Chapter 257: Chapter 200: Black Orc God: Damned Thief! You Again?
Therefore, all things considered, the most suitable stories were naturally those with a touch of magic that were also easy to replicate.
*Snow White* was clearly this type of story. Furthermore, some of its elements overlapped with Isaac’s current magical fields, which promised some pleasant surprises down the line.
Isaac was very much looking forward to it.
Time passed, and in the blink of an eye, half a month had gone by. Isaac had gathered most of the live data on the High-level Knight, finished writing *Snow White*, and given it to Caesar. The story had already begun to circulate within his domain.
However, his collection of Black Orc sacrifices was still falling short. After the recent war, the Black Orcs outside the Wilderness had not yet recovered. There were few ordinary Black Orcs left, let alone Entry-Tier ones.
Fortunately, the ritual’s buffer materials for increasing fault tolerance didn’t have to be Black Orcs. Other things could be used, but they contributed very little and were too varied, making them less convenient to procure than Black Orcs.
Right now, however, it was clear that these miscellaneous materials were the easier option.
Of course, this was only true for someone in Isaac’s position. After all, he controlled an Earl’s Domain, and a large territory had its advantages.
At this thought, the idea of properly managing his domain flickered in Isaac’s mind, but he extinguished it just as quickly.
’If it’s just for the convenience of collecting materials, I don’t necessarily need a domain. Any sizable faction would do.’
’Even my Dimension Apostles could handle it, though their capabilities are somewhat lacking in comparison.’
’So, I just need to focus on building a good intelligence network. Then, these other tasks can be accomplished along the way.’
But in all honesty, after some careful thought, Isaac concluded that he should start preparing to establish a public-facing power of his own—in other words, a Wizard Organization.
As his power grew, Isaac’s need for wealth would inevitably increase day by day. He couldn’t rely on extortion forever; special, wealthy patrons like the Terra Royal Family were a rare exception.
The Demon Rats and Dragon Lizards certainly generated some income, but those two sources alone might not be enough to keep pace with Isaac’s advancement.
Besides, as far as Isaac knew, most High-level Mages were affiliated with multiple Wizard Organizations. Some even founded several of their own!
For example, there was a High-level Mage in the Flesh Sect who spent all his time conducting research in his Mage Tower. He had founded a total of eight Wizard Organizations!
Well, because he was a shut-in who did nothing but research, all those Wizard Organizations were destroyed...
Rumor has it he’s now founding his ninth...
But these were all just plans. Isaac’s most important task at the moment was still his promotion to High-level Mage.
Therefore, once things at the fortress were concluded, Isaac immediately returned to his castle with his men. He also instructed Smith and Lorna to start shifting the future development focus of the domain.
This game of playing house here was about over. A Wizard Organization was what they should be preparing for next.
After dealing with these miscellaneous affairs, Isaac went to the top floor of his Mage Tower. While instructing Liu Li and the Dimension Apostles to prepare the trading ritual for the Black Orc God, he reviewed what the Dimension Apostles had accomplished recently.
First was the expansion of his intelligence network. Now that he had Dimension Apostles, Isaac no longer needed to personally train Secret Mages and dispatch them to various parts of the world as he did before.
He could have the Dimension Apostles go directly to locations around the world, cultivate Secret Mages there, and then have them gather intelligence on his behalf.
Furthermore, Isaac’s original plan had involved not only training Secret Mages but also building a platform for them to communicate and trade on. He would then extract the intelligence he needed from their interactions.
It was a rather troublesome plan, but a necessary one. He couldn’t directly investigate matters in his capacity as the Master of Dimensions. That would be beneath his station and might allow some Secret Mages to perceive his "weakness," which could lead them to entertain improper ideas.
Directly viewing their memories was also too tedious.
But now that he had Dimension Apostles, these intermediate steps were completely unnecessary.
