Chapter 856: Chapter 770: Bloodline True Form (Part 2)
The vines did not grow from the ground but extended from the space behind her, as if connecting to some deeper place.
The vines multiplied, becoming denser, intertwining, winding, and stacking around her, eventually enclosing her within a giant flower bud.
The flower bud was semi-transparent, with Vera faintly visible inside.
Her body glowed slightly, the light emanating from within her, passing through the textures of the petals like dawn piercing through clouds.
Her arms slightly spread open, her head slightly tilted back, as if welcoming something.
Adrian stepped back a few steps, retreating to the edge of the battlefield.
His Water and Fire Elemental Spirit hovered beside his shoulder, its red and blue lights flickering alternately, but much dimmer than before.
He raised his hand, conjuring a giant Fireball, and hurled it at the airborne dragon.
The Fireball collided with the scales on the dragon’s chest, exploding into a cluster of scarlet sparks, then extinguishing.
The scales didn’t even retain a scorch mark.
He conjured a Water Magic spell, the magic energy striking the dragon’s forepaw, shattering into countless droplets of water, like rain on a rock, achieving nothing.
Adrian’s expression was grim. His Water and Fire Dual Magic was nearly unmatched among his peers, but against the true form of a Golden Dragon, that elemental energy seemed as flimsy as paper.
The Golden Dragon’s scale armor had extremely high resistance to Elemental Attacks, so high that his magic hitting it was no different from tickling.
He lowered his hand, ceasing futile attacks, merely holding the weakened Water and Fire Elemental Spirit, silently watching the backs of Vera and Leon.
He knew his role in this battle was very limited.
The dragon in the sky lowered its head, its dragon eyes blazing with golden flames, fixed on the two persevering figures on the ground.
Its body stretched over a thousand meters long, coiling amid the clouds, like a suspended mountain range.
Each beat of its wings stirred up a hurricane that obscured the skies, sending debris and corpses on the ground tumbling in all directions.
Its scales reflected dazzling golden light under the gray-white daylight, each like a giant mirror, mirroring everything on the Ancient Battlefield.
Leon moved, his Holy Silver Phantom suddenly leaping, the towering silver figure soaring into the air, crashing toward the dragon’s underbelly.
The phantom’s fist, condensed with Holy Silver Fighting Spirit compressed to the extreme, was like a silver meteor, trailing a long tail flame, crashing into the dragon’s belly.
BOOM——!!
With a loud explosion, the dragon’s body swayed slightly.
A hairline crack appeared on the scale where it was hit on the abdomen.
The dragon eyes turned, locked onto the still-airborne silver phantom.
Its forepaw raised, swiping at the phantom.
The paw was larger than Leon’s entire phantom, its claws sharp as knives, enveloped with the sound of air being torn as it slashed down.
Leon’s phantom crossed its arms to block.
The dragon claw struck the phantom, which, like struck glass, showed myriad fine cracks on its surface.
Leon’s true body groaned, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, yet the phantom did not shatter.
Gritting his teeth, he infused more Holy Silver Fighting Spirit into the phantom, and the cracks visibly began to heal.
Meanwhile, Vera’s flower bud blossomed.
Not opening from the top, but splitting from the center, like a real flower stretching out under sunlight.
The petals rolled outward, revealing the glowing figure within the flower core.
Vera, eyes closed, arms spread open, the vines behind her frantically growing, from tens of meters to hundreds, from hundreds to thousands.
They twisted like countless giant serpents, reaching for the dragon in the sky.
The dragon lowered its head, seeing vines extend toward its limbs and wings.
Flapping its wings, it kicked up a windstorm, sending the nearest vines recoiling backward.
But more vines surged, binding its left forepaw, its right wing, its tail.
The vines were incredibly tough, the dragon struggled a few times but couldn’t break free.
A flicker of surprise flashed in the dragon’s eyes.
It exerted more force, its wings throbbing, its tail sweeping, tearing off the clinging vines one by one.
