Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Hooking His Bath Towel, Intimate Contact with His Abs
The air instantly froze. Silas Blackwood looked toward Caleb Blackwood. "Dad... Uncle is being..."
This is too much!
Before he could finish, Caleb Blackwood kicked Silas Blackwood’s leg. "Get on your knees for your uncle, now!"
Caught off guard, his knees slammed into the floor with a loud THUD. They were already sore and numb from his prolonged kneeling, and the fresh jolt of pain made Silas Blackwood grimace.
"You barge into my room without any evidence, claiming to be looking for your fiancée. After searching high and low and finding no one, you concluded she must be under my covers. Brother, you tell me, is any of this reasonable?" Quentin Blackwood spoke, laying out the situation for Caleb Blackwood in a few short sentences.
"Not reasonable. Not reasonable at all."
"The deal was that he’d kneel and apologize if he didn’t find her. Brother, do you think your son ought to apologize?"
"He should. Of course, he should." Caleb Blackwood said with a placating smile. But when he turned to Silas Blackwood, his face was a mask of viciousness. "What are you waiting for? Apologize!"
"Dad, I won’t, I..."
SMACK! Before Silas Blackwood could finish, Caleb Blackwood landed a vicious slap across his face. "You dare run your mouth again, and I’ll beat the hell out of you!"
Silas Blackwood had rarely seen his father this furious in his entire life. He had no choice but to grit his teeth and reluctantly apologize. "I’m sorry, Uncle. I was reckless. I shouldn’t have barged in here."
"Is it only me you’re apologizing to?" Clearly, Quentin Blackwood was not satisfied.
"And I’m sorry to Ivy Sherwood. I shouldn’t have falsely accused her." Silas Blackwood practically squeezed the words out from between his teeth.
Quentin Blackwood said nothing, so Silas Blackwood, kneeling on the floor, didn’t dare to get up.
Under the covers, Ivy Sherwood’s heart skipped a beat. ’Even now, Quentin Blackwood remembered to make Silas Blackwood apologize to me.’
’Looks like this uncle isn’t as cold and heartless as the online rumors say.’
Ivy Sherwood felt like she was about to suffocate. She poked Quentin Blackwood, trying to signal him to wrap things up and get the Blackwoods out of the room so she could finally emerge.
But Quentin Blackwood remained unmoved. Ivy Sherwood had no choice but to poke him harder. Unexpectedly, as she withdrew her hand, her finger caught on his bath towel.
The towel was already hanging loosely around his waist, and with Ivy’s accidental tug, it came undone.
She was hiding right at the level of his waist, and she watched in horror as the towel began to slip. Ivy Sherwood quickly grabbed a corner and tried to pull it back up for him.
However, in the process of pulling it up, the cramped space caused her to accidentally brush against a certain part of the man.
Ivy Sherwood didn’t even notice, but the man let out a muffled groan, and his expression, which was already grim, darkened visibly.
’Is she doing this on purpose?! Taking advantage of the outsiders here, thinking I won’t dare do anything to her?’
Quentin Blackwood’s hand shot out and grabbed hers, his large palm engulfing her hand and the troublesome finger along with it.
The man’s palm was scorching hot; Ivy Sherwood felt the heat burn straight to her heart.
"One of your servants saw Ivy Sherwood come to my room. Which one was it? Who dares to spread such baseless rumors about the future lady of the Blackwood family?"
Hearing Quentin Blackwood’s words, Caleb Blackwood knew he intended to get to the bottom of this.
"Quentin, it’s getting late. How about we just let this go?"
"Are you sure you want to let it go, Brother?" Quentin Blackwood’s gaze landed on Caleb Blackwood, his warning crystal clear.
Caleb Blackwood felt his scalp prickle. He’d been a major player in the business world for years and had met all sorts of people, but his own youngest brother was the only one who could genuinely make his blood run cold.
If he dropped it now, Quentin would surely find a way to settle the score later.
Caleb Blackwood kicked Silas again. "Hurry up and tell us who it was!"
Silas knew his father was furious. Cowed, he immediately spilled the beans. "It... It was Sylvia."
"Sylvia said Ivy Sherwood had to be in here. That’s why I came in."
Sylvia Blackwood, who had been enjoying the drama from the doorway, never imagined her brother would sell her out. The moment her father’s eyes landed on her, Sylvia knew she was in deep trouble.
She hurried in and quickly knelt on the floor. "That’s not it! I... I didn’t see anything! Brother, how could you make something like that up?"
Sylvia Blackwood didn’t dare to admit it now, but whether she admitted it or not no longer mattered.
"What do you mean it wasn’t you? You told me you saw it with your own two eyes! That’s the only reason I believed it. Sylvia, why are you denying it now?"
In an instant, the two siblings were arguing furiously.
"Enough!" Quentin Blackwood’s eyes narrowed, his dangerous aura filling the room. "Since you’re so fond of wagging your tongues, perhaps there’s no need for you to keep them."
’So this is a taste of Quentin Blackwood’s methods,’ Ivy Sherwood thought. ’Not just anyone can command such a crushing presence.’
’I’m lucky to still be alive. I guess I haven’t offended him too badly yet. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even know what hit me.’
’From now on, I’m staying far, far away from Quentin Blackwood!’
"Quentin, brother, please be merciful! Sylvia is your niece! She’s just young and doesn’t know any better. Please don’t hold this against her. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to discipline them properly. I promise I’ll give you a satisfactory answer."
Quentin Blackwood was about to say more, but the woman under the covers seemed unable to last much longer. The air was thin, and her breaths were growing increasingly hot. As she was pressed against his lower abdomen, every exhale washed over his skin.
He didn’t want to act rashly, but a certain part of him was no longer under his control.
"Hmph. Get out."
Caleb Blackwood was taken aback. ’Just a moment ago, he looked like he was about to kill them for offending him. Why was he suddenly so easygoing?’
Not daring to hesitate, Caleb Blackwood quickly dragged his two troublesome children out, even closing the door behind them on his way out.
Only then did Ivy Sherwood quickly throw off the covers and take deep gulps of air.
Her waterfall of hair was in disarray, and her face was flushed red from suffocation. If anything, she now looked even more like she had just been doing something illicit.
"Thank you, Uncle! You’re so handsome, Uncle! You’re truly a wonderful person!" Ivy Sherwood gushed, laying the flattery on thick.
Quentin Blackwood watched her utterly insincere display of gratitude, a smirk playing on his lips. "By helping you this time, we’re even for last night."
"Last night?" Ivy Sherwood blinked. "Did something happen last night?"
Quentin Blackwood’s eyes deepened, but a flicker of appreciation appeared in their depths. ’This woman knows when to play dumb.’
"Uncle, in for a penny, in for a pound, right? They’re definitely still out there lying in wait for me. If I leave now, they’ll catch me for sure."
"I’m guessing you won’t be staying here tonight, will you, Uncle? So, how about you leave first?"
Quentin Blackwood sneered. "Ivy Sherwood, drop the seduction act. Just focus on getting ready to marry Silas Blackwood."
Quentin was referring to the bath towel incident; he was certain Ivy Sherwood had done it on purpose.
Ivy, however, assumed he was referring to the fact that they were currently on the same bed.
"What seduction? You’re the one who pulled me into bed, Uncle. Or have you forgotten?"
Ivy Sherwood smiled like a sly little fox. She was telling the truth.
When Silas Blackwood was at the door, she had begged Quentin Blackwood for help. Just when she thought he was going to refuse, he had suddenly hooked an arm around her waist, yanked her onto the bed without warning, and pressed her head down firmly, forcing her to get intimately acquainted with his abs.