The Master of Dimensions had a lofty status and was unconcerned with matters of the Real World, but his Dimension Apostles were a different story. They possessed their own independent personalities and thoughts, so it was perfectly normal for them to manage various organizations.
Never mind running an intelligence network; historically, there were even examples of Dimension Apostles becoming merchants.
Therefore, having the Dimension Apostles act as intermediaries was perfectly logical.
During this period, the Dimension Apostles had already spread the legacy of the Secret Mages across almost the entire Terra Empire.
Of course, this was only a preliminary spread. No matter how quickly the Secret Mages could be trained, their strength after such a short time was still extremely limited. The intelligence they could gather was minimal, offering almost zero help to Isaac.
But that didn’t matter. It was still a good start!
Given time, they would sooner or later become a behemoth!
In terms of scale, at least.
Beyond that, another piece of news brought Isaac considerable joy: four operations against the Norns Clan had succeeded.
Over the past half-month, although the Dimension Apostles themselves hadn’t gathered much significant intelligence on the Norns Clan, they had launched a number of operations based on information collected by Isaac’s pre-existing network.
Since the Dimension Apostles were still relatively weak, they hadn’t had many successes. There were four in total: they destroyed one of the Norns Clan’s Magic Potion Manors, assassinated a nephew of Prince Norns, demolished a chamber of commerce headquarters in the Southern Empire, and sabotaged one of the Norns Clan’s farms.
Overall, these were all trivial matters, hardly worth mentioning.
But again, it was a good start.
Besides, a great dike can collapse from a single anthole. To the current Isaac, Prince Norns was undoubtedly a behemoth. Be it in terms of top-tier combatants or his foundational power, the Prince’s resources ran deep.
Unless Isaac suddenly acquired some immense power, this was destined to be a war of attrition.
’Of course, I hope it’s a long war. If he loses too easily or dies too quickly, wouldn’t that be letting Prince Norns off too lightly?’
While Isaac was reviewing the summary of the Dimension Apostles’ recent activities, Liu Li and the other Apostles finished setting up the trading ritual.
The recent turmoil in the Wilderness had led to nearly all border lords being attacked by Black Orcs. However, due to the peculiar nature of the conflict, the vast majority of Black Orcs had died at the hands of their own kind. Forget being captured alive—not many had even been killed by humans.
The few that were taken captive had mostly undergone Demonization, rendering them of very little value.
Furthermore, the Black Orcs’ mass conscription had drastically reduced their population in the Wilderness, which in turn diminished the haul of the Wilderness Slave Capture Teams.
In short, there were fewer Black Orcs and more miscellaneous materials.
As a result, the entire Ritual Array looked somewhat bloated. Fortunately, Isaac’s Mage Tower was equipped with high-level spatial expansion technology. The interior was not only vast, but it could also accommodate the sprawling Magic Ceremony without issue.
With all preparations complete, Isaac dismissed the Dimension Apostles and Liu Li. He then performed a routine final check of the ritual. After confirming everything was in order, a faint aura of Magic Power flared around him as he activated the array, softly calling out to the Black Orc God.
The ritual proceeded smoothly. Soon, the gaze of the Black Orc God pierced through the distant Void, and an immense, towering phantom materialized within the Ritual Array before Isaac.
Isaac habitually tipped the wide brim of his hat, bowing in salute. "Greetings, great Black Orc God."
"Heh." The Black Orc God sneered at the Wizard before him. "Wizard, just say what you want. Spare me the false pleasantries."
Although the Black Orc God didn’t recognize Isaac as the one who had royally screwed him over before, He did recognize him as a Wizard. As an Evil God who dared to trade frequently with Mad Witches, He was well-acquainted with their kind. Thus, He couldn’t be bothered with pleasantries and cut straight to the chase.
"Venerable Black Orc God, I wish for you to bestow upon me the Forbidden Knowledge of Necromancy Magic!"
"Just Knowledge? How cautious. Fine, I’ll grant... Hmm? It’s you again! You thieving bastard!!!"
