Chapter 956: Chapter 929: Immortal Phantom Demon
Scapegoat, if I remember correctly, Yugen remembers this should be an Adjusted Monster.
Of course, this is not surprising. It’s not the first time he’s seen an Adjusted Monster in this pre-Synchro era, only that no one has yet discovered the concept of Adjusted Monsters. For modern Duelists, they’re just ordinary Effect Monsters, with no one realizing their potential for Level Adjustment.
So if it were in the future, the derivatives from Scapegoat’s effect would immediately be seen as preparation for Synchro Summon the next turn. But for now, it’s probably intended as a sacrifice for an Upper-level Summon.
In that case...
"My turn, draw a card."
The Bishop drew a card. At the same time, the "Draw Phase" text flashed across both Duel Discs, followed by the appearance of "Preparation Phase" text.
At that moment, Yugen snapped his fingers.
"Activate Cover Card.
Trap Card - Mount Tai Pressing Down!"
The trap flips, and immediately a metal ceiling appears in the air above both fields, covered with countless spikes, pressing down like Mount Tai on both entire fields!
"Mount Tai Pressing Down can only be activated when there are four or more monsters on both fields," Yugen said, "Destroy all monsters present face-up!"
The Bishop raised an eyebrow slightly. The congregation below couldn’t help but stir.
Although there are indeed five monsters on the field, the Bishop has four on his side, while the opponent has only one. From a quantity perspective, this Mount Tai Pressing Down does seem to create a significant resource gap.
But on Yugen’s side, there’s the Divine Flame Emperor!
Is this guy really planning to exchange the Divine Flame Emperor to get rid of four zero-attack derivative monsters?
The Bishop quickly reacted, his brow furrowing slightly: "Divine Flame Emperor Uriah... Phantom Demon has resistance to all traps?"
"Correct." Yugen smiled, "Traps have no effect on Phantom Demons."
In the animation effects, the Three Phantom Demons are immune to any trap effects and only accept Magic Card effects activated within this turn.
"Therefore, the only monsters destroyed by Mount Tai Pressing Down are yours," Yugen said.
The Divine Flame Emperor proudly raised its head again, letting out another arrogant roar, appearing high-spirited.
As the spiked ceiling crashed down from the sky, the four little scapegoats were instantly pierced by countless spikes, their forms shattered, and in an instant they perished without a trace.
The Bishop paused for a moment, squinted his eyes.
"Destroyed my offerings?" the Bishop said, "Saw through my tactics and preemptively countered. Indeed, you are the worthy chosen one."
This expression again, once spoken through the mouth of the Charming Queen last time.
"What, do you wish for me to join forces with you?" Yugen smiled.
"You possess that potential. More importantly, an astonishing inner darkness. If you haven’t noticed, it’s merely because you’ve been intentionally ignoring it.
But it doesn’t matter, we will help you accept the best version of yourself."
The Bishop slowly drew out a card from his hand again.
"I Normal Summon ’Fur Beast Attacker’."
Covered in dark brown fur, the Beast Race Warrior was summoned from Katu, carrying an oversized iron hammer on its back.
[Fur Beast Attacker, Attack Power 1850]
"The effect of Fur Beast Attacker, once per turn, discard a card from the hand, Special Summon a ’Fur Impact’ from the deck."
The Bishop sent a hand card to the graveyard.
"Special Summon ’Fur Impact’ from the deck."
[Fur Impact, Attack Power 100]
"Then activate the monster effect of ’King of Furred Beasts’ from the graveyard!" the Bishop said, "Sacrifice the face-up ’Fur Impact’ on the field, you can Special Summon this card from your hand or graveyard.
Sacrifice ’Fur Impact’ on the field to revive from the graveyard—
——King of Furred Beasts, summon!"
The pitch-black fur almost covers the entire body, the enormous beast returns to the field from the vortex of the graveyard, its thick fur extending metal-like golden legs to support itself on the ground, its golden visage repulsive.
[King of Furred Beasts, Attack Power 2500]
Yugen: "So it was sent to the graveyard with Handwriting Erasure."
"Correct." The Bishop sneered, "As I said, Handwriting Erasure provides the opponent with chances for graveyard resources equally, opportunity, and risk coexist."
"But this level isn’t enough to defeat the Divine Flame Emperor," Yugen reminded, "Because after the Trap Card ’Mount Tai Pressing Down’ was activated in this turn, the number of Trap Cards in the graveyard increased, and the Attack Power of the Divine Flame Emperor also rose."
[Divine Flame Emperor Uriah, Attack Power 3000]
"I know." The Bishop said, "Then activate Equipment Magic ’Demon’s Axe’, equipping ’King of Furred Beasts’, increasing Attack Power by 1000 points!"
[King of Furred Beasts, Attack Power 2500→Attack Power 3500]
The Bishop raised his hand to command: "Battle.
Use ’King of Furred Beasts’ to attack ’Divine Flame Emperor Uriah’!"
The Fur Beast King roared fiercely, its dense black fur bristling like porcupine quills, then fired like countless arrows at the Divine Flame Emperor.
The Divine Flame Emperor also roared unwillingly, but now, its state truly couldn’t withstand the Fur Beast King. The red dragon body was soon pierced by countless metal-like fur, exploded into a huge fireball with a bang.
[Yugen, LP4000→LP3500]
The crowd below immediately cheered. The Phantom Demon seemed not much after all, nowhere near their Evil God’s match.
"Next is ’Fur Beast Attacker.’" The Bishop said, "Directly attack the player!"
The beast race warrior covered in fur roared violently, swung the large hammer in its hand, coming straight at Yugen.
"Then activate Cover Card." Yugen said, "Speed Attack Magic ’Scapegoat.’
Special Summon four sheep derivatives on my field."
The magic activated, releasing four beams of golden light. These beams landed on the Monster Zone on Yugen’s field, coalescing into the image of small sheep, squinting as if dozing.
[Sheep Derivative, Defense Power 0]x4
"Sheep aren’t your exclusive privilege." Yugen smiled.
The Bishop didn’t lose composure: "Then Fur Beast Attacker, break one of the sheep first."
Fur Beast Attacker adjusted its attack direction, swung the hammer down hard. A sheep was smashed into tears and exploded into fragments.
"Set a card facedown, turn end."
The Bishop chuckled softly.
"Phantom Demon Divine Flame Emperor, defeated." he said lightly, "It seems that the so-called Phantom Demon wasn’t much after all."
"Is it really so?" Yugen showed a smile that was ambiguous yet carried a mysterious threat.
"What?"
Yugen didn’t immediately respond.
"My turn, draw a card."
Straight away, only moments later, everyone was stunned to see magma-like flames shoot up into the sky! The blaze whirling as if the wrath from hell itself, the outline of a dragon gradually appeared in the fire pillar. Its red body seemed to flash with molten lava, the roaring mouth appeared to contain flames, the long tail swung, stirring a gigantic dust wave.
Divine Flame Emperor Uriah, revival!
