Chapter 485: Chapter 484: Uncooperative
The two talked for a while before Liu Zheng’s father requested to go home and rest.
"Liu Zheng, you take Dad back home," said Yang Ruoxi.
"Ruoxi, maybe I should stay to take care of you," Liu Zheng’s father said with concern as he looked at Yang Ruoxi.
"There’s no need, Uncle Liu, with your current health condition, it would be better for you to go home and rest early. Otherwise, if this continues, there will eventually be problems," Yang Ruoxi reasoned.
"Alright then, I’ll be leaving. If you need anything, just call me."
After Liu Zheng’s father gave his instructions, he then left.
Liu Zheng pushed the wheelchair, following behind Yang Ruoxi back to her house.
Liu Zheng took his father back home.
At home, aside from Li Yuemei and Liu Qian, there were two unfamiliar men.
"Ruoxi, why are you coming back so late, have you been out fooling around?" Li Yuemei said sharply.
Yang Ruoxi frowned slightly and said blandly, "Mom, can’t you be more civil? Don’t swear at the drop of a hat!"
"You!" Li Yuemei pointed at Yang Ruoxi, scolding angrily.
"Enough, Yuemei, stop making a scene. Ruoxi now has her own social circle, do you really have to keep her tied to your apron strings?" Liu Qian quickly intervened.
"Hmph! If I don’t keep an eye on her, is she just going to carry on with that Liu Zheng?" Li Yuemei sneered.
"Auntie Li, there’s nothing between Ruoxi and Liu Zheng, they are just friends," Liu Zheng defended Yang Ruoxi.
"Nothing? Liu Zheng, don’t you forget, Ruoxi is married to you now, you have to take responsibility for her, otherwise..." Li Yuemei trailed off into tears.
Yang Ruoxi sighed, "Alright, I understand, I will be more mindful in the future."
Seeing that Yang Ruoxi had agreed, Li Yuemei finally stopped her tears, but she still didn’t let up verbally, "You better remember, Yang Ruoxi, you are my daughter, and your marriage is not just your own affair, it also concerns the entire Yang family. Don’t bring shame to us."
Liu Qian, seeing her mother being so aggressive, was also frustrated.
But considering it was an issue between mother and daughter, she felt it was not her place to intervene and held her tongue.
In her heart, however, Liu Qian had a thought: now that Ruoxi had agreed, in the future she would make her own decisions about her affairs.
She didn’t want Yang Ruoxi to become someone else’s wife.
"Enough, Li Yuemei, stop arguing," said Liu Zheng in a stern voice, "It’s getting late, you should go to bed."
Li Yuemei glared at Liu Zheng but, seeing the seriousness on his face, didn’t dare to be too presumptuous and reluctantly walked into the bedroom.
Liu Zheng helped his father onto the bed and covered him with the blanket.
"Dad, you go to sleep, I’ll stay here with you," said Liu Zheng tenderly.
Patting his shoulder affectionately, Liu Zheng’s father said, "Silly boy, you should go to sleep early too."
"Mm," Liu Zheng nodded gently.
"Where’s Ruoxi?" Liu Zheng turned and asked Yang Ruoxi, who was standing at the doorway.
"Oh, I’m about to go to sleep too," said Yang Ruoxi.
"See you tomorrow then."
"See you tomorrow." Yang Ruoxi returned to her room and gently locked the door.
Early the next morning, after Liu Zheng got up and washed up, he took his father out of the house.
Liu Zheng’s father, sitting in the wheelchair and looking out the window, suddenly asked, "What about Ruoxi? Aren’t you going to the company today?"
"I’m not going to the company today," said Liu Zheng, "Dad, once you get better, I’ll take you to the company."
"No need, I’m fine; I’ll go by myself once I’m better."
"Okay, I’ll take you to the hospital first, then head to the company."
Liu Zheng took his father straight to First City Hospital.
After arriving at the hospital and settling his father in, Liu Zheng hurried to the ward, where Yang Ruoxi was already waiting for him.
"Liu Zheng, why are you here?" Yang Ruoxi looked at him in surprise, a bad feeling starting to form in her heart.
