Chapter 183: The Elf’s Promise
"And then I came here with my people, my portal having opened a path to your World, my Divine~" Ava finished, hugging me closer to her chest while she stroked my head with her hand.
Shit... Ok... I thought I was at least ready for her story after I sat through Kris’s but Avatasia’s history feels even heavier than his to deal with...
Not only did she lose her world, she even lost her closest friend who she had to kill with her own two hands...
"What happened after that?"
"Fufufu~ I think that is for another time, my Divine~ We have spent long enough here, have we not?"
I looked up at her and frowned, "You’re really going to just leave me hanging like this?"
"My, my~ It feels a little unbalanced right now, my Divine~ You know so much about me but I do not know anything about you~"
I raised an eyebrow, "Didn’t you tell me that day that you know a lot about me? Why are you suddenly saying you don’t know anything now?"
"Mmmm~ But my knowledge of you comes from this clairvoyance power and not because you shared your history with me~ That is different~"
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes, "You’re just using that as an excuse to get out of telling me."
"Fufufu~ Perhaps~ But an elf like me still needs to keep some secrets for herself, don’t I?"
Well... I’m honestly just happy to see that she was back to her usual self again.
I really could not get used to her looking so broken earlier...
As though reading my mind, she pulled me in until my head was literally smushed between her bosoms with both of her globes squeezing down on the sides of my head.
"I am not as strong of a person as you think I am, my Divine... I admit that you might have picked up quite a broken mess here. If you find that to be unacceptable, I understand if you wish to give up on me."
Ok, I take that back, she has not returned to normal yet... At least she wasn’t a crying mess I guess?
I had to pry myself away to free myself from her so that I could turn around to face her, although with her height, it was more like I was facing her boobs.
I gave her a serious look, "Do you take me for that kind of person, Ava?"
She gave me a sad smile, "Of course not, my Divine. I am merely just offering you another way out."
"Well I don’t need it. Unfortunately, you are stuck with me. I’m the type of person who likes to hoard stuff you know? So I’m definitely going to be hoarding you guys to myself."
Her eyes brightened slightly, "Ara? It seems like I have chosen to serve a rather greedy God, have I not?"
"Unfortunately for you, yes."
"Ara, ara~ That does seem unfortunate for me, doesn’t it? I suppose I will just need to get used to it~ But there is just one problem, my Divine~"
I raised an eyebrow, "What is the problem?"
She suddenly wrapped her arms around me and pulled me up so that I was face to face with her.
"I am someone who would dedicate my life to something that I have taken an interest in. And I am very interested in you, my Divine."
I was then pulled in the rest of the way so that our lips touched in a deep kiss.
She did not hold back as her tongue immediately pushed past my lips to seek out mine, wrapping it in a sloppy wet kiss.
She then released me with a wet ’pop’ and I thought she wanted to go another round before she let out a contented sigh.
"My Divine... I shall remain by your side for as long as you wish me to. But please... Do not risk yourself unnecessarily..."
I raised a finger, "To be fair, I did not expect something like that to happen earlier."
She hummed, clearly not convinced but having nothing to prove otherwise anyway.
Still, I assured her that I will be careful. After all, there were a lot of people depending on me right now.
Imagine getting the Bunarfs to build all these facilities and for Olivia to beat everything into shape to help me establish a home base... Only for me to just die and render all their efforts useless.
Yeah... That would be beyond embarrassing...
Not only that, I would be leaving my family behind as well and that would definitely suck.
With that in mind, we ended our little rendezvous in my illusory... Oh whoops, that’s not right anymore... We ended our rendezvous in my soul space and I found myself waking up in my meditation room once again.
The first thing I noticed is that the formation that I have placed in the room seemed to have been disturbed.
Not that someone had moved it but more like they had been pushed to their limits and were on the verge of breaking apart.
Well... I guess that’s what happens when all of my life energy in my body gets released all at once and the formation has to keep all of it contained within this room.
Now that I know I could potentially make myself stronger by expelling my life energy and absorbing them back into my body again... I should probably prepare myself to deal with that.
Which means I would need to change the formation of this meditation room a little so that it can contain the vast amounts of life energy I would expel when I do that.
After all... This formation was only meant to gather more life energy from outside the tower and contain them here, not prevent a massive amount of life energy suddenly exploding out from within the formation from escaping.
That’s why I could feel that I’ve still lost quite a bit of power but I believe I should regain most if not all of the power I lost tomorrow after I fix the formation and let the energy gather here on its own for me to absorb again.
As I was redoing the formation, what happened to me was replayed in my mind again.
For some reason... After Ava did something, the image of a purple palace appeared in my head and I tried to change the building to transform itself into that purple palace.
But then some woman appeared in that image that was in my head and did something that almost killed me.
Who was that woman? Was she related to the god I was supposed to be?
Or... Was she the actual god herself?
Either way... Why did she do what she did? Was she doing that to show me a way that I could grow stronger or was that actually an attempt at my life?
Hmm... Should I... Try to do that again?
I actually seriously considered if I should just hop back into my soul space and try to create the purple palace again just to see if the woman would appear once again.
But I decided that having one close encounter with death was enough for one day so I’ll probably try that again another day... Or after I figured out what was going on with that.
I completed the new formation and activated it, feeling the energy in the room change and revert back to how it was before the formation broke.
I took the chance to absorb some of the energy that was just newly gathered though I chose not to slip into the soul space this time.
It still wasn’t enough to replenish all the energy I had lost but it was clearly more than the usual amount of life energy it would gather in that short span of time, which meant that my life energy that I lost should still be close by so it should just be a matter of time for me to get back all the energy I lost.
I stretched my arms over my head as I let out a yawn, feeling a little tired mentally from what I had to experience today.
Ava’s past was definitely heavy and something I didn’t expect to hear today but I have a feeling that she was using me as a replacement to get over the friend that she lost. Perhaps even as some kind of projection to atone for how she had rejected her advances before her death.
At least... I believe she was doing so before but I’m not too sure if it was still the case now.
She’s definitely really different from the supposed Eternal Ice Sage since she’s no longer the emotionless elf that was obsessed with magic but rather, the ero elf who is arguably obsessed with me.
I’m only about half sure that this is just her way of coping but I guess I should just do my best to help her through it while she’s under my care...
Hmm... I wonder if my Guardians need therapists?
