Chapter 194: Chapter 153: A Crazy Plan
"Alright, I’ll explain the plan. Remember what I just said? The entire Itra Kingdom is one giant ritual site for a blood sacrifice."
"Yeah, you said... wait a minute!" Isaac first nodded, then shot up from his seat, looking at Philo with a mix of shock and excitement. "Holy shit, you lunatics! Don’t tell me you’re thinking of doing *that*?!"
Philo let out a quiet sigh. She knew that with just a small hint, Isaac would guess their plan. After all, this guy was the craziest Mad Witch of the old era!
But that was also precisely why it was possible to bring Isaac into the fold.
"Hm? What are you two talking about?" Angel’s brow furrowed. ’Isaac’s excitement... I didn’t see this in the future.’ "What are you planning to do?"
"It’s simple." Philo looked at Angel, the corners of her mouth twitching upward slightly as she said softly, "We’re going to sacrifice the entire Itra Kingdom!"
!!!
Angel was stunned. Beside her, Smith and Lorna were stunned as well. They had never imagined Philo’s plan would be so insane!
Sacrificing an entire Kingdom!
An act like this would be counted among the most infamous deeds in all of history!
"How dare you?!" Angel said in shock.
"Haha~ Of course they dare. Don’t forget, not many of the people in the Itra Kingdom right now are truly human!" As he spoke, a flash of excitement crossed Isaac’s eyes. After offering a brief explanation, he stared intently at Philo. "Since you’ve decided to tell me, I can join in, right?"
"It’s less about letting you join and more that this entire plan was designed for you." Philo’s gaze toward Isaac was somewhat complicated.
She had to admit once again that on the path of the Mad Witch, she couldn’t hold a candle to Isaac.
At least when she first heard about this plan from Great Arcanist Mensa, her initial reaction was shock and terror, not pure, unadulterated excitement like Isaac’s...
’This man... is a true lunatic!’
"Wait! Lord Isaac, you’re going to... sacrifice this country?" Lorna, standing behind Isaac, asked in shock after a moment of stunned silence.
"Don’t be nervous." Isaac waved his hand. "We’re not sacrificing the Ordinary people of this country, but the special life forms created by that Secret Treasure. So, it only looks scary. In reality, it won’t cause public outrage."
Philo watched Isaac talking so glibly, her mouth twitching slightly. ’Easy for him to say.’ While it was true that sacrificing these special, artificial life forms wouldn’t cause public outrage, there was a crucial prerequisite: the ritual absolutely could not fail!
Otherwise, they would go from being the officiants to the collaborators who led the enemy in...
They would be introducing the Outer God’s power, or even its very being, into this world!
At that point, public outrage would be the least of their problems.
This was also why her first reaction upon learning of the plan was fear. Not only was the ritual incredibly difficult, but the consequences of failure were catastrophic!
’Most importantly, I don’t stand to gain much from it!’
The goal of the transaction was to eliminate all members of the Itra Royal Family. For Philo, there wasn’t much personal gain in this; it was simply a contribution to her own Royal Family.
Although she had been inspired by Isaac and had slowly started to snatch things from Outer Gods herself, it was all under the protection of her father’s Emperor’s Decree. And the Emperor’s Decree absolutely could not be used in this ritual.
Otherwise, they might as well just send people to attack the Itra Kingdom head-on.
Philo sighed again, then took a Magic Book from her pocket and handed it to Isaac. She said solemnly, "Master Mensa asked me to give this to you. He said you should revise it as you see fit, according to your own ideas. There is only one requirement—the members of the Itra Royal Family must die at the hands of an Outer God!"
"That part’s simple enough." Isaac accepted the Magic Book but didn’t rush to open it. Instead, he stroked its cover and spoke softly. Finally, the corners of his mouth turned up, and he sat back down, asking with a smile, "Alright, I’ll take this commission. Now, let’s talk about payment."
???
Philo stared blankly at Isaac, and then she laughed. Out of sheer anger!
"You want payment?"
"What else?" Isaac said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "I may not know how you plan to set up the ritual or which Outer God you’re dealing with, but I can guarantee your chances of failure are very high. So let’s be clear: I am the one helping you. As for what I can gain from this ritual, that’s a matter of my own skill. Understand?"
Isaac wasn’t the least bit sheepish saying this, because it was just as he said. It would be very difficult for Philo to complete this ritual on her own. After all, the scale was enormous, and she didn’t have his knack for controlling the success rate.
And even if Isaac took over the ritual, the demands of the transaction were all for the Terra Royal Family. As for what benefits Isaac himself might get... well, that was none of their business. Whatever he picked up would be through his own skill.
’If you’re not happy with it, you can do it yourself. See if you can get anything extra.’
After hearing Isaac out, Philo, though still fuming, had to admit that he had a point...
If they were to perform the ritual themselves, even if they succeeded, they would only be able to achieve the basic objective. In fact, that was their only objective to begin with...
Snatching things directly from an Outer God—that was a little too thrilling. They wouldn’t even dare to dream of it!
"Sigh... So what do you want?" Philo felt like she had sighed more today than all the other days combined.
"Well now... I haven’t decided yet." Isaac grinned. This was just like when he had bought Lorna; a complete spur-of-the-moment decision.
Most importantly, having just received payment from the Terra Royal Family, he wasn’t short on cash at all and had no pressing needs for the time being.
If he had to name something, he was very interested in the Itra Kingdom’s Secret Treasure. But obviously, that item was very important to the Terra Royal Family. Perhaps after the dust settled, he could borrow it to play with for a while.
But right now, that was impossible.
"Fine. Then it’s settled. After this is over, the Terra Royal Family will owe you a favor."
Hearing this, Isaac raised an eyebrow in surprise. ’A favor...’
That kind of thing was quite valuable, at least for now.
"Understood. Now, let’s talk about our enemies this time." Isaac put away the Magic Book, a serious expression appearing on his face.
With a plan like this, their opponents wouldn’t just be the Rebel Army. The people on the Kingdom Army’s side would also be their enemies. They had to make pre-battle preparations.
And since Philo and her group had come up with this plan, they must have made preparations long ago.
Sure enough, over the next while, as Angel and the others looked on with hesitant expressions, Philo introduced the key figures from both factions who would definitely appear, as well as those who might.
And for each person, there was a thick file of intelligence!
The power of the Empire was on full display in that moment!
One had to understand, these individuals came from various countries and factions. Among them were even some who had been secretly trained and were out on their very first mission. To be able to gather intelligence on all of them...
Truly worthy of the Empire!
And so, time slowly passed. In the blink of an eye, the dim, yellow sunset cast a golden glow across the garden, shining directly on Isaac’s face, which was filled with excitement. Yet it was powerless to dispel even a sliver of shadow...
"Whew... What terrifying intelligence-gathering capabilities." Isaac took a deep look at the thick stack of files in his hand. He then crossed his hands, rested his chin on them, and looked at Philo with a smile. "Alright, that’s enough about the ritual for now. Let’s talk. Why did you resurrect my second brother? And with forbidden technology, no less..."
Philo froze, her expression gradually turning grave. Although Isaac was still smiling, she could feel the bone-chilling killing intent behind that smile!
She had no doubt that if her answer failed to satisfy him, the man before her would kill her without a moment’s hesitation!
It seemed somewhat irrational, but that was what her intuition told her.
"Remington... I wasn’t the one who resurrected him..."
