Chapter 860: Chapter 772: Alliance (Part 2)
They simultaneously stabbed toward Audric from six directions—two wrapped around his wings, two around his foreclaws, one around his tail, and the last pierced through his chest, firmly fixing his body in mid-air.
The thorns’ spikes plunged deeply into the dragon’s body, piercing the scale armor, flesh, and bone.
Audric let out a painful roar, golden blood gushing from the wounds, flowing along the thorns and dripping to the ground.
As the blood touched the earth, it scorched small pits into the soil, emitting pungent white smoke.
The thorns began absorbing his life force.
Vivid green light flowed visibly across the thorn’s surface, representing the extracted life force, which coursed along the thorn’s veins, transporting into the depths of the vortex.
Audric’s body dimmed at a visible speed.
His scale armor lost its luster, his eyes turned cloudy, and his breaths grew heavy.
Yet his life force was so powerful that even though six thorns simultaneously drew from it, it seemed akin to scooping water from the sea.
One breath, two breaths, three— though the thorns extracted massive quantities of life force, Audric’s aura did not diminish in the slightest.
His form remained grand, his scale armor retained its sturdiness, and his dragon eyes still burned with golden fire.
Vera’s complexion grew paler, more blood oozing from the corner of her mouth, her body began trembling.
She could not hold on for long; the time the thorns could trap Audric was much shorter than she had anticipated.
Duke knew this was a rare opportunity.
He raised his right hand, his fingers poised.
Not far away, a mountain rose from the ground—it was a stone mountain hundreds of meters tall, with a robust and thick geological layer.
He pushed his mountain-moving power to the limit, causing the entire mountain to rise into the air and hurl toward the dragon.
Simultaneously, a colossus leapt from the ground—a dark golden figure over three hundred meters tall, twisting in mid-air, its longsword lifted high, the blade holding highly compressed metallic yellow sand, its edge flowing with silvery light.
The mountain struck the dragon’s back, pressing it down from mid-air.
The dragon’s body sank abruptly, wings bound by the thorns, unable to unfold.
The colossus’s longsword swiftly followed, slashing at Audric’s neck.
The sword blade cut into the dragon’s neck, slicing from the right side and emerging from the left.
Golden blood surged out like a waterfall.
Half of Audric’s skull was split open, the dragon horn shattered, the dragon eye shattered, half a dragon face along with the neck was completely severed by the sword, leaving only half of the windpipe and muscle barely connected.
His body shook violently, dragon claws grasping chaotically in the air, dragon tail wildly thrashing.
He let out a garbled, hoarse roar—it wasn’t anger, it wasn’t pain, but something more primitive; it was a death struggle.
Hope flickered in Vera’s eyes. But the next instant, that hope turned to despair.
The gold blood on the ground began to glow.
The dragon blood that dripped into the soil, splashed on the rubble, hung on the thorn spikes.
Every drop gleamed, with a golden glow emerging from each like innumerable tiny suns.
Where the blood lay, the soil cracked, stones burst, and golden flowers bloomed from the light.
The petals were pure gold, the stamens were burning flames, and at the center of the flowers was a miniature dragon eye.
The flowers floated from the ground, resembling countless fireflies, flying toward Audric.
They merged into his body, into his wounds, into those broken bones and shattered flesh.
The ruptured neck began to heal, broken scale armor started to regenerate, the split skull growing new bones, flesh, and scales at a visible speed.
In less than three breaths, the fatal wound disappeared completely, Audric’s neck was as good as new, without even a scar left.
Duke’s pupils contracted to their limit.
Audric’s aura intensified; those golden flowers not only healed his injuries, but activated deeper potential within his bloodline.
His scale armor became thicker, his dragon eyes brighter, his body did not continue to swell, but the pressure emanating from him grew more than twice as strong.
The dragon’s wings suddenly unfurled, snapping each entangling thorn.
The sound of thorns breaking was like bones shattering; each snap made Vera’s body tremble.
When the last thorn snapped, Vera coughed up blood, her body falling backward like a severed kite.
She landed on the ground, the magic robe soaked with blood, her face pale as paper.
Vera’s eyes were half-closed, her lips moved as if wanting to speak, but only a mouthful of bloody foam emerged.
The six thorns reaching from the vortex had completely withered, turning into gray-black powder, scattered by the wind.
The vortex itself began to slowly shrink, its edge dimming as if it were a candle about to extinguish.
Audric lowered his head, looking at the blood-soaked woman lying on the ground.
His dragon eyes showed no compassion or anger, only a cold, superior scrutiny.
He raised a dragon claw, aiming at Vera.
Duke dashed forward. The sand flow swirling around him spun furiously, accelerating his speed to the max.
Rather than attacking Audric, he rushed to Vera’s side, scooping her up, and retreated swiftly.
The dragon claw descended. The ground was struck into a massive deep pit, debris and soil splattering outward.
Duke was blown into the air by the shockwave, tumbling several times before barely stabilizing.
Though there was a protective mechanism here, with Vera in such a state, even triggering the mechanism might still cause severe injuries, so Duke proactively rescued her.
Audric’s attack began.
The dragon held nothing back, its wings flapped violently, diving down from the clouds, tearing through the air with speed.
His dragon claw enveloped in golden light, slammed down toward Duke.
Duke didn’t meet the attack head-on; as the dragon claw descended, his form disintegrated into countless dark golden sand grains, scattering outward.
The dragon claw struck the ground, creating a massive pit over ten meters deep, debris and soil scattering outward, but the sand grains had already drifted to a safe distance, recomposing into human form.
The colossus charged from the side, the longsword sweeping across, slashing the dragon’s waist and abdomen.
The sword blade sliced into the gaps between the scale armor, carving a deep wound, golden blood gushing out.
The dragon, feeling pain, turned to claw at the colossus, but the colossus was too swift; it sidestepped, evading the dragon claw, which grazed its shoulder, leaving merely shallow scratch marks.
Metallic yellow sand quickly filled the damages, the colossus’s wounds visibly healing.
It reversed the sword in its hand, stabbing toward the dragon’s chest.
Audric had to lift another dragon claw to block, the sword blade piercing through his palm, golden blood flowing along the blade.
Duke did not join the frontal assault.
His sand flow roamed at the battlefield’s edge, like a serpent in dark gold.
Audric’s breath grew heavier, his actions remained fierce, but the rhythm no longer as smooth as before.
The colossus’s longsword left one wound after another on his body, though each was healed by the golden flowers, Duke noticed their numbers dwindling.
Initially, each drop of dragon blood birthed a golden flower.
Now, some dragon blood merely burned small pits into the ground, nothing else happened.
Golden flowers dwindled, Audric’s healing speed also slowed.
Duke’s eyes narrowed. He began observing Audric’s state more thoroughly, missing no detail.
Those wounds cleaved open by the colossus, though superficially healed, were lighter in color than the surrounding scale armor, their luster dimmer.
The muscle cleaved and regenerated had twisted patterns, lacking the original fluidity.
Especially the half-cleaved neck, though outwardly restored, Duke’s spiritual power sensed chaotic energy flow there, like a forcibly connected river, with turbulent currents threatening to burst at any moment.
