Chapter 1006: Chapter 1006: The Three of Us

Butterfly Dagger – Elma!

"First, add Butterfly Dagger – Elma to my hand," Kira said. "Royal Magical Library now has three counters.

I remove all three counters to draw a card."

Kira: "Now, equip ’Butterfly Dagger – Elma’ to Gearfried!"

"Butterfly Dagger – Elma’s effect: the equipped monster gains 300 ATK.

I equip Butterfly Dagger to ’Gearfried the Iron Knight’, increasing his ATK by 300."

[Gearfried the Iron Knight | ATK 1800 → 2100]

"Now, Gearfried’s effect: when an Equip Card is equipped to this card, destroy that Equip Card."

The dagger had barely touched Gearfried’s hand before it exploded into golden fragments, vanishing from the field.

"Butterfly Dagger’s other effect: if this Equip Card is destroyed while equipped to a monster, it returns to the owner’s hand."

Kira waved the Equip Card, showing it had returned to his hand.

"Now, activate Butterfly Dagger – Elma again!"

Now the Wicked God understood.

This is an infinite loop!

Each time Elma is activated, Royal Magical Library gets a Spell Counter. Then, Gearfried’s effect destroys Elma, which returns to the hand, allowing the process to repeat infinitely. Royal Magical Library can remove three counters to draw a card, so this becomes unlimited card draw.

Infinite hand size means infinite possibilities. The Wicked Gods might see themselves as invincible, but only when resources are equal.

Even if a god’s resistances aren’t absolute, or even if they are, infinite resources can still find a way around them.

"Awesome, Kira! You set up an infinite loop so fast!" Jaden praised.

Even Yubel couldn’t help but comment: "Your friend’s dueling, erm..."

She wanted to criticize, but couldn’t think of anything positive to say. Considering Kira’s close relationship with Jaden—and the fact she couldn’t beat him herself—she decided to keep quiet.

"Trying to use an infinite loop against the gods?" the Wicked God sneered. "Nice idea, if you can pull it off.

Activate set card! Trap Card—’Treacherous Trap Hole’!"

A gigantic pit opened up on Kira’s field!

"Treacherous Trap Hole can only be activated if I have no Trap Cards in my graveyard," the Wicked God said. "Right now, there are none. Its effect goes through!

Destroy any two monsters on your opponent’s field!"

Kaiba said, "I see—destroying the key components to break the loop."

The Wicked God said, "The loop relies on those two monsters’ effects. They’re both gone.

Destroy ’Gearfried the Iron Knight’ and ’Royal Magical Library’!"

A terrifying suction erupted from the pit, visible as a white, translucent whirlwind—like an invisible giant hand dragging both Gearfried and Library into the void.

With two explosions, smoke and dust billowed from the pit. When it cleared, the monsters and the pit itself were gone.

"Ah, what a shame," Jaden sighed.

If the loop had gone through, Kira could have gone for a one-turn kill. Jaden had no doubt that, with his entire deck in hand, Kira wouldn’t give the Wicked God a chance to summon his remaining two gods.

Kaiba remarked, "Now things aren’t looking good for us."

Indeed. Not only did Kira fail to draw his whole deck, but his monsters were wiped out. Since Gearfried was destroyed while not equipped, Elma also went to the graveyard (since the condition for returning to hand wasn’t met).

Kira said, "Then I set two cards and end my turn."

Behind the Wicked God, the Eraser’s shadow commented, "He really is dangerous. First turn, lockdown; second turn, infinite loop..."

"Indeed."

The Avatar nodded.

"In terms of pure dueling, this guy’s not bad."

He said it to avoid boosting the opponent’s morale, but deep down, he was shocked by Kira’s skill.

Not just that—this duel was unprecedented. In thousands of years, the three Wicked Gods had never faced anyone quite like Kira.

Whether it was effect lock or infinite looping, a single misstep could spell doom.

Still, for now, the initiative remained with the Wicked Gods.

"My turn. Draw."

"Activate Spell Card ’Pot of Greed’. Draw two cards."

After drawing, the Wicked God looked up, humming darkly.

"Heh, to see more than one god in a single duel—lucky you. But to be safe, I’ll give you a special opportunity!"

Jaden and Kaiba both tensed.

He’s summoning a second god already?!

Kaiba frowned, "Can he summon a god every turn?"

Is this what it means to have the Wicked God’s true power on the field?

"Activate Spell Card ’Darklord Contact’."

The Wicked God revealed the same Spell as last turn, grinning.

"Last turn, ’Darklord Ixchel’ copied this card from the graveyard, and after copying, it was shuffled back into the deck.

So, I just happened to draw it again."

Talk about fate.

"Darklord Contact—Special Summon a Darklord monster from the graveyard in Defense Position.

Of course, the one I’m reviving is..."

He slapped a card onto his Duel Disk.

"Darklord Superbia!"

[Darklord Superbia | DEF 2400]

A dark angel with red wings. Kira thought the black mass at the center of those wings looked an awful lot like a toilet bowl.

"Superbia’s monster effect: when Special Summoned from the graveyard, revive another Darklord from the graveyard.

So, I revive..."

The Wicked God drew another card from the grave.

"Darklord Ixchel!"

[Darklord Ixchel | ATK 2500]

"Then, Ixchel’s effect—pay 1000 LP to copy the effect of ’Darklord Contact’ again from the graveyard!"

[Wicked God, LP 3000 → 2000]

"Special Summon ’Darklord Edeh Arae’ from the graveyard!"

[Darklord Edeh Arae | DEF 2000]

In an instant, the three Darklords returned—just like last turn.

"With this, the setup is complete!"
