Chapter 154: Two Unranked Humans VS One Tier Two Beast

Selene had just returned from the administrative work she had been doing when she noticed Marie injured in the living room. After asking about why she was injured, she got the gist of the story.

’That man... why is he going there alone at such a critical moment?’

She frowned, then went ahead to put on her armor. With her sword sheathed by her side, she rushed out of the city but not before alerting Emily and Jones to stay vigilant.

Although she couldn’t trust them fully, they were her best options after Nicolas.

The instant she got close to the forest, the faint rumbling from a shockwave reached her, and she realized a great battle was going on.

Without hesitation, she rushed towards the source of the sound and witnessed Leon being knocked back by a huge tail that belonged to a mutated snake.

’Huh... for him to be this injured...’

She deadpanned, realizing this mutated beast was definitely not a Tier One beast. The pressure she was feeling was several times more than what a Tier One beast could have.

"Tier Two? Your luck is really the worst," She sneered.

Leon chuckled at her words, then straightened his back. "What can I say? I’m a man of high bad luck."

"Tch." Selene snorted and jumped down the tree she was standing on, landing by his side.

"Can you even continue fighting in this condition?" She asked.

Leon nodded, then closed his eyes.

At a visible pace, his injuries closed, and his vitality was restored to the peak. However, he was hit by a wave of tiredness for a moment as his stamina was drained sharply.

After using Instant Recovery, he only had 50 Stamina points left. Still, he didn’t use his Stamina Regeneration ability.

After a few seconds, his Overdrive trait was activated, and his physical stats soared greatly. His Strength and Agility rose to 209 and 190 respectively.

At this point, he was infinitely close to the level of a Tier Two existence.

Selene felt a flash of shock as she watched the man beside her undergo several changes in just a few seconds. First, his injuries disappeared, then his aura became noticeably heavier to the point it almost matched that of the mutated snake.

She wasn’t the only one who reacted to the change, as the mutated snake hissed threateningly while looking at the duo.

Its body was still riddled with injuries, while its opponents were in optimal condition. The beast that had gained intelligence equivalent to that of a young child immediately grew wary and decided to attack first.

Opening its mouth wide, a blast of frost energy was released, shooting straight at the two humans.

Selene’s gaze flashed coldly as she waved her hand and nullified a great portion of the attack. Leon was surprised and confused as to how she did that, but this wasn’t the time to think.

Before the rest of the ice blast hit them, he swung his sword with great force, crushing the magical attack with nothing but physical might.

The mutated snake was greatly surprised that its attack had been dealt with easily, and was immediately enraged. Hissing with its mouth wide open, it charged at them with the intention of swallowing them whole.

"I’ll handle its attacks. You focus on trying to break through its defense and kill it."

She had already seen the bloody wounds on its body and knew she wouldn’t be able to do anything significant to damage those scales. After all, she couldn’t compete with Leon in terms of destructive power. If even he had trouble inflicting those injuries, then she had no chance.

Leon nodded and pivoted, leaving Selene alone to face its attack. The silver-haired young lady raised both hands and spoke coldly.

"Frozen Barrier."

"Ice Wall."

Two complementary skills were cast from her ability as the great translucent ice barrier appeared before her.

A split second later, the head of the mutated snake crashed into it.

Crack!

The shield cracked under the weight and momentum of the snake, but still held. Unsheathing her sword, Selene raised it high and made a simple slash.

"Cleave."

Her own ice barrier was cut cleanly, and the sharp blade light that erupted from her sword sliced into the snake’s mouth. To its horror and anger, a portion of its long tongue was cut cleanly, with blood pouring from the stump.

HISSSS!!!

The snake let out a wail of pain and anger as it glared at Selene hatefully. However, before it could attack her again, a heavy blade knocked into its neck from behind, slamming its massive head against the ground.

Boom!

The ground trembled as the shockwave directly uprooted several trees and cleared their surroundings. Even Selene had to keep herself rooted to the ground to avoid being knocked away by the shockwave.

Leon jumped back and nodded in satisfaction as he saw the blood staining his weapon. This time, he had managed to deal a significant wound to the snake. Not deep enough to reach its spine, but deep enough to fit half of his whole leg.

His satisfaction didn’t last long when he realized he had drawn the snake’s ire to himself. Raising its enormous tail again, it brought it down on him with the intention of flattening him to the ground.

However, Leon wasn’t the same person of the past few minutes. He easily dodged the attack, disappearing from the mutated snake’s view in a few seconds.

Selene immediately got to work, drawing the beast’s attention back to her. Twenty ice bullets formed around her and shot towards the snake, targeting its eyes.

The beast hissed in annoyance and closed its eyes, letting the attacks bounce harmlessly on its eyelids.

Suddenly, a feeling of great danger assaulted it, and it was forced to open its eyes, even at the cost of getting blind.

From the edge of its vision, it saw that black-haired human mid-air with his sword raised. The blood-soaked black blade glinted under the sunlight, emanating a dangerous feeling.

Even Selene frowned. Something felt different about the blade, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.

Meanwhile, Leon slashed with a serious expression on his face. Just now, he had felt a great feeling of danger as the mana around the mutated snake stirred.

It definitely wanted to activate another ability, and he was sure it wasn’t a pleasant one. Therefore, he did what had been in his mind for a while and attacked with full concentration.

His shadow-coated blade landed on the mutated snake’s head and tore through its scales and flesh.

Blood spurted on his face and body, but he didn’t mind. A smile appeared on his face, only to disappear at Selene’s panicked voice.

"Get away from it!"
