Chapter 150: Chapter 149 : Softness
The morning sun rose peacefully over the countryside, painting the sky in soft pinks and golds. Haruto left home early, the dirt path still cool and dewy under his shoes. He walked with steady steps, the weight of the previous night’s conversation with Yor still lingering in his mind. He didn’t know what to say to her yet, but he knew one thing for sure — he had to start taking his life seriously.
The school gate was quiet when he arrived. The courtyard was still empty, the old wooden buildings bathed in early sunlight. Haruto changed into his indoor shoes without a word, his footsteps echoing softly in the hallway.
The day passed in a strange kind of numbness. Classes were normal. Teachers called on him. He answered politely, his mind somewhere else. He didn’t see Reina anywhere. No one mentioned her. For a few hours, he could almost pretend it had never happened.
But inside, the fear remained. The memory of Selena’s cold smile, the way she had said she was "following him for three years," the knife resting on his thigh — it all haunted him.
Lunchtime came. Haruto ate quietly in the rooftop, his heart suddenly jumping when his phone vibrated on the desk.
He looked down.
Miyu: Hello Haruto
He answered immediately.
"Hello Miyu."
There was a small pause on the other end, then her voice — soft, shy, and full of longing.
"Hello Haruto... I’m back to the countryside. I came home today."
She took a shaky breath.

"How many days I don’t see you... I want to see you so badly. Come to my home after school. Please."
Haruto felt a strange mix of warmth and guilt rise in his chest.
"Okay, Miyu," he said gently. "I’ll come after my part-time job is over. I’ll come in the evening."
"Promise?" she whispered, her voice trembling with happiness.
"I promise."
The call ended. Haruto stared at his phone for a long moment, the screen still glowing with her name. His chest felt tight. Miyu was waiting for him. Yor was waiting for him. The twins were still out there somewhere. The weight of everything pressed down on him again.
He forced a small smile as he stood up, but inside, his mind was already racing.
But the real dangers — the twins, the stalking, the truth he still didn’t fully understand — were only beginning.
The final bell rang through the school corridors at exactly 3:45 PM. Students poured out of classrooms with the usual noise — laughter, conversations, the sound of shoes on the polished floor. Haruto walked out in silence, his bag slung over one shoulder. In his mind, the entire day had felt off. He kept glancing over his shoulder, half-expecting to see Reina or Selena watching him from the shadows. Nothing happened. No one approached him. No one looked at him strangely. But the unease remained — a quiet, heavy feeling that settled in his stomach like cold stone.
He didn’t go straight home. Instead, he took the familiar route to the small convenience store near the school gate.
The store was quiet when he arrived. The afternoon light was already turning golden, and the owner was busy arranging the new drink shipment. Haruto changed into his store uniform without saying much, the familiar routine helping him feel a little steadier.
The rest of the shift passed in a blur of customers and quiet work. He stocked shelves, rang up drinks, and occasionally wiped the counter. The owner kept glancing at him curiously, but Haruto didn’t explain. He simply worked.
When the store finally closed at exactly 7:30 PM, the sky outside was painted in deep oranges and purples. The sun had set hours ago, leaving only the first few bright stars visible in the fading twilight. The air was cool, carrying the scent of night dew and distant wood smoke.
Haruto locked the store and stepped outside. The owner gave him a tired but kind smile.
"Take care, Haruto. See you tomorrow."
Haruto nodded and started walking toward the small residential area where Miyu lived. The path was quiet, lined with old wooden houses and the soft glow of lanterns inside some windows. The evening sky was dark blue, scattered with stars. The river was visible far to his left, its water reflecting the moonlight like a silver ribbon.
He had bought snacks for her on the way — her favorite strawberry milk, soft mochi, and a small pack of her favorite cookies. The plastic bag swung gently in his hand as he walked.
His mind was still uneasy. He kept replaying the day’s events — the abandoned Love Hotel, the twins, the knife, the fear. He hadn’t told anyone the full truth. Not Yor. Not Ayaka. Not even Grandfather.
He just wanted to reach Miyu’s house and hold her close. He wanted to feel safe for a few hours.
The streetlights began to turn on one by one, casting warm yellow pools of light on the pavement. Haruto kept walking, the cool evening air brushing against his face, the stars becoming clearer above him.
He was almost at Miyu’s home.
The narrow street was bathed in the soft glow of streetlights as Haruto approached Miyu’s house. The wooden gate was slightly ajar, and the faint sound of crickets filled the quiet night. He stood at the door for a moment, the plastic bag of snacks in his hand, his heart beating a little faster than usual.
He knocked softly.
The door slid open.
Miyu’s mother — a gentle woman in her late forties with kind eyes and a warm smile — looked at him with open surprise.

