Chapter 299: Beta vs Gorilla
The gorilla beast stood tall, feet planted wide in the sand like he owned the whole beach. He raised one massive fist high above his head. Red aura exploded around him in thick, pulsing waves—hot enough that the air shimmered and the sand near his feet started to smoke a little.
"Prepare yourself, you little bitch!" he roared, voice shaking the ground. "I will be smashing you into a pulp now!" His eyes locked on Beta, full of pure hate and confidence.
A few goblins hanging back near the edge of the fight started snickering.
"Looks like big brother is pissed," one of them said, elbowing his buddy.
"It’s over for that girl," another goblin laughed, showing all his crooked teeth.
"Yeah," a third one added, nodding fast. "Even Lord Alaric acknowledged his strength at that time. This cat girl’s done for."
The crowd on the beach wasn’t so sure. People shifted nervously, hands gripping each other’s arms.
"Oye, he looks dangerous," one guy muttered, eyes wide.
Another voice shouted from farther back, "Don’t give up, Beta! You can do it!"
More cheers joined in.
"Come on, Beta!"
"Show him!"
"You got this!"
But Beta didn’t look worried at all. Her fluffy tail started swinging back and forth super fast, like a happy cat spotting a laser pointer. Her eyes sparkled bright—almost glowing—and a tiny bit of drool slipped out the corner of her mouth. She wiped it away with the back of her hand, grinning like she’d just seen the best thing ever.
"Oye," she called out to the gorilla, tilting her head. "Are you strong?" She asked it the same way a kid asks about the biggest, shiniest candy in the store.
The gorilla blinked. His raised fist froze for a second. "Huhh!?" He stared at her like she’d grown a second head.
"Are you out of your mind, girl?" he growled, sounding genuinely confused.
Beta put one finger to her lips, looking all innocent. "No, I am just asking."
The gorilla snorted, steam practically coming out of his nose. He lowered his fist a little, then slammed it into his other palm with a loud *thump*.
"Well then," he said, exhaling hard. His red aura flared even brighter, wrapping around his whole body like fire. His eyes narrowed, serious now—no more playing around. "I am strong enough to destroy you completely."
Beta’s grin got wider. Her tail whipped faster. Black-and-white aura started leaking out of her again, swirling around her arms and legs like living smoke.
"Mmm... good," she purred. "I like strong ones. Makes it more fun."
The serpent hissed from the side, still coiled and watching. "Don’t toy with her too long, Gorilla. Finish it quick."
The gorilla ignored him. He took one heavy step forward, sand crunching under his weight. Then another. Closing the gap slow, like he wanted her to feel every second of it coming.
Beta dropped low again, hands and feet digging into the sand like she was about to sprint. Her black-and-white aura swirled faster around her body, crackling like static electricity mixed with smoke.
"Ohh, well then," she said with a big grin, eyes locked on the gorilla. "It’s a contest—who can win this fight."
The serpent coiled up a little higher, smirking with all his sharp teeth showing. He flicked his tongue out once.
"It won’t even be a contest," he hissed, sounding super confident. "He will annihilate her in a flash."
The gorilla let out a huge roar that rattled everyone’s bones.
"Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
He slammed both fists against his chest—*BAM BAM BAM*—like a drum. His red aura exploded outward in a blazing wave, hot enough that the sand around him turned dark and glassy for a second. He bent his knees deep, muscles bulging, then launched himself forward like a cannonball wrapped in fire.
At the exact same moment, Beta copied him.
"Aaaaaaaa..."
She banged her own fists against her chest—*thump thump thump*—but it looked kind of silly and cute with her cat ears flopping a little. Still, her white aura flared up bright and wild, mixing with the black until it looked like spinning storm clouds around her.
She shot forward too, matching his speed. They met in the middle of the air.
*THUD!*
Their fists smashed together so hard the shockwave blasted sand outward in a perfect circle. The impact echoed like thunder rolling across the beach. For a split second they hung there, locked fist-to-fist, auras clashing in red versus black-and-white sparks.
The gorilla smirked down at her, teeth bared.
"Not bad, hu—"
He didn’t finish.
*SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!*
Beta’s claws moved so fast they blurred. Three quick, clean cuts—left, right, diagonal. No sound except the wet rip of flesh and bone.
She twisted mid-air, flipped over him like he was nothing, and landed lightly on her feet right in front of the serpent.
Behind her, the gorilla’s eyes went wide. His smirk froze. Then his huge body just... came apart.
Arms dropped. Legs buckled. Torso split open. Pieces and lumps hit the sand with heavy, wet thuds, blood spreading fast across the shore.
Absolute silence fell over the entire beach.
The monster horde stopped charging. The other shadow mystics paused mid-swing. Even the waves seemed to quiet down for a second.
Every single eye was on the gorilla’s remains—and on Beta, who stood there casually, claws dripping red, tail swishing slowly like she just finished swatting a fly.
One goblin near the back whispered, voice shaking.
"Oye..."
Another one stared with his mouth hanging open.
"What just happened?"
A third goblin swallowed hard.
"She took big brother down... just like that."
More whispers spread through the monsters like wildfire.
"No way..."
"He was supposed to be unstoppable..."
The serpent’s long body froze. A fat sweat bead rolled down the side of his scaly head and dripped off his jaw. His eyes were huge, pupils tiny slits. He gritted his teeth so hard you could hear them grinding.
Beta tilted her head at him, still grinning that wild, happy grin. She licked a bit of blood off one claw like it was frosting.
"Next?" she asked sweetly.
The serpent took one slow step back. His tail twitched nervously.
