Chapter 1457: We Are Now Students
I still hung onto that one admission slip in case any of my girls needed it but it turned out to be unnecessary in the end since everyone managed to find an admission slip... Or they managed to beat a person wearing the white robes of a student...
I’m just glad it wasn’t Ira fighting with Odeta... Because I think everyone would be knocked out if they actually fought seriously.
Cecilia appeared again after the test was over, the space shattering and dropping us back where we were before the dome was created.
With the test concluded and it was easy to see who had passed and who did not.
The ones who did not manage to get an admission slip were told to go back to the previous building while those who passed were gathered directly in front of the bridge.
No doubt, the ones who did not pass would most likely be doing a second round of testing in that building to determine if they really would be kicked out of here.
Well... That’s none of my business anyway since my girls and I would all be crossing the bridge now.
The director stood on top of her paper platform and looked down at us from above.
"Students. Congratulations on passing this initial test."
She clapped her hands together and everyone who had passed had their black armbands changed into white ones.
The students around me gasped and looked down at their armbands in wonder before turning to look at the ’failures’ who were being escorted away, all of their armbands remaining black in colour.
If there were any other ’failures’ who were thinking they could sneak in amongst us somehow, they would be exposed by their armband at this point.
Cecilia continued, "As of now, all of you are accepted as students of Aerialla Academy! Once you cross this bridge, you will officially be considered as such! If anyone has any reservations about becoming a student, this is your last chance to turn back! For once you enter here, you won’t be allowed to leave until you at least finish your first year of school. If you leave before that, you would be considered a dropout."
Oh, I didn’t know that...
I mean.. I knew this was going to be something like a boarding school and we would be living on the island while we studied here... But I didn’t know you couldn’t even leave if you wanted to.
Then again, I guess it’s not practical for someone to just leave and go home for a few days before returning here since the only way to get here was through the airships.
There were a few students who also looked a little alarmed by the news but no one had turned away to leave.
Cecilia let a moment pass to make sure there was no one who wished to leave before she gestured towards the bridge, "If there are no regrets, then allow me to welcome all of you to Aerialla Academy."
Someone took the first step and everyone started moving towards the bridge.
At first, everyone was simply walking until another person broke into a run, prompting everyone to start running across the bridge.
I could understand why they were so excited since this was Aerialla Academy we’re talking about here. The fact that you could enter this school as a student would be enough to guarantee you a pretty good life as long as you know how to use that fact.
Many places would hire you on the basis that you were a student of Aerialla Academy even if you were a drop out so for them to step past this bridge... They were basically stepping towards the guarantee of a better life ahead of them.
Well... My girls and I just walked slowly at the back though, since it really doesn’t change our lives much here to be honest. I’m really here because I’m just interested in learning more about magic and skills and this was the place to do it.
And... My girls are just following me because I’m here I guess.
I hugged my egg close to me, ignoring the stares from the other students while we strolled over the bridge.
The bridge itself was massive as it spanned between the space of the two floating islands and was built as an arch bridge that was curved upwards near the centre.
At first, I thought the next island was just a short hop away since it looked so close to us with how it loomed over the island we were on. But I realised that it only looked close because of how big the island was as compared to our current island and there was a gap in between the two big enough for several dragons to fly through side by side without any problems.
Heck, I don’t even think a Magridar could jump this gap either.
Which... I guess... Was the reason why this bridge was so huge in size. This thing was so wide that an entire Magridar could lay down on it sideways and still have space to spare so Magridars could also cross this bridge as well. Now I’m wondering how they would get up here though? Is there a giant airship meant specifically for them?
And... Ironically... Because of its huge size and how it was easy to underestimate just how far the distance was between the two islands, some of the students who had ran ahead slowed down as they got tired, panting out in exhaustion even before they reached the halfway point of the bridge.
Cecilia still floated above us on top of her piles of paper, casually scribbling on them and ignoring whatever was happening below her.
I’m guessing this was already a sight that she was used to seeing which was why she didn’t seem surprised by it.
The entire walk across the bridge took almost half an hour just to cross the entire thing where we were all walking at a brisk pace without stopping.
There were a few students who had to take breaks because they were apparently quite out of shape and a thirty minute walk was too much for them to handle.
Then again... I guess I can cut them some slack since we did just finish a test where they had to fight for their lives to get their admission slips with barely any time to rest after that.
As we got close to the other side of the bridge, I realised there were several people waiting for us, all of them wearing the robes of Aerialla Academy but in different colours.
There was azure, forest green, scarlet, sky blue and black mixed amongst them.
I know from my earlier conversation with Cecilia that the last two were students of the school with sky blue denoting them as second years and the black robes marking them as sixth year students.
I’m guessing they might be here to help us do an orientation for the school or they might just be here to see who were the new batch of students that were joining them this year.
A few of the people in forest green robes stepped forward and started ushering most of the students aside.
It took me a moment to realise that they were wearing the same coloured robes as Cecilia except hers had the gold trim which meant that she was their superior.
As my group approached them, they looked at our armbands and immediately separated Demare, Odeta and myself from the group, letting the rest of my girls join the others with the white armbands.
They then further separated me from Odeta and Delmare, getting my Siren and Amrap lover to head down another way while I was kept there with them.
Incidentally, I drew attention even from the people there because of the egg I was holding in my arms.
Some of them were even pointing at me and whispering something, though their voices were too soft for me to hear exactly what they were saying.
Cecilia stayed above the air for a moment more as several pieces of paper floated up to her, all of them quite literally appearing out of thin air before she let them slide into her hand.
She took a moment to read their contents before she descended to the ground, stopping right in front of me and stepping off her paper platform.
"Miss Aster. If you would follow me please," She nodded politely at me, still holding on to a rather thick stack of paper in her hands which were the same pieces that had appeared and floated to her while she was in the air.
The surrounding people seemed to get even more excited at the sight for some reason but I didn’t have a chance to find out why as I followed after the director.
She brought me over to the side and through a doorway which led to a completely empty and featureless room.
I was wondering why there was even a room like this when Cecilia stepped in and closed the door behind me before filling the room with her paper to cover the walls.
The next thing I knew, the walls disappeared and I was standing in a completely black space with several cloaked figures all staring at me and forming a semicircle in front of me.
Err... This isn’t hell where I am now being judged for my sins or something, right?
Or worse... This isn’t a court trial and they’re a jury, right?
