Chapter 1547: Chapter 944: The Cradle of Chaos
When that twisted tree suddenly appeared in front of them, an invisible repulsive force erupted right before everyone’s eyes.
Even though the warriors reacted and tried to block it, all their movements were utterly useless; each of them was blown back a distance as if they’d taken a [Rejection] head-on, only coming to a halt when they crashed hard into the ground.
"What’s going on? And what the hell is that?"
One warrior rolled up from the ground in a flash, and when he saw the scene before him clearly, his brows suddenly arched and the corners of his mouth unconsciously pulled into a grin.
"Hoh, isn’t this just one big practice log."
"This is......" Temude also looked toward the exact center of the circular arena, and his brows furrowed at once.
The Izalith Witch had vanished.
In her place stood a sky-piercing giant tree formed from countless twisted, gigantic branches.
No, calling this thing a tree didn’t seem quite right; it looked more like the root system of that giant tree they’d seen outside—only roots would grow into something so warped and contorted.
Numerous roots knotted together in a mass occupying the very center of the circular arena, looking like some irregular waterskin, with many tendrils extending out from it, stretching toward every direction of the arena.
The most impossible-to-ignore part was that, at the very top of that tangle of roots, there was a section shaped like the upper body of a human—except its head was gone, replaced by countless tendrils sprouting from the neck.
Behind it, more tendrils combined into two gigantic hands wreathed in Chaos Flame; at first glance they looked like a pair of ferocious wings, with more Flame burning upon them, and within the center of each giant hand there even appeared the vague outline of a human figure.
It looked both like a human-shaped Flame silhouette with arms spread wide, and like an undying bird bursting out of the Flame.
Aside from that, there were two more clusters of Chaos Flame burning on either side of this twisted thing, shrouded and protected by dense, writhing tendrils, making them seem unable to move.
The warriors whose language classes hadn’t gone well had no way to describe the Monster before their eyes with the words they had, and in the end could only give it the name "plant tentacle freak."
But just as they were naming it that, Temude pulled out the Hunter’s Manual and took a glance; on the newest page, sure enough, the Monster’s name surfaced.
[Chaos Breeding Ground]
A truly unexpected name.
It was neither "Izalith Witch" nor any other title of the Izalith Witch, but a name people had never heard of.
"Where’s the Izalith Witch?" a warrior asked in puzzlement. Where had that huge Chaos Witch who’d just been hurling columns of Flame gone?
Temude snapped the manual shut with a "pa" and said gravely, "I’m afraid... this is the Izalith Witch and her children."
"The hell?" Someone let out a confused cry, while someone else showed a look of sudden realization.
According to the vision, "Izalith Witch" referred to a group; the one holding the King’s Soul was the old Witch, and the rest were her offspring—everyone was a Witch except for one boy.
And that lone boy had already turned into that bloated, massive [Continuously Festering Creature] in the Demon Relics; as for the remaining Witches, everyone except the Red and White Spider and Klarna stayed in the Izaris capital and turned into the "twisted forms" Klarna spoke of.
What was now displayed before them must surely be the family Klarna had mentioned.
It was just that Temude could not determine which Izaris Witch this "Chaos Breeding Ground" before them actually was—whether it was the old Witch, one of the old Witch’s offspring, or, to make an even bolder guess, this twisted Monster was all the Izaris Witches melded and shaken together into one!
"Thinking about that now doesn’t help," a warrior said, full of fighting spirit. "Anyway, let’s go. Chop this wood into firewood and burn it!"
"Why did it turn into this? Where’s the beautiful Witch I imagined..." Another warrior let out a wail, only to be collectively ignored by everyone.
"Mn, let’s go!" Temude also nodded.
No matter what form the enemy before them took, in the end they still had to carve a path with the Great Sword in their hands!
The Chaos Breeding Ground looked like a quintessential large-type Boss Monster. Against such an enemy, the first thing they thought of was relying on Combat Skills that could deal wide-area damage to hammer its entire body, then slowly identify its weak point and take it apart.
"What are those Flames burning on its sides?"
A warrior had spotted the Flames on both sides of the Chaos Breeding Ground, protected by twisted branches, and for a moment couldn’t quite figure out what those two things were for.
Those two clusters didn’t seem to be pure Flame; partially obscured by the crisscrossing branches, it looked like there was something dark within the Flames—apparently the core of each Flame.
"Judging by common sense..."
The warrior pondered for a moment, then clapped his hands and said, "Those two clusters of Flame should be this Monster’s main means of attack!"
Upon hearing this, the warriors all nodded in agreement.
"R-really?" Temude still felt something was off, a vague wrongness he couldn’t put into words.
But just then, the Chaos Breeding Ground moved; several giant hands woven from masses of tendrils came crashing down from above toward the group.
At the same time, the Flames on either side of the Chaos Breeding Ground erupted with even more intense heat; one Fireball after another, each with an auto-tracking function, spewed forth from them, surging after the adventurers in the wake of the tendrils.
