Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113 - Taming the Wall - Rest - 2
Getting the little fungus back was absolutely everything Ren had needed.
With the tiny entity safely anchored back in its rightful corner of his mana system-space, reactive, humming with that quiet, steady presence Ren only ever realized he missed when it was violently ripped away, his entire internal world reorganized itself.
The intricate mana channels that had sputtered and ground against each other during the escape, operating with the agonizing friction of a machine missing a vital gear, seamlessly clicked back into place.
Instantly, his monstrous regeneration kicked in. It was a terrifying, unnatural advantage that fundamentally separated Ren from any conventional Tamer. His mana went into overdrive, rapidly repairing the microscopic internal damage at a blistering speed that no common healer could ever hope to replicate.
It didn’t even take him a full twenty-four hours to return to his absolute one hundred percent.
In fact, the only reason he remained confined to the mattress until the following morning was the girls. They were suffocatingly worried, and they absolutely refused to let him stand up.
Every single time he shifted his weight or tried to swing his legs over the edge of the bed, they intercepted him with a fiercely coordinated insistence, gently but firmly pushing him back into the pillows.
And Ren, even though it made his cheeks burn just to admit it in the privacy of his own mind, had to accept that being pampered all day wasn’t entirely a bad thing.
It was all in the small details. Liora’s hand gently smoothing out a wrinkle in his blanket for absolutely no reason. Larissa quietly anticipating his needs, placing a glass of water on the nightstand right before he even realized he was thirsty. Luna sitting close by the window, pretending to be deeply engrossed in a book, but immediately snapping her eyes up the second his breathing hitched or he shifted his weight.
It was profoundly embarrassing to let himself be coddled like this.

But it wasn’t unpleasant... It wasn’t unpleasant at all.
His parents practically crushed the breath out of him when he finally managed to stand up and convince them he was fully healed.
Fern threw her arms around his neck first. She held him with the terrifying, bone-deep strength of a mother who had spent the previous two days holding her breath, waiting to see if her son was ever going to open his eyes again. She only let go when Reed gently placed a heavy, calloused hand on her shoulder, quietly reminding her that the boy still needed oxygen to live.
Reed pulled them both into a softer, briefer embrace. He didn’t offer a grand speech. He just told him to try not to worry his mom too much and gave Ren a firm, solid pat on the back, a gesture that perfectly articulated everything the gentle man couldn’t bring himself to say out loud in front of a room full of eyes.
They all knew the reality of the Wall with the daily attacks from outside, but knew Ren was not in danger there. After this brief respite, Ren would inevitably have to return to that Wall. So, his parents headed back home.
They were still wrapped in a lingering layer of worry, but the crushing panic had subsided now that they had seen him walking and breathing just fine.
Currently, Fern and Reed were shouldering part of the monumental task of managing the sprawling Patinder territory, the massive expanse of land formerly known as Goldcrest. They weren’t doing it alone; Arturo’s administration, alongside Selphira and Julius’s veteran staff, provided a massive structural safety net.
Thanks to that support, the political responsibility wasn’t entirely crushing, but governing a territory wasn’t exactly something they had been born to do. The learning curve was vertical and grueling.
Surprisingly, Klein had emerged as one of their most invaluable assets.
As a child, Klein had received the rigorous, foundational education required to eventually rule his former territory. It was the residual scaffolding of an aristocratic life he had never actually gotten to live. But that suppressed knowledge was blooming now. He understood the geographical and political nuances of the zone well enough to anticipate logistical nightmares long before they materialized.
Viewing the territory’s problems from a modernized, now ’outsider perspective’ allowed Klein to be remarkably bold and open-minded when drafting solutions.
And then there was Theodore.
Empowered by the spore-fungus anchored to Finch, Theodore was functionally managing the financial infrastructure of the entire territory single-handedly. His brain processed taxation, trade routes, and resource allocation at a terrifying, blistering speed that previously would have required an entire room full of elite mouse accountants.
Together, step by step, Ren’s family was integrating their massive new obligations into their daily lives. The sheer weight of it wasn’t crushing them anymore. Week by week, the terrifying, overwhelming burden of rulership was slowly morphing into something resembling a normal routine.
When his internal system was finally, flawlessly in order, Ren turned to look at Luna.
"It’s time."
Two simple words, but they instantly shattered the calm. Luna’s nervous system spiked with sudden, strong anxiety.
With her father, the resurrection had been a violent, rushed ambush rather than a deliberate wait. It had been an absolute emergency. The trap had been closing, the corruption was actively devouring Sirius’s core minute by minute, and when Luna got the information from Larissa in their way to help there simply hadn’t been any psychological space for the fear of failure to set in.
In a brutal environment where every second wasted on hesitation was a second stolen from survival, the frantic, blinding rush to save Ren had actually been a strange kind of mercy.
Now, there was no rush.

And the total absence of a ticking clock opened a massive, suffocating void in Luna’s mind. That void instantly filled with terrifying fantasies of every single microscopic variable that could go wrong.
What if the transmutation process, stripped of the adrenaline and brute force that had fueled it the first time, revealed a fatal flaw the urgency had masked? What if the magical feedback of the first ’mana dead’ had affected Ren’s beast permanently?
What if her mother, after all these agonizing years of waiting, after a thousand rewritten letters, after Luna had guarded the pristine crystal in her shadow without allowing a single scratch to mar its surface, turned out to be internally damaged in a way no one could diagnose until the process was already active?
The heavy, dreadful caveat Ren had repeated so many times about the crystallization process, the phrase "almost certainly", echoed violently in Luna’s head now. It carried a crushing, paralyzing weight she simply hadn’t had the time to feel when her father’s life was on the line.
"Nothing is going to go wrong."
Ren didn’t say it with the hollow, placating tone of someone just trying to calm a panic attack. He spoke with the heavy, grounded and absolute certainty of a craftsman who had perfectly mapped his own machinery.
"I have mastered it," Ren stated firmly. "The first time, I was literally learning the biological mapping on the fly, surrounded by total chaos, while that crazy girl actively tried to kill us. This time? I know the exact architectural pathways. I know exactly how the spell weaves together, and I know exactly how to make the data load vastly easier to carry."
He held Luna’s panicked gaze for a long, heavy second, ensuring the absolute truth of his words anchored her racing mind.
Then, he turned his attention to the rest of the group.
"But I am going to need every single available mushroom user. Every single non busy one. Including the maids."