But every vine torn was replaced by two new ones wrapping around.
The vines flowed endlessly from the space behind Vera, seemingly inexhaustible.
The dragon finally became serious. It inhaled deeply, with dark red light glowing under the scales on its chest, gathering its dragon breath.
Opening its mouth, it spewed a thick column of golden fire from its maw, roaring towards Vera on the ground.
Leon’s phantom lunged forward, blocking the fire column.
The silver Holy Silver Fighting Spirit clashed with the golden dragon breath, detonating circles of visible shockwaves.
The cracks on the phantom’s surface reappeared, this time more numerous and deeper, like a dense web.
Leon’s true body kneeled on one knee, blood pouring from his mouth, yet his phantom still did not shatter.
Vera opened her eyes. Her eyes turned emerald green, like two pieces of jade penetrated by sunlight.
The vines around her grew madly, interweaving above her head into a giant vine shield, resisting the dragon breath alongside Leon’s phantom.
The fire column continued for over ten breaths before finally extinguishing.
The dragon panted, the glow under its chest scales dimming significantly.
Leon’s phantom knelt on the ground, half its body shattered, yet still slowly healing.
Vera’s vine shield had been burned through a big hole, but more vines surged up, patching the hole.
The entire battlefield sensed this aura, including the wizards hiding afar and those still battling each other.
Everyone paused, raising their heads, gazing toward the golden dragon dominating the center of the battlefield.
No one dared approach, the oppressive force from its bloodline pressing like a mountain on everyone’s head, making even breathing difficult.
Adrian continued to watch, seeking an opportunity. The Golden Dragon’s bloodline true form had resistance too high against Elemental Attacks, making his Elemental Magic fizzle like splashing water into the ocean.
Yet high resistance didn’t mean immunity, didn’t mean no weaknesses.
He focused on the dragon’s chest scales, those scales unscathed even after the dragon breath’s scorching.
Under the dual assault of Leon’s Holy Silver Fighting Spirit and Vera’s vines, hairline cracks appeared at the edge of some scales.
Those cracks slowly healed after the dragon breath cooled, but very slowly.
The Golden Dragon had strong regenerative abilities, but not limitless.
Adrian took a deep breath, lifting the Water and Fire Elemental Spirit off his shoulder, whispering something gently.
The spirit trembled, opening its eyes, its red and blue light flickering alternately in response.
It flew from Adrian’s palm, its wings spreading, becoming more substantial than before.
It circled Adrian once, then rushed toward the sky.
The Water and Fire Elemental Spirit’s form rapidly expanded in the air, from fist-sized to head-sized, from head-sized to millstone size.
Its wings were no longer semi-transparent membranes, but solidified entities of pure flame and water.
The Elemental Spirit flew in front of the dragon, its wings flapping concurrently, unleashing a red-blue intertwined beam from its palms, striking precisely at the root of the dragon’s right wing.
There was one of the few areas on the dragon not covered by scale armor.
While the wing membrane was tough, its resistance to Elemental Attacks was not as high as the scales.
The beam exploded on the wing membrane, erupting into a mix of red and blue sparks.
The wing membrane was burned through with a fist-sized hole, causing the dragon pain, its right wing suddenly retracting, its body tilting slightly.
Leon seized the opportunity, his Holy Silver Phantom suddenly leaping, punching at the joint of the dragon’s left forepaw.
The silver fighting spirit exploded, the joint’s scale armor shattered, and the dragon let out a deep, angry roar.
Its left paw temporarily lost power, hanging at its side, unable to attack further.
Vera’s vines took the chance to wrap around the dragon’s right wing, holding the injured wing fast behind its back.
The dragon struggled, desperately flapping its right wing, tearing a few vines apart, but more vines latched on, layer upon layer, trapping it like a web.
Audric’s voice echoed from the dragon’s maw, deep, hoarse, filled with intense anger: "You!! This is a path to self-destruction!!"
