Chapter 467: Chapter 467: Adina 20
Tan You watched as Schubert, Sanders, and the others gathered the carriages, hitched the horses, and set off toward Kandapes with a CLOP-CLOP of hooves. Along the way, they naturally ran into the guards who had been separated the previous night. After gathering and sharing what they had seen and heard, they all headed for Kandapes together.
Of course, Schubert and the others wouldn’t leak any information about Tan You. By now, their group of guards had secretly split into two factions. One was naturally on Tan You’s side, while the other was the guard detachment from the Edmonds family.
As the group disappeared into the distance, Tan You pulled a roll of parchment from her ring. The parchment was blank. Tan You hovered her right hand over it, infusing her fingertips with Magic Power, and soon a winding line appeared on the surface.
Tan You took a tentative step forward. The line even wiggled, as if to tell her she was going the wrong way. Tan You couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, once again remarking with practiced awe, ’As expected of a world of Magic. It really is amazing.’
The Beauty System flew out as well. It was now serving as Tan You’s aerial telescope, helping her avoid any potential dangers along the way.
With the invisibility cloak, the Beauty System’s assistance, and Sean’s miasma-repelling potion, Tan You’s journey had been relatively smooth. Aside from the rugged path causing her to stumble and fall a few times, the rest of her travels were uneventful.
"Why do you think Sean built his Mage Tower right in the center?" Tan You asked, catching her breath. She had been walking through the Mist Forest for nearly five days and had only covered a third of the distance.
The Beauty System glanced at Tan You’s short legs. "Host, you’re too short, and your physical fitness is poor."
Tan You took a sip of water. "Maybe so. A child—oh, a sickly child at that—can only walk so fast..."
Just as she was speaking, Tan You suddenly heard several furious roars. She wasn’t surprised in the slightest; she simply pulled her invisibility cloak tighter around herself. She had encountered far too many Magic Beasts on this journey.
Thanks to the invisibility cloak, none of the Magic Beasts had noticed her. But Tan You wasn’t foolish enough to risk her life by getting close to them. You only get one life, and she cherished hers.
Tan You had stewed over her last miscalculation for a long time. She certainly wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
The Beauty System had already projected the scene in front of Tan You. The combatants were two magic wolves and an iron-armored beast. The iron-armored beast was not only covered in a hard shell, but its back was also lined with sharp, long spikes.
As for the two magic wolves, one was clearly pregnant and couldn’t contribute much to the fight.
Tan You watched the scene, taking a thoughtful bite of her bread. ’That magic wolf is in for it.’
She didn’t understand combat, but she could tell the male magic wolf was losing. The pregnant female wolf could only lie to the side, willing but unable to help.
Watching this, Tan You suddenly lost her appetite for the bread in her hand.
’Do you think it would be willing to give me a ride? I’m just worried that if I save its life, it’ll repay kindness with malice and send me to an early grave.’
This was Tan You’s concern. You only get one life; if you don’t cherish it yourself, who will?
That being said, seeing the magic wolf and the iron-armored beast fight until both were grievously wounded, Tan You couldn’t bear to watch. ’Maybe it’s because they really look so much like dogs?’ Tan You reasoned with herself.
With that thought in mind, Tan You headed toward the three Magic Beasts. Fortunately, the male magic wolf was still breathing, though its life was hanging by a thread. It looked as if it were about to return to the embrace of the beast god.
The pregnant female wolf lay beside the male, licking the wounds on his abdomen, but it was all in vain.
Tan You stopped a good distance from the battle site. She didn’t remove her invisibility cloak; that way, even if the wolves wanted to find her, they couldn’t. From this distance, Tan You was confident she could escape if needed.
Tan You looked at the bloodstains beneath the female wolf, then at the male, whose life hung in the balance. In the end, she couldn’t bring herself to leave them. After a moment of thought, two skeleton soldiers burst from the ground.
Tan You took the top-tier healing potion from the Karina family out of her ring and had one of the skeleton soldiers pour it down the severely injured magic wolf’s throat.
The female wolf tried to stop the skeleton soldier, but she was also badly injured and was easily pushed aside by the other one. While she was at it, Tan You had a high-grade healing potion administered to the female wolf as well.
Seeing how large the female wolf’s belly was, Tan You figured nothing good would come of it if she wasn’t treated.
The effect of the top-tier healing potion was immediate. The moment it was poured down the male magic wolf’s throat, he opened his eyes. The wound on his abdomen healed rapidly, and warmth gradually returned to his once-cold body.
After being forced to take the healing potion, the female wolf’s agitated state gradually calmed. Seeing her mate’s wound stop bleeding, she scrambled to her feet, bypassed the skeleton soldier, and rushed straight to the male.
The two were now acting affectionately, one licking the other, the other swatting with its tail. Where was the grief and sorrow from their near-death separation just moments ago?
Seeing this, Tan You recalled her skeleton soldiers. As they walked over, she couldn’t help but smack her forehead. ’How could I be so stupid? I’m a slow walker, but I can summon Undead to carry me!’
At this thought, Tan You began to chant an incantation. Soon, the skeleton of an Undead three-headed hellhound appeared before her. A ball of fire burned within each of its three skulls. After being summoned by Tan You, it glanced around before walking toward her with clear purpose.
Upon reaching Tan You, it practically loomed over her. Perhaps looking down at her was too tiring, as it then lay down in front of her.
Tan You eyed its bony frame. "You think this will be hard on my butt?"
Despite her words, she showed no hesitation. After draping a thick cushion over the hellhound’s back, Tan You climbed on.
The three-headed hellhound wagged its tail with a CLACKING sound, then stood up and set off in the direction Tan You indicated. After giving the two potions, Tan You didn’t look back at the two magic wolves. With her small frame, what would she do if they suddenly turned hostile?
Therefore, Tan You paid the two magic wolves no more mind and simply focused on her journey. With the three-headed hellhound, her travel speed increased significantly.
Eventually, Tan You resorted to lying flat on the hellhound’s back. Who could blame her, with the creature’s sturdy build? If she sat upright on its back, she’d just be constantly slapped in the face by tree branches.
As for the two magic wolves, once they had recovered their strength, the one that had been grievously injured went over and killed the barely-breathing iron-armored beast. Then, with great skill, it extracted the iron-armored beast’s Magic Beast core.
