"This kind of monster?" Kira smiled. "That’s disrespectful. Monsters this cool and explosive are one in a million!"
Lava Golem let out a deep, proud growl in agreement.
"Tch, this kind of monster..."
Akiza glared up at the burning demon, at the iron cage binding her, her anger growing.
"I’ll destroy it, right now!
I normal summon the tuner monster, ’Twilight Rose Knight!’"
A blue-haired, black-clad swordsman leapt onto her field, swinging a longsword that trailed a silver arc of starlight, his small white cloak fluttering behind him.

"Normally, when you summon a monster, ’Black Garden’ would special summon a Rose Token to my field," noted Kira. "But my monster zones are full, so that can’t happen. No Rose Token summoned."
Akiza frowned slightly.
He’s sealed off my attacks and is burning me with Lava Golem. With his monster zones full, I can’t even use my Black Garden and Rose Flame combo to burn him... Is that his aim?
But—
"Twilight Rose Knight’s monster effect—when summoned successfully, I can special summon a Level 4 or lower Plant-type monster from my hand."
Akiza revealed another card in her hand.
"Special summon ’Lord Poison!’"
More zombie than plant, this monster’s body emanated a sinister aura—an undead lurking straight out of its grave.
The Lord Poison, originally a signature card for Yami Marik in Battle City before being used by Akiza in 5D’s, had always fit the undead plant aesthetic.

The little knight swung his sword, tracing three rings in the air. They became halos that encircled Lord Poison, whose body dissolved into four glowing stars aligning in a line.
"Chilling flames enshroud the world—dark blossoms, bloom!"
Akiza raised her slender arm.
"Synchro Summon—
Black Rose Dragon!!!"
Within the black garden sealed by vines, a roar of shattered metal and ancient wood echoed. Rose petals, now blood-red flames, became dragon wings. The rose dragon let out an icy howl from the vortex of petals.

"There it is—the Black Rose Dragon..." Kira muttered, glancing at Akiza again. The dragon mark on her arm was still glowing; her aura, which seemed to have plateaued before, now ticked up slightly with her ace’s appearance.
If anything, it was only natural—a Signer’s ace dragon boosted the duelist in every way.
But still not enough.
"Black Rose Dragon’s effect!" Akiza intoned coldly. "On Synchro Summon, destroy all cards on the field—including itself!"
Akiza clenched her fist midair.
"Destroy everything—the whole world—let it all burn!"
Obeying its master, Black Rose Dragon threw its head back and roared in fury.
Cards across the field were pierced by the dragon’s erupting roots; spiraling rose scales shredded Tytannial, skewered the Lava Golem, and shattered all the remaining Rose Tokens in Akiza’s field.
In Kira’s memory, Black Rose Dragon was a staple in Synchro era—ubiquitous in the extra, sometimes even semi-limited for its amazing board wipe.
If you were ever completely behind, both front and back rows filled, you could just summon Black Rose Dragon—reset the entire field, starting afresh.
A field wipe for all!
Of course, the Swords of Revealing Light locking her field also shattered in the tempest, and the burning black garden was consumed as flaming roots fell, collapsing the whole arena.
Indiscriminate, all-consuming destruction—even its own field is wiped clean. This is Black Rose Dragon; in its frenzy it even blows itself away.

But at that moment, Akiza pressed a button on her Duel Disk, flipping open her final set card.

Black Rose Dragon wipes the field, but chain this trap and you can send it back to the extra deck—dodging your own destruction, and summoning it again next turn.
Black Rose Dragon dissolved into purple light and returned to Akiza’s extra deck, and everything else was swept clean by the hurricane of roses.

A dark vortex opened once more on her field—flames spewed forth, and a scarlet rose, reborn like a phoenix. Crimson petals unfurled, its fire flaring outward as if reflecting its controller’s anger.
As long as there were enough plants in her grave to use as fodder, Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis could revive again and again.