"Haruto-kun? It’s been a long time..." she said, her voice soft and welcoming. "How are you? Come inside. You look tired from your day."
Haruto gave a small, respectful bow and stepped inside. The house smelled of home-cooked dinner and the faint floral scent that always lingered here.
"I’m fine," he replied gently. "What about you? I haven’t seen you in a long time."
Miyu’s mother smiled kindly.
"I’m doing okay. Just tired from housework. You’re all grown up now. Come in, come in."
Haruto followed her into the genkan. She took the plastic bag of snacks from him without hesitation.
"These are for Miyu?" she asked with a gentle laugh.
Haruto nodded.
Miyu appeared at the top of the stairs, her hair slightly loose, wearing a soft light blue top and pants. She looked beautiful in the warm light of the hallway. Her eyes lit up the moment she saw him.
"Haruto..." she whispered, her voice shy but full of happiness. "You came..."
She came down the stairs quickly, her steps light. The moment she reached the bottom, she threw her arms around him in a tight hug. Her body was warm, soft, and familiar. Haruto hugged her back, feeling the comfort of her presence.
Miyu’s mother smiled warmly as she watched them.
"You two were always close," she said gently.
Haruto gave the snack bag back to miyu and followed Miyu upstairs.
They went into her small, neat room. The bed was made, a few stuffed animals sat on the shelf, and the window was open slightly, letting in the cool night breeze. The room felt familiar and safe — the same room where they had shared many quiet moments before.
Haruto sat on the edge of the bed while Miyu sat beside him. She took the snack bag from him and opened it with soft hands.
"You remembered my favorites," she said shyly, smiling at him. "Strawberry milk and mochi... I love them so much."
Haruto smiled back, feeling a little of the tension leave his chest.
They talked quietly for a while — about school, about her mother’s health, about the small things they had missed during his absence. The room felt warm and intimate. The moonlight came through the window, painting soft silver patterns on the walls. Miyu’s voice was gentle, and she kept stealing glances at him as if making sure he was really there.
Haruto felt strangely relaxed for the first time all day. Being here with Miyu felt like a small pocket of safety in a world that had suddenly become very dark.
He didn’t tell her about Reina. He didn’t tell her about the twins. He didn’t tell her about the fear.
He just sat there, listening to her soft voice, holding her hand, and letting the night feel a little lighter.
The small room was bathed in soft moonlight that came through the slightly open window. The air felt warm and intimate, carrying the faint scent of Miyu’s shampoo and the faint floral note of her body.
She looked at him for a long moment, her eyes soft and full of quiet longing. Without saying a single word, Miyu slowly leaned in toward him. Her eyes closed. Her breathing became slow and gentle.
Haruto felt his heart tighten. He didn’t hesitate. He closed his eyes as well and leaned in as well.

Their lips met.
It was soft. Tentative. Warm.
The kiss began as nothing more than a gentle touch — two soft lips brushing together in the quiet room. Miyu’s lips were incredibly soft, slightly parted, and trembling just a little. Haruto’s hand moved instinctively to the small of her back, pulling her closer.
Miyu made the first real move. She kissed him again, deeper this time, her lips pressing more firmly. Her hand slid up Haruto’s chest and wrapped around the back of his neck, fingers threading gently into his hair. She pulled him closer, her body leaning in until her breasts pressed softly against his chest.
Haruto responded immediately. His arm tightened around her waist, pulling her fully into his embrace. He kissed her back with equal tenderness, his tongue brushing lightly against her lips before sliding in to meet hers. The kiss grew warmer, wetter, more intimate. Their lips moved together slowly and sensually — soft sucking, gentle exploration, the faint sound of wet lips meeting each other filling the quiet room.
Miyu moaned softly into his mouth, a tiny, contented sound that vibrated against his lips. Her fingers tightened in his hair, holding him close. Haruto’s other hand rested on her waist, feeling the warmth of her body through her clothes, pulling her even closer until there was almost no space between them.
They kissed like this for a long time — slow, deep, and full of quiet emotion. No rush. No words. Only the soft press of lips, the gentle slide of tongues, and the faint sound of their breathing. Miyu’s hand stayed wrapped around the back of his neck, her body leaning into his as if she never wanted to pull away.
Haruto felt her heartbeat against his chest, steady and warm. He kissed her back with the same care, his tongue tracing hers, tasting the faint sweetness of her breath. The moonlight came through the window, painting soft silver patterns on the walls, but neither of them noticed. They were lost in the moment — two hearts beating together, lips moving together, the quiet room feeling like the safest place in the world.
When they finally pulled back, their lips were still brushing lightly, connected by a thin string of saliva that stretched and broke. Miyu’s eyes remained closed for a second longer, her face flushed and peaceful. Haruto rested his forehead against hers, breathing the same air.
Neither of them spoke. They didn’t need to.
The kiss had been soft. Tender. Full of everything they both felt but couldn’t yet say out loud.
And for a few precious moments, the world outside — the fear, the weight of the day — felt very far away.
