’I can’t possibly marry Silas Blackwood. I’ll have to think of another way.’
When Ivy Sherwood asked to leave, Caleb Blackwood didn’t try to stop her. He even arranged for a driver.
Only after leaving the Blackwood Family villa did Ivy Sherwood feel like she could breathe again.
’Mommy, why did you arrange this marriage for me? If you knew what I’m going through now, would you still have set up this childhood engagement?’
