Chapter 436: Chapter 89: Wind, Thunder, Water
"What!" Muriyas’s face, disguised as Bellardi’s, twisted in shock!
The Church Court had clearly known he was here all along!
The half-hearted rescue attempt, the seemingly careless gap in the Temple Knights’ defensive line—it was all a trap to lure him in!
Ete I pointed his Scepter, no longer holding anything back.
A stream of light split off from the magnificent, pale-gold field of the Wall of Faith. It was condensed to its absolute limit, almost like liquid gold!
Like living chains, this stream of light ignored the distance, surging from all directions to instantly coil around and seal the entire ten-meter area around "Bellardi"!
"So that’s how it is... a deliberate show of weakness to draw me out..." "Bellardi’s" voice, bound by the streams of gold, was filled with the rage of being duped. He tried to struggle, but the chains of light, condensed from Faith Willpower, carried the weight of innumerable prayers and convictions. They were heavy as mountains, and he couldn’t break free.
Cracked patterns began to appear on Bellardi’s body. The earthen color of his skin quickly faded, revealing a darker, more profound essence beneath—one that seemed connected to the endless veins of the earth itself.
"Remnant of the Shadow of the Earth, you shall be purified!" Ete I declared coldly, exchanging a look with the Northern Great Shepherd Leader.
Their minds in perfect sync, they both tightened their control over the Wall of Faith, intending to completely purify and eliminate this hidden threat in one fell swoop.
The golden chains of light suddenly tightened, erupting in a blaze as dazzling as the Sun!
"Bellardi" let out an inhuman howl, a mixture of agony and resentment. His entire body began to disintegrate and dissolve in the brilliant fire of faith, like ice and snow melting under the Sun.
In an instant, he was reduced to ash.
Ete I and the Great Shepherd Leader turned their attention to the now-suppressed Plane Rift, preparing to close it for good in one final push.
But then, a sudden twist!
The corpse of "Bellardi," which had been pierced by several Light Spears and lay on the ground, suddenly softened and collapsed like a melting wax figure. It quickly seeped into the ground and vanished.
And at that very same moment, at the edge of the altar, in the shadows just a step behind Elizabeth, the ground bulged silently, and a new "Bellardi" took form.
Or rather, another of Muriyas’s avatars.
It took form with incredible speed, a withered hand wreathed in an extremely dense, deathly-still, earthy-yellow light, thrusting straight for Elizabeth’s undefended back!
"Saint, look out!" The Temple Knight Captain on guard roared, his eyes wide with fury as he swung his sword. But the distance was too short, and the enemy’s surprise attack was too fast. His blade only managed to slice through an afterimage!
Elizabeth seemed to sense the mortal danger behind her. A flicker of alarm crossed her pale face, but in her current state, she was unable to react effectively and could only manage to twist her body slightly to the side.
"How dare you!" Ete I and the Great Shepherd Leader roared at the same time, trying to intervene, but in that fleeting instant...
"Hahaha! The time has come!"
"We’ve played with you for long enough! This is the moment we’ve been waiting for!"
"The Wall of Faith... has a crack in it now!"
The voices of Calvin, Raphael, and Sigrid erupted from the rift at almost the same time!
The powers of wind, thunder, and water, far from weakening, seemed to have been gathering their final strength. They suddenly erupted with a ferocious power that far surpassed their previous attacks!
Jade-green wind blades tore through the air, and azure lightning coalesced into several thick Thunder Spears.
An azure flood surged, raising a hundred-meter-tall wave that crashed against the altar’s base with overwhelming force.
This sudden, perfectly coordinated three-pronged assault was meant for one thing: to buy that single, crucial moment!
The Wall of Faith trembled violently, its pale-gold light flickering erratically.
The expressions on the faces of Ete I and the Great Shepherd Leader changed. They were forced to divert the majority of their focus and power to stabilize the core of the faith barrier.
If the Wall of Faith were to be shattered at this moment, the backlash from the Faith Origin would be unimaginable!
And that momentary, almost negligible, delay was all it took.
Muriyas’s hand, wreathed in that deathly-still, earthen light, was about to touch the moon-white ceremonial robe on Elizabeth’s back!
