Chapter 293: Chapter 177: Robbery
As evening fell, the afterglow of the setting sun washed over the dark thickets, creating waves of shimmering light.
On the outskirts of the Dracul Mountain Range, two figures darted across the face of a cliff, stepping on its rocky ledges. Had anyone been looking down from the sky, they would have witnessed a bizarre scene.
The Dragon Descendants living around the mountain range scattered before the pair, like a school of fish fleeing a shark.
After more than ten minutes of this, the two came to a halt together at the edge of a low cliff.
Isabella looked at Master Jack in his White Mask. "You can keep up with my speed. No wonder you evaded the search at the manor last night. You really are a Law Enforcer, aren’t you? A Demon Hunter or a Knight?"
’Sorry, I’m just a passing bank employee.’
"I’ve just always liked to stay in shape," Baron said, neither confirming nor denying her accusation.
Isabella narrowed her eyes but said nothing, instead crossing her arms and gazing down. "I really have no idea how many people will be furious with me after this is done."
"Walk your own path and let them talk," "Master Jack" said with a faint smile. "Besides, with these masks on, no one will recognize us."
Isabella touched the Silver Mask on her face, feeling it was probably more for psychological comfort than anything else.
After all, her purple hair, cascading over her shoulders and bound with gold and silver rings, was instantly recognizable.
Baron saw through Isabella’s concerns. "The young lady of the Beowulf Family, a robber? Who would believe it?"
"No," Baron said, as if remembering something, then corrected himself. "It should be: who would *dare* claim the young lady of the Beowulf Family is a robber?"
Having been through so much, Baron the Escape King had long since summed up the people of the Inner Side.
’They’re all about picking on the weak and fawning over the strong.’
...
According to a pact between the Beowulf Family and the Dragon Family, the Dracul Mountain Range was divided into three distinct zones, starting from the valley entrance.
The Outer Ring, inhabited by the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Generation Species;
The Middle Ring, dominated by the Fifth and Sixth Generation Species;
And the Core Ring, home to the Third and Fourth Generation Species, which Dragon Guides also suspected of housing pureblood subspecies. Dragon Spear Plaza typically appeared within this Core Ring.
But now that a pureblood subspecies had truly appeared in the Core Ring, a panic had swept through the Dragon Descendants of the mountain range. Many of the Fifth and Sixth Generation Species from the Middle Ring had since migrated to the outer regions.
The Thunder Wolf Dragon Group was a prime example—they were situated right at the border between the valley and the Outer Ring.
The Outer Ring had now become an arena for hunters and prey as the Trial Takers steadily filtered in. Everyone had a clear goal: hunt the Dragon Descendants and strip them of their Reverse Scales.
Due to the high altitude, leaves glistening with misty dew trembled in the wind of a passing blur. For an instant, spinning dewdrops reflected the figures of the pursuer and the pursued.
Following the analysis of their respective Dragon Guides, the siblings Pound and Windsor were working in concert to hunt a Sixth Generation Dragon Descendant that had fled from the Middle Ring: a Wooden Beard Dragon Beast.
The Wooden Beard Dragon Beast stood over ten feet tall. Two long whiskers sprouted from its draconic beak, and its high, ridged back was covered in grayish-blue scales. Where there were no scales, it was covered in long fur of the same color.
It had sharp eyes, sharp claws, and a terrifying visage. With every breath, its deeply recessed nostrils exhaled puffs of white, steam-like mist.
But the creature was already wounded. Several Ice Spikes protruded from its back—the result of Pound using Magic to wear it down.
Soon, through the use of one slowing Magic Card after another, Pound and Windsor used their Magic to corner the Wooden Beard Dragon Beast against a cliff wall.
Seeing their chance, Windsor and Pound’s Dragon Guides rushed forward to perform their duty. As they ran, they laid out a "Fire Mist" on the ground—a substance designed to disrupt the prey’s senses and restrict its movements.
This involved igniting a special Alchemy Potion on the ground. The resulting flames emitted an odor that Low Tier Dragon Descendants found repulsive and terrifying, effectively trapping them within a crisscrossing barrier.
With its back to the cliff, the Wooden Beard Dragon Beast was now surrounded by the Fire Mist, completely trapped.
It could only turn and roar in fury, its sharp claws scrabbling at the rock face and carving deep gouges into the stone.
Seeing this, Pound told Windsor to use another Magic Card, then drew a Scale-Stripping Saber from his coat and started to move forward, but his Dragon Guide stopped him.
"Don’t get any closer! A Wooden Beard Dragon Beast’s scales and claws are highly toxic—enough to take down an elephant. See how its tail is coiled? Anyone who approaches will get struck. That instantaneous burst of power could slice a Black Iron Faith Knight in half..."
"First, we need to wear it down... ideally with Fire Element Magic Cards..."
Before he could finish, a ball of fire descended from the sky, landing on the Wooden Beard Dragon Beast and bursting into scorching flames. The creature let out a piercing shriek and struggled violently. The fire was so hot it cauterized the wounds before blood could even spill. It writhed in the torrent of fire like a tree dancing madly in a blazing inferno.
"Yes, that’s it, Mr. Pound! Just like that! Use the fire..."
The Dragon Guide had just begun to excitedly praise Pound for his decisive action when he saw Pound say in a low voice, "It wasn’t me."
When Pound’s Dragon Guide looked at Windsor, she too said softly, "It wasn’t me."
The three of them turned to look at Windsor’s unassuming Black Iron Dragon Guide, who simply shrank back. "I’m not a Law Enforcer."
’Then who was it? Could there be a third Wizard here?’
The four of them turned their gazes and saw a group of people emerging from the side of the forest.
Pound’s expression instantly turned venomous.
It was Dewey and his cronies.
A Trial Taker beside Dewey was still holding a glowing Magic Staff. Clearly, he was the one who had cast the Fire Element Magic just now.
