Chapter 190: Chapter 151: Resurrection and Reunion with an "Old Friend
No matter how one looked at him, Remington showed no trace of a necromantic aura. This was far from normal.
The original Remington had been as dead as one could be. To bring him back would require either true Resurrection Magic or Necromancy, but Remington’s current condition was neither.
The Resurrection Technique is a true Divine Art that can only be performed by a Deity or a Demigod-Level Wizard. Furthermore, this technique automatically repairs the deceased’s physical body. Even from a tiny scrap of flesh, the Divine Power of the spell can restore the body to perfect, pristine condition.
In other words, someone revived with the Resurrection Technique would have a physical body. His current situation, relying on a Mechanical Body for movement, is typical of an Undead construct—a product of Necromancy. While that type of magic can bring the dead back, they cannot possess their own fleshly body and can only inhabit a Mechanical Body.
Remington’s condition resembled that of an Undead construct, but it was only a resemblance. An Undead construct is still one of the Undead, possessing a large amount of Necromancy Magic Power. Yet, there wasn’t a single trace of Necromancy Magic Power in Remington’s body—not even regular Magic Power. Instead, it was filled with the Battle Qi of a Knight!
How incredible!
Remington didn’t answer Isaac’s question. Instead, he said, "The Eldest Princess is waiting for you inside. Let’s go."
With that, he strode into the manor, his heavy footsteps echoing. KLANK. KLANK. KLANK.
Watching Remington’s retreating figure, Isaac chuckled. ’Things are getting more and more interesting.’
"Come on, let’s go inside," Isaac said to Lorna, who was standing frozen in place, before striding after Remington.
"Ah? Oh, right." Lorna, snapping out of her daze, hurried after Isaac with small steps.
Along the path, she stuck close behind Isaac, craning her neck to peek furtively from him to Remington, her little face a mask of conflict.
"Heh..." Catching sight of Lorna’s troubled expression out of the corner of his eye, Isaac chuckled. "Curious about me and my brother?"
"Mhm!" Lorna nodded emphatically before she could stop herself, then quickly shook her head. A moment later, she looked at Isaac cautiously and whispered, "Is it okay to ask?"
"There’s nothing I can’t talk about. It’s all in the past," Isaac said, shaking his head.
And so, on the way to see the Eldest Princess, Isaac slowly recounted the gist of what had happened with Remington. After he finished, Lorna was silent for a moment before suddenly asking, "But aren’t you blood brothers? Why did things turn out this way?"
Remington, walking ahead of them, faltered for a half-step when he heard this, but then continued on as if nothing had happened. Isaac, on the other hand, let out a soft laugh and patted Lorna’s head. "Because he’s a textbook noble."
"Aren’t you one too?"
"Me?" Isaac retorted. "Aside from my title, do you think there’s anything about me that resembles your idea of a noble?"
"Huh? You’re right..." Lorna sank into thought.
"Don’t overthink it. The affairs of the Nobility aren’t worth your time. You only need to know one thing," Isaac said, pointing unabashedly at Remington leading the way. "If you get the chance, kill him."
"Huh?" Lorna was baffled again. ’Wait, can you really say something like that to his face? And...’ "Why do you have to kill him? Aren’t you brothers? Are you still holding a grudge?"
"Young Master, the Master and the Eldest Young Master must know about Young Master Remington’s resurrection. Could this be part of their plan?" Smith asked, looking at Remington up ahead with a sigh.
"But they didn’t mention it, so there’s no need to mind it. As for a grudge... heh." Isaac scoffed, his laugh laced with disdain. "What he did wasn’t enough to make me hate him. He’s just too stupid, and I despise idiots."
After saying this, Isaac glanced at Remington, who was still leading the way. He was somewhat surprised to see that Remington had no reaction whatsoever. Had this been the old him, he wouldn’t just be angry; he’d probably be radiating killing intent.
’Looks like dying once really helped him grow up.’
