Chapter 511: Chapter 510 Something Big Happened
Liu Zheng sat on the sofa, drenched all over. Li Mingyue looked at him, concern apparent in her voice as she asked, "Si Chen, how did you get caught in the rain? Tell Mummy, what exactly happened?"
Liu Zheng smiled and said, "It’s nothing! I just had a bit to drink." After finishing, he took out a few pills from his pocket and handed them to Li Mingyue, "Mummy, take your medicine! Hasn’t your condition worsened?"
Li Mingyue accepted the pills and swallowed a few, then she said, "I’m fine, you don’t have to worry about me." Saying this, she stood up, ready to go upstairs to change her clothes.
"Mummy, I’ll accompany you upstairs!" Saying this, Liu Zheng followed Li Mingyue to the second floor.
"Mummy, let me help you take a bath," said Liu Zheng as he handed a towel to Li Mingyue.
"You want to bathe me?" Li Mingyue asked Liu Zheng, surprised.
Liu Zheng nodded with a smile and then went into the bathroom. Before long, the sound of pattering water came through, mixed with Liu Zheng’s laughter. Li Mingyue glanced at the bathroom door, feeling a sweetness in her heart, and couldn’t help but smile gently.
After Liu Zheng helped Li Mingyue take off her clothes, he began to carefully wipe her body. Noticing a scar on the front of her chest, he touched it gently, a trace of distress in his eyes.
"This must be from a gunshot wound," Liu Zheng murmured softly.
After wiping her body, Liu Zheng helped Li Mingyue get dressed, then supported her out of the bathroom. He helped her back to bed, covered her with a blanket, gently stroked her hair, and said softly, "Have a good sleep, and you’ll be fine tomorrow!" After speaking, Liu Zheng turned and left the room.
Li Mingyue lay in bed, looking out at the dark night through the window, her gaze gradually becoming clearer. A faint smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. In fact, she had already recovered, needing no medication. But she still wanted her injuries to heal as best as they could.
"Uncle Li, I’m sorry, I won’t be able to keep my promise," Li Mingyue thought to herself as she looked out the window.
"It wasn’t on purpose, it was just because I don’t want to lose you. No matter the cost, I’m willing," those were the words she had once told her father in the hospital.
Li Mingyue gazed at the dark night sky, whispering softly, "Si Chen, I will do my best to protect you, to make you happy." After saying this, she closed her eyes and fell deeply asleep...
The next morning, as the sunlight streamed into the room, Li Mingyue slowly woke up. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and saw Liu Zheng’s handsome face. A radiant smile immediately spread across her face.
"Si Chen, good morning!"
Upon hearing her voice, Liu Zheng also immediately opened his eyes. His gaze met Li Mingyue’s. In the instant their eyes locked, both were slightly startled, then smiled at each other.
Liu Zheng got out of bed, got dressed, and said with a beaming smile, "Baby, you are getting more and more beautiful! Did you sleep well last night?"
Li Mingyue’s cheeks turned a light red as she replied, "It was okay, thank you for your concern, Si Chen." Saying this, Li Mingyue threw back the quilt, got out of bed, and headed to the bathroom.
Liu Zheng watched Li Mingyue’s graceful and sexy figure as she walked away, swallowing hard, then went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and found some ingredients to prepare breakfast for noon.
While Liu Zheng was getting breakfast ready, Li Mingyue came out and said, "Si Chen, let me cook today!"
"Sure!" Liu Zheng smiled, turned his head to Li Mingyue, and said, "Baby, what would you like to eat today? I’ll go buy groceries."
"Anything’s fine! I’m not picky!" Li Mingyue said with a smile.
"Alright, I’ll go now!" With those words, Liu Zheng turned and headed towards the entryway, changing shoes, grabbing his bag, opening the car door...
Li Mingyue watched Liu Zheng leave with a blissful smile on her face. She knew that the fate between her and Liu Zheng might be coming to an end here. But even so, Li Mingyue still had no regrets about her decision. At least before leaving this place, she could spend time with Liu Zheng.
Li Mingyue put on an apron and began preparing breakfast.
"Huh?" Suddenly, she realized there seemed to be something attached to her waist. Out of curiosity, she took it off and was surprised to find a necklace quietly lying there, twinkling with a crystal-clear glow.
Li Mingyue held the necklace in her hands, her gaze entranced. She remembered this necklace was a very common style, a simple platinum necklace, and it was also the really cheap kind. But in Li Mingyue’s heart, it was incomparably precious.
Once upon a time, she tried every method to please Liu Zheng, even performing a pole dance in front of him. But Liu Zheng never gave her a gift, and this necklace was the only one.
Looking at the necklace, a thought flashed through Li Mingyue’s mind: Could it be that Si Chen had already given this necklace to her?
"Si Chen..." Li Mingyue murmured softly, her eyes gradually reddening, tears streaming down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe that she had actually received a betrothal gift from Si Chen. It was a lifelong promise, how could she dare to forget.
"Silly girl, why are you crying!" Liu Zheng walked in from outside, seeing Li Mingyue wiping away her tears. He walked over to Li Mingyue, gently wiped the tears from her face, and asked softly, "Baby, what’s wrong? Who’s bullying you? I’ll teach them a lesson for you."
Li Mingyue looked up, shook her head, and said, "No... nobody’s bullying me, I’m just too excited."
Looking into Li Mingyue’s big eyes full of Spiritual Energy, shimmering with watery mist, Liu Zheng knew she must be hiding something. But since Li Mingyue didn’t want to talk about it, he didn’t press further. After all, it was Li Mingyue’s privacy, and he had no right to interfere.
"Si Chen, are you ready for breakfast?" Li Mingyue asked.
"Yeah, of course! You go ahead and eat, I will eat in a bit." Saying this, Liu Zheng went into the bathroom to wash up.
Li Mingyue, looking at herself in the mirror, sighed softly. She didn’t want Liu Zheng to see her tears, and she definitely didn’t want him to know about her illness. Although Liu Zheng’s cultivation speed was rapid, she knew that with his current age and realm, he definitely couldn’t cure her disease or lift the curse.
Therefore, it was better for Liu Zheng not to worry about her and to just live his life well. Thinking this, Li Mingyue turned around, sat at the table, and began eating breakfast.
Liu Zheng finished washing up quickly and, after stepping out of the bathroom, saw Li Mingyue elegantly drinking milk, eating fried eggs, and sandwiches, looking every bit the lady who wouldn’t touch spring water. Seeing Li Mingyue’s manners, Liu Zheng inwardly praised: That’s more like it! Worthy of being my precious girl, not bad, really good!
"Si Chen, come over and sit down, try my cooking and see how it is!" Li Mingyue waved Liu Zheng over.
Liu Zheng grinned and quickly walked to the table.
As soon as Liu Zheng approached, Li Mingyue immediately put a fried egg in Liu Zheng’s bowl, and said with a pout, "Eat more!"
Liu Zheng frowned slightly, "Baby, why don’t you like greasy food anymore? You used to like everything I cooked before, why not now...?"
"Si Chen, it’s not that I think the food you make is greasy, I’m just not used to eating fried foods!" Li Mingyue hurriedly explained.
Liu Zheng just let out an "Oh" and didn’t delve deeper. He believed his precious girl wouldn’t lie to him; she must have her reasons.
"Does it taste good?" Li Mingyue asked with a smile.
