Chapter 298: Beta vs Serpent & Gorilla

"Haaayaaaa!!"

Beta’s scream cut through the chaos like a wild siren. She launched herself high into the air, body twisting with pure joy, laughing like she’d lost her mind in the best way possible.

"Ahahahahaha!! I’m gonna crush you all!"

Her glowing claws swung in wide, deadly arcs as she came down. Every monster in her path—small aliens, goblins, twisted shadow things—got shredded instantly. Claws ripped through flesh and bone like they were nothing. Green blood and black goo sprayed everywhere, painting the sand in messy streaks.

Her long, fluffy tail whipped behind her with every move, balancing her mid-air flips and spins. Cat ears on top of her head twitched, picking up every sound of the fight. Her eyes glowed bright with excitement, fangs showing in that big, crazy grin.

Down on the beach, the crowd couldn’t look away.

"Oye, look at that girl with cat ears and tail," one man said, pointing with his phone already recording.

The woman next to him nodded fast. "Beta is her name, right?"

"Yeah," the man said, eyes wide. "She looks crazily strong."

More voices joined in from the crowd to cheer her up.

"Go, Beta!"

"Yeah! Tear ’em up!"

"Show those monsters!"

Beta caught the cheers mid-jump. She glanced over at the people for a quick second, ears perking up even more.

"Ohhoo! Seems like people are praising me," she said with a wicked grin. Then her focus snapped right back to the enemies in front of her. "Hehe... keep cheering! Makes me wanna kill even more!"

She dove back in, claws flashing faster to kill everyone in front of her.

But then—

*CLANG!*

A massive serpent tail slammed into her claws, stopping her swing dead. At the same time, the gorilla-like beast leaped in and grabbed her other arm, locking her in place mid-air. Their grips were like iron vices.

Beta’s laugh cut off for a second. She hung there, suspended between the two huge monsters.

"Hmph! You have enjoyed yourself enough!" the serpent hissed, tongue flicking out. Its eyes narrowed with anger.

It spun fast—body coiling like a whip—and smashed its thick tail straight into Beta’s stomach.

*THUD!*

The hit landed hard. Air whooshed out of her lungs in a sharp grunt. Her body folded, and she flew backward, crashing into the sand with enough force to kick up a big cloud of dust and sand.

*BOOM.*

She skidded a few feet, leaving a groove in the beach, before rolling to a stop on her back.

The crowd gasped.

"Oh no—"

"Is she okay?"

Beta coughed once, then pushed herself up on one elbow. Sand stuck to her clothes and hair, but that grin was still there—maybe even bigger now.

The serpent and gorilla dropped down in front of her, heavy feet shaking the ground. The serpent reared up tall, scales glinting. The gorilla cracked its knuckles, roaring low and deep. Both looked ready to finish her.

Beta wiped a bit of blood from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand. She laughed again—low at first, then louder.

"Heh... hehehe... not bad. That actually stung a little."

She stood up slowly, stretching her neck side to side. Her tail lashed behind her like an angry whip. Claws flexed, glowing brighter.

"But if you think that’s enough to stop me..."

Her eyes locked on them, pupils narrowing to slits like a real cat ready to pounce. "...you’re gonna be really disappointed."

The sand still swirled from Beta’s crash landing. She sat there for a second, one hand on her stomach, rubbing it like she’d just eaten too much spicy food.

"Admit your defeat, you wild cat!" the gorilla beast growled, pounding one massive fist into the other palm. His voice was deep and rough, like rocks grinding together.

The serpent coiled tighter beside him, scales glinting under the sun. Its forked tongue flicked in and out as it hissed.

"She is no good. We should kill her off and walk away to the other bitches."

Beta scratched her stomach again, right where the tail had slammed her. She made a face like it was just a little itch. "Arghh! That tickled on my stomach. Jeez."

"Huhh!? Tickled?" The serpent’s eyes narrowed. Its head tilted in confusion.

It looked genuinely thrown off. That hit had been strong enough to crack stone, and this girl was acting like she’d been poked with a feather.

"You are too lightweight, Serpent. You don’t know how to hit anyone. Maybe you should stick to biting." The gorilla snorted and stepped forward, shoving past the serpent a little.

"Tch!" The serpent hissed louder, clearly pissed. Its tail twitched angrily. "You got a big mouth, Gorilla."

The gorilla ignored him. He cracked his neck side to side, muscles bulging under dark fur. A low red glow started leaking from his body—gentle waves of aura rolling off him like heat from a fire. The air around him shimmered, and the sand at his feet started to vibrate.

"I will end her myself!"

"Ohhoo... you got aura as well!" Beta’s cat ears perked straight up. Her eyes lit up like fireworks. She grinned so wide you could see every sharp tooth.

She bounced lightly on her toes, tail swishing fast behind her. The excitement was practically coming off her in waves.

"Yeah. Now count to ten. You’ll be asleep forever by then." The gorilla kept walking closer, slow and heavy, each step sinking deep into the sand.

From the crowd, voices started shouting again.

"You can do it, Beta!"

"Beat his ass!"

"Show him!"

Beta laughed—a sharp, happy sound. She dropped down to all fours, fingers digging into the sand like claws. Black and white energy exploded out of her body in swirling waves. It mixed together like smoke and lightning, crackling around her arms, legs, and tail. Her teeth bared fully now, eyes glowing bright.

"I know I can!" she yelled back at the crowd, winking at them.

Then she looked straight at the gorilla, grin turning feral.

"Let’s see now who wins!"
