Chapter 1031: Chapter 1031: Weapons of Mass Destruction

It wasn’t just Mokuba—even the others watching at the lab were shocked Paradox would trade End Dragon for card draw. But Kira wasn’t surprised.

Paradox clearly had nothing to turn the situation around. If he didn’t create a chance to draw, he’d just wait to die. Confidence in one’s draws is the mark of a top duelist. You can’t hesitate for fear of bricking; you need to create opportunities by all means.

Anyone who lacks confidence in their draws doesn’t belong on the duel field.

"Set one monster in face-down Defense Position."

Paradox set his monster grimly.

"One face-down in the back row as well, then end my turn."

Kira said, "My turn. Draw."

He glanced at his card and revealed it.

"Spell Card ’Magic Planter.’ Send a Continuous Spell you control to the graveyard to draw two cards." (Anime effect)

He sent his Continuous Spell to the grave.

"I send ’Fountain in the Sky’ to the grave to draw two cards."

The fountain sank into the mist, scattering in white light. Kira drew two more cards.

"Now I activate ’Star Blast!’" Kira declared. "Choose a monster in my hand or on my field, and pay LP in multiples of 500.

For each 500 LP, reduce that monster’s level by 1."

With his LP so high, he could ignore the cost. Kira pointed at Marshmallon:

"I choose Level 3 ’Marshmallon.’ Pay 1000 LP to lower its level by 2!"

[Kira, LP 15900 → LP 14900]

Paradox frowned. "Lowering Marshmallon’s level on purpose?"

It seemed pointless, but Paradox was now wary: this Duel King didn’t play by any normal logic, and every move made him uneasy.

"Marshmallon is now a Level 1 Fairy," Kira smiled. "Now, from my hand, I activate the Continuous Spell ’Court of Justice!’"

A ring of golden light formed above the Sanctuary. Holy light shone down, like a path to the heavens.

"Court of Justice: If you control a Level 1 Fairy, you can, once per turn, Special Summon any Fairy from your hand."

Paradox: "!"

So that’s why he lowered Marshmallon’s level—to meet the Level 1 Fairy condition!

Normally, Level 1 Fairies are weak and rarely survive until next turn. But Marshmallon is notoriously hard to destroy. If left alone, Kira could Special Summon a Fairy from hand every turn for free.

Paradox’s gaze turned cold.

This combo needed to be broken quickly.

"Court of Justice’s effect: I Special Summon a Fairy from my hand.

This turn, I summon—"

Kira raised his arm. Holy light burst from the ring, and a mighty angel descended, clad in pure white armor with fiery red wings.

Archlord Kristya, summoned!

[Archlord Kristya, ATK 2800]

Mokuba recognized the card and sweated:

"Kira really doesn’t let anyone breathe."

At this point, the opponent was completely suppressed. Mokuba, despite not knowing Paradox, actually felt a bit sorry for this otherworldly visitor. To cross time and space and run into Kira right away—it was just bad luck.

Even Paradox’s lips twitched, his face turning grim.

"Kristya...I remember its effect..."

"Oh? So you know about it?" Kira smiled. "Correct. While Kristya is on the field, neither player can Special Summon monsters!"

Paradox: "..."

No Special Summons.

His so-called strongest-of-the-era Malefic deck relied on Special Summoning—none of his monsters except the minor ones could be Normal Summoned. His entire deck was full of high-level Malefics, only accessible via Special Summon.

Normally, that was the deck’s strength: no tributes, just field huge monsters in droves.

But no Special Summons meant...he basically couldn’t play!

Other than a handful of support monsters, he was locked out. Even drawing a wall was tough now.

Paradox’s glare turned even darker.

It wasn’t his imagination—this Duel King, missing from history, was pure poison.

From his personality to his dueling, everything about him was toxic!

He’d been on the back foot the entire time, but this guy seemed determined to lock him out completely.

"Battle," Kira said. "Kristya, attack the face-down monster!"

The archangel rose, fiery wings firing a hail of light like a barrage. The holy light covered the face-down card.

The set monster flipped up—a round, black, pot-like creature with a cheeky eye and a grinning green mouth.

[Morphing Jar, DEF 600]

"Morphing Jar!" Paradox called. "When flipped, both players discard their entire hands, then draw until they have five cards!"

Morphing Jar was pierced by the holy barrage, but not before its effect triggered. Both sides refilled their hands.

"Thanks to a monster effect, he’s restocked his hand," Mokuba smiled. "But unless he can play them, this attack decides the duel!"
