Chapter 1504: Chapter 922: This Is the Tomb King Nite (2)

Why does it feel like there’s more danger than safety?

"I’m suddenly really worried about him."

Maru bent over and crawled to the gap revealed by the fallen coffin, looking down at the cliff shrouded in darkness below.

"I can’t see how high it is."

"This time the boss is really in trouble, meow."

Meanwhile, Leon was experiencing a strange sensation of weightlessness, his whole body floating as the coffin plummeted rapidly.

Even though Drew stuffed him with quite a few magic shields, and even temporarily filled some rags snatched from the skeleton monster for cushioning, the longer the fall lasted, the more uncertain he felt.

The descent continued to extend, with cold sweat breaking out on Leon’s forehead. At this rate, even if the coffin lands, would he be shaken to death by the impact?

Just as he began to worry, the previously accelerating coffin suddenly braked sharply, and his sense of weightlessness disappeared instantly.

Inside the coffin, sounds of him bumping around echoed.

"Thud!"

The heavy coffin lid automatically opened, crashing down and kicking up a cloud of dust, and Leon, dizzy, fell on top of it. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Ugh, this feeling... ugh..."

His retching caused the emitted spiritual power levels to rise, clearly showing this was not a pleasant experience.

After feeling a bit better, Leon opened the communication device before he could clearly see his surroundings and said to the others: "I’ve landed, safely... kind of."

"As long as we know you’re alive, we’ve just experienced another wave of death miasma. Are you okay down there?"

"I just got out of the coffin, didn’t feel any miasma, it’s still relatively safe for now... cough... it’s just that the dust is really thick down here."

Leon waved away the dust trying to enter his nose as he talked to Dal and looked around his surroundings.

What appeared before him was a typical cave scene.

Here, various lengths and sizes of pillar-shaped rock formations broke up the underground space, allowing him to only see a small area around him without capturing the vastness of the entire cave.

An unknown light source painted the underground space in hues of black and purple, lending it an air of mystery far more appealing than a pitch-black environment.

However, being in this place made Leon instinctively feel uneasy, unable to calm his emotions no matter what.

As though his body was instinctively resisting staying here.

"What’s down there, is it dangerous, boss?" Maru took over the communication device.

"So far I haven’t seen anything dangerous, it’s full of rocks here in the underground space, I’m moving ahead now, but my instincts tell me there’s nothing safe ahead."

"Be careful then, we can’t summon the coffin back; we should have gone down with you."

"No worries, I’m fine on my own here."

Leon felt his trembling arm, thinking to himself:

I should have brought a happiness egg to take a bite of.

Just as he was about to turn around the many pillars of rock, he suddenly heard a faint "click" sound, characteristic of the skeleton monster! The owner of this sound would soon appear before him!

A miniature little skull suddenly appeared in front of Leon.

"..."

Leon gazed at the small skull no bigger than his head, looking somewhat adorable and fell into thought.

"Shorter than Drew by half, no, at least by double."

The mini skull posed no threat at all; it seemed startled upon seeing Leon and turned to flee.

"Hey, wait a minute."

Leon of course gave chase, having quite an odd thought crossing his mind upon seeing the small skull.

Were the giant skulls outside all grown from these small ones?

No, no, undead creatures don’t grow... right?

He followed the small skull leisurely, trailing behind through several curves, never quite managing to catch it completely, curious to see where it might lead him.

Then suddenly, his steps seemed to cross some distance, bringing an even thicker sense of danger, with a strong whiff of authentic death miasma!

Leon instinctively wanted to find cover, but soon realized that real death miasma hadn’t appeared.

He was merely nearing something deeply connected to the miasma.

The curve ahead led to a more spacious area, the small skull also ran out from there, and Leon felt the source of pressure from there too.

"Gollum..."

He swallowed, braced himself, and walked toward the rocks ahead.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped past the heavy rock obstructions to see what lay ahead.

It was, an exceptionally spacious underground space.

"Clatter, clatter, clatter—"

What he saw were countless small skulls, their puppy-like figures humorously moved away from the sudden appearance of Leon, congregating toward a single place.

Upon reaching their destination, the lively small skulls suddenly halted their lighthearted movements and prostrated on the ground in the same direction.

The posture was unmistakably one of worship.

Leon’s gaze locked onto the object of their worship and couldn’t look away.

"Boss, how’s it going over there, no issues right?" Maru’s voice came from the communication device, but he seemed not to hear, fixated on the presence ahead.

Vast numbers of small skulls were worshipping a colossal sarcophagus.

The sarcophagus, deeply embedded in the rock wall, its accumulated dust spoke of its ancientness, symbolizing....

The occupant within hadn’t moved in ages.

"Thud!"

As his eyes met the sarcophagus, Leon’s heart skipped a beat, his face wore a "are you kidding me" expression.

Lying inside was a figure all adventurers would recognize.

If a giant’s skeleton were the body, enveloped in endless skulls, that shadow now rested quietly within the sarcophagus.

[Tomb King Nite]

It’s Tomb King Nite!

Even without moving from the sarcophagus, Nite’s death aura discouraged Leon from approaching.

Leaving aside the terror his death aura inspired, the dense death miasma surrounding Tomb King Nite frightened any living creature from approaching!

And what if upon getting closer, he suddenly stood up, then what?

Facing a King’s Soul holder alone in combat seemed foolhardy, and Leon thought if he did attempt such, he should surely earn the title of Hero.

His breathing grew heavy, fear kept him from acting haphazardly.

Tomb King Nite: just lying in the coffin.

Adventurer: quite an ability!

But given enough time, Leon noticed something amiss.

He cautiously took a few steps forward, watching for any reaction, then discovered...

Hey, why aren’t you moving?

Tomb King Nite emanated intense pressure, stifling breathing, yet remained inactive.

As if deciding to sleep until the world’s end.

"What’s going on here...."

The communication device once again transmitted others’ inquiries, evidently his earlier lack of response worried them.

But now Leon still couldn’t respond, pondering how to explain the unexplainable events here? Vague answers wouldn’t help anyone understand.

"Huh?"

Just then, the death miasma enshrouding the Tomb King dispersed slightly on its own.

Revealing a dust-laden altar.