As expected, Liu Zheng began, "Ruoxi, there’s something I need to tell you."
"I know what you’re about to say, but please, don’t hurt my father, okay?" Yang Ruoxi pleaded earnestly.
"No, Ruoxi, you’ve got it wrong," Liu Zheng shook his head.
"Then what is it?" Yang Ruoxi looked at him nervously, her heart racing.
"Last night, I took my dad to the hospital, and the doctor said he needed to have a bone marrow transplant immediately."
"What?" Yang Ruoxi’s face turned pale in an instant, and her eyes filled with tears, "Why didn’t the doctor tell me earlier? Why didn’t they tell me before?"
"I don’t know either, I only found out yesterday," Liu Zheng said helplessly, spreading his hands, "I just found out, so I came to discuss this matter with you."
"Where’s my dad now?"
"Ruo Xi, don’t panic, the doctor’s advice might be right, but I don’t want to see you struggle so much, and I don’t want you to feel wronged," Liu Zheng said as he held Yang Ruoxi’s hands, "So, I hope you won’t refuse my dad’s donation. I want to help share some of the burden."
Yang Ruoxi looked at Liu Zheng blankly, "But, I’m afraid my dad’s money isn’t enough."
"I will do my utmost," Liu Zheng said firmly.
Yang Ruoxi nodded, her eyes still brimming with tears.
"Okay, don’t cry now, I’ll go handle the paperwork," Liu Zheng soothed softly.
"Thank you," Yang Ruoxi said gratefully.
Liu Zheng nodded and then went to take care of the hospital admission procedures.
Soon, a series of screams came from the operating room.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
"Help!"
Yang Ruoxi and Liu Qian were both terrified and immediately ran over to see what was happening.
The operating room was brightly lit, and there was also a piercing alarm sounding.
It seemed that the person inside the operating room was probably more likely to be dead than alive.
"What do we do?" Liu Qian asked in panic, grabbing Yang Ruoxi’s arm, "Ruo Xi, think of something quickly, what should we do now?"
"Sister Qian, don’t panic, let’s wait for the doctor to come out," Yang Ruoxi tried to remain calm, though she was actually very anxious, but she kept a composed appearance.
Liu Qian calmed down a bit after hearing Yang Ruoxi’s words.
Soon, the door to the operating room opened, and several medical staff members came out.
It looked like the person inside had died.
Yang Ruoxi and Liu Qian both rushed forward, grabbing the medical staff.
"Don’t touch me," the medical staff member said, struggling angrily.
Yang Ruoxi and Liu Qian let go.
Yang Ruoxi looked at the doctor: "Doctor, what happened to the person inside?"
"Sigh, the patient had late-stage brain cancer, resuscitation was ineffective, he’s passed away," the doctor sighed.
Yang Ruoxi and Liu Qian were both stunned.
Late-stage brain cancer? How could this be?
Yang Ruoxi couldn’t accept it.
Seeing Yang Ruoxi’s disbelief, the doctor said, "The patient suddenly had a stroke three days ago. After examination, the doctors confirmed the patient already had a brain aneurysm, and without prompt surgery, his life was at risk at any moment."
"Brain cancer..."
Yang Ruoxi murmured to herself, feeling extremely distressed as tears streamed down her face.
Seeing the two women’s sorrowful faces, the doctor sighed: "Please accept my condolences," and then he left.
Yang Ruoxi and Liu Qian supported each other and went back to their father’s side.
"Dad, you must pull through," Liu Qian said, crying.
Yang Ruoxi too cried uncontrollably, her eyes filled with despair.
Liu Zheng also felt a pang of sorrow; it was the first time he’d seen Yang Ruoxi so out of control.
"Ruo Xi, stop crying," Liu Zheng consoled, "I think my dad must have been affected by the hard work recently, and also because of his weak health."
Yang Ruoxi nodded with a choke: "Yes, my dad must not have been able to bear it, otherwise, how could this have happened?"
"I will take good care of your mom, so you don’t have to worry," Liu Zheng said, "Now, we need to contact my mom as soon as possible, I believe she has been waiting for me."
"Yes, I understand," Yang Ruoxi wiped away her tears, "You can count on me."