As they spoke, Remington led the three of them to a small garden behind the manor. The garden was filled with flowers of every color. In one corner, a small pavilion constructed from Magic Flower Vines stood, blending seamlessly with its surroundings. Though clearly man-made, it looked completely harmonious.
And in the garden pavilion sat two young women. One was Princess Philo, clad in a blue Wizard Robe; the other was the Witch, Angel, in a purple Wizard Robe. One was sipping tea, while the other quietly read a book. Both of their expressions were serene, as if they were old friends sitting together.
"Tsk, tsk. To think we’d all get the chance to meet again," Isaac said, swaggering into the pavilion. His eyes darted between the two women before settling on Angel. He gestured curiously toward Philo. "You can put up with this?"
"There’s nothing to put up with. After all, I can’t beat her in a fight." Angel paused, then continued, "Besides, the Terra Royal Family approached me. They gave me a huge sum of money to temporarily set aside my conflict with her. You must have received an offer too, right?"
"Mhm, but my offer was to make peace, not just set things aside temporarily. After all, I don’t have that big of a grudge against her," Isaac shrugged indifferently. Beside him, Philo pursed her lips, annoyed. ’Of course you don’t! I was the one who lost out every time! What grudge would you have?’
"What about you, though? Can you really let it go?" Isaac asked, looking at Angel curiously. Though he didn’t know the full details of their past, he figured it couldn’t have been anything pleasant.
After all, Angel was an Origin Witch. Her magic wasn’t prone to spiraling out of control like an Ordinary Witch’s. So, under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have been abandoned by her parents and should have had a very happy childhood.
But all of this was destroyed by Philo!
Frankly, if he were in her shoes, Isaac would definitely make Philo taste the bitterness of having her home and family destroyed.
So, were the Terra Royal Family out of their minds, giving Angel money?
Isn’t this just funding the enemy?
"I can’t beat her."
"Fair enough. Very convincing," Isaac nodded. He casually pulled up a chair and sat down, then looked at the two of them. "So, let’s hear it. Why are you two here? Let’s see if our goals conflict. All I want is the Kaleidoscope Eye."
As he spoke, something occurred to Isaac. He glanced back at Lorna and added, "And a Witch’s Certificate. I remember there are a few of those. I only need one."
The Witch’s Certificate was the core material for a Witch’s awakening ritual. This ritual could save a Witch years of hard work, allowing them to advance directly to the rank of Great Witch. On top of that, it was also quite useful to existing Great Witches, so it was always in high demand.
"The Witch’s Certificate is just a secondary objective for me. My real target is the Time Page, the third Secret Treasure of the Itra Kingdom." Angel glanced with surprise at Lorna, who was standing behind Isaac. ’To dare trail after the Mad Witch... she’s a lunatic!’
"In that case, it seems the three of us have no conflicting interests. What I want," Philo said with a smile, setting down her cup of red tea, "is the Itra Kingdom."
"Well, that’s a good... huh?" Isaac looked at Philo, stunned. ’Seriously, girl? We’re all just Tier Two Wizards. Where did you get an appetite that big?’
In contrast to Isaac’s astonishment, Angel’s expression remained unchanged. It seemed she already knew Philo’s objective.
Isaac stared at Philo in bewilderment for a moment before shifting his gaze back to Angel. "I’m still confused," he asked curiously. "Why are you two together? Is it a case of love born from hatred?"
Isaac smelled gossip on the wind!
"That’s not it. I was waiting here for you," Angel said, her expression as calm as ever.
"For me?" Isaac froze, utterly confused.
"Mhm. I knew you would come to this country. The Time Page is very important to me, so I had no choice."
Though her expression remained placid, Isaac detected a hint of resignation in her voice. ’So... that’s all it is?’
Of course, that was all there was to it. If she had any other choice, Angel wouldn’t want to get tangled up with the Mad Witch Isaac. The man was a complete and utter lunatic!
But she had no choice. Isaac might be a lunatic, but it was an undeniable fact that he was incredibly strong.
She had seen the future, and to obtain the Time Page, her only path was to cooperate with Isaac...
