The sudden formal courtesy caught Yang Qi slightly off guard.

He wasn’t part of the police system and was unfamiliar with the etiquette for such occasions. However, he reacted quickly, straightening his back and returning the nod with a solemn expression.

Then, he said humbly, "Director Tang, you’re too kind. I just happened to be there and did what I could."

"Advisor Yang, this was far more than simply ’doing what you could.’"

Tang Yuan lowered his hand, his gaze burning with admiration as he looked at Yang Qi. His tone was full of praise and affirmation. "A tiger on the loose in a bustling city... the slightest mistake in handling it could have led to mass casualties. Without any professional capture equipment or protective gear, you relied solely on your personal abilities and understanding of animals to successfully calm and control the frightened beast, averting the worst-case scenario."

Yang Qi sat down in the reserved spot.

To his surprise, two soft cushions had also been prepared beforehand on the carpet behind and to the side of his seat.

Xiaojiu, without any ceremony, leaped lightly onto one of them and curled up.

Bai Wan, on the other hand, walked steadily to the other cushion. He first looked at Yang Qi and, after receiving a silent nod of approval, lay down quietly, his head held high and his eyes bright.

After everyone was seated, Tang Yuan personally introduced the others at the table to Yang Qi.

Each person who was introduced nodded to Yang Qi with a smile.

They had all heard about the incident that afternoon and dared not underestimate the young man before them in the slightest.

When the introductions were finished, Yang Qi took the initiative to pick up his teacup. He stood up, his calm gaze sweeping over everyone present, and spoke with a poised confidence.

Shen Ruiping arranged a desk for him near the file cabinets.

Yang Qi sat down, and Bai Wan lay down quietly on the floor by his feet.

Xiaojiu, however, jumped onto a corner of the desk. She coiled into a ball in a spot that wouldn’t obstruct anyone’s view and closed her eyes to rest, only her ears twitching slightly.

The others quickly returned to their work, though they couldn’t help but occasionally steal a glance from the corner of their eyes at this unique young expert who had brought a cat and dog with him.

Yang Qi was completely focused, seemingly oblivious to the occasional glances cast his way.

He took the thick stack of files that Shen Ruiping brought over and began to sort through them from the beginning.
