Chapter 1111: Chapter 1111 - Taming the Wall - Acknowledgment, Credence
He asked Luna directly...
And he didn’t use long, winding diplomatic preambles, he spoke with the delicate, agonizing care of a man who knew the answer mattered far too much to ruin it with a clumsy question.
So he just honestly let out everything that was in his mind.
Luna’s cheeks instantly flushed crimson and she let out a heavy sigh.
She already knew she couldn’t evade this. She had known this subject was coming the exact second her father woke up. She had dreaded it even before that, anticipating the difficulty of explaining the monumental shifts in her life to a dad who had been frozen in time to see and slowly digest the process himself.
Hearing his honest yet incomplete view was better than many of the possible outcomes. She hadn’t known how he would react.
And internally, as she scrambled to find the right words to explain and give a bigger picture, a sudden, fierce spark of defensive anger flared in her chest. It wasn’t directed exactly at her father, but at the suffocating, judgmental position the situation forced her into.
’Ren won my heart without even asking for it,’ her internal voice was gaining strength, her mana violently spiking beneath her calm exterior. ’I am not going to give father a single inch to complain! REN IS MY MOST CHERISHED PERSON! HE IS SITTING AT THE VERY TOP OF MY PRIORITIES, EVEN ABOVE YOU FATHER! SO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT!’
She was already shouting a ferocious defense in her head before poor Sirius even finished formulating his concern.
But in the physical reality, she just kept her chin high. Her high house composure snapped flawlessly back into place, sealing the internal tempest away.
"The decision is already made, Dad. I am going to be with Ren, no matter what." She paused, tilting her chin up another defiant, unyielding degree. "And you had better give us your blessing at the wedding!"
Sirius slowly raised both hands in a gesture of absolute surrender.

"I am not going to stand in your way," he assured her, his voice low and steady. "Quite the opposite, I’m glad is him." He lowered his hands, the yielding father instantly replaced by the analytical commander. "But... What is going to happen with Larissa and Liora? If all three of you seem to be equally..."
"No, you don’t get it... Nothing is going to happen," Luna cut him off. "Because all three of us are in absolute agreement. It is going to be an alliance, Dad. Not a war."
Sirius went ice cold.
He analyzed his daughter. He pushed his hyper-tuned empathy to its absolute limit, scanning her aura. He searched for the hidden remorse. He looked for the contained suffering, the hairline fracture of jealousy beneath her perfect composure that he could always, always find in this kind of relationship because it was always there.
He found absolutely nothing.
Luna was genuinely, completely fine with it.
A violent, chaotic succession of emotions tore through Sirius. The heat rushed up his neck again. The protective, foaming rage bubbled right at the edge of his throat. The part of him that had spent a lifetime building honor, securing rank, and demanding respect violently rebelled against the idea of his precious daughter sharing a husband.
But then, just as it had every single time he felt the rage building today, a memory slammed into him.
He saw Ren bleeding in the ruins. He saw the boy dragging him through the dark, fighting the world-ending corruption over and over again until his brain hemorrhaged. He had done all of that for Sirius, a man who was, to Ren, nothing but the father of a girl he cared about. Ren had shattered his own soul to save him, entirely for her.
Sirius ground his teeth together, violently locking the whirlwind of his own emotions behind an iron gate.
"Will you truly be happy like this?"
Luna looked him dead in the eyes.
"Yes."

Sirius felt it immediately. The emotional texture radiating from his daughter in that moment was vastly more complicated than a simple "yes".
It wasn’t false, not even close, but it carried a heavy, intricate depth. And before he could question it, before he could point out the complex web his empathy was reading beneath her simple answer, Luna spoke again.
She delivered words that he didn’t expect. It sounded like the profound, ancient wisdom of Selphira, meticulously filtered and forged into Luna’s own absolute truth.
"True happiness isn’t just fleeting joy today, Dad. It isn’t a passing thrill, and it doesn’t depend on what other people think." She spoke with the grounded, unshakable calm of a woman who had analyzed this exact reality a thousand times over in the dark.
"I am incredibly lucky, and I am profoundly blessed. Because I am going to get back everything I lost, and more... And I owe every single piece of that miracle to him. It isn’t just an enormous gratitude, although it is that too. With him, I feel safe, I feel useful and I feel like I am actively contributing to a goal that is so much bigger than myself."
She stared at him, unblinking, her eyes burning with quiet steel. "I have absolutely no regrets. I wouldn’t do a single thing differently, even if I was given another life. I am exactly where I want to be."
And with that absolute finality, she turned on her heel and walked back into Ren’s room.
Sirius was left standing completely alone in the cold, stone hallway.
He leaned against the wall, a heavy realization settling deep into his bones... He truly had missed so much.
His little girl had grown up in ways that went far, far beyond her striking resemblance to Lykea. She had grown inward. She had forged an impenetrable core of certainties that he had never given her. She had built that strength all on her own, or perhaps with the help of the people who had stood by her when he was frozen in time.
He let out a long, shuddering sigh.
The turbulent emotions of the day were still churning in his chest, somewhat unresolved. Some things simply couldn’t be fixed or accepted in a single day, no matter how desperately a man wanted to resolve them.
Sharing... An ’alliance’ instead of a singular, more common marriage. His daughter, Lykea’s flesh and blood, locked into a controversial arrangement that any idiot noble could use as ammunition to whisper, to gossip, to look down their noses at her.

That final, intrusive thought was exactly the spark Sirius needed. It gave him his new absolute, lethal direction.
If his daughter had chosen this path... if she was truly, undeniably exactly where she wanted to be... then it was no longer Sirius’s job to stand in her way or question it.
His job was to ensure that absolutely no one, not a single, pathetic, gossiping noble in the entire last bastion of humanity, ever had the room to speak about his daughter with anything less than absolute, groveling respect.
And he knew exactly how to guarantee it.
The absolute least he could do was push this boy until he became King someday.
Because absolutely no one dared to whisper about a King’s wives. You couldn’t expect anything less!
No one looked down their nose at the wife of a sovereign. A King’s wife commanded absolute respect, or the offenders faced catastrophic consequences. And Sirius Starweaver was absolutely not going to spend the rest of his resurrected life hunting down idiot nobles to shut their mouths one by one.
His daughter was going to be respected.
By everyone.
Sirius straightened his spine. He stood tall in the empty corridor, a cold, terrifyingly calm determination settling over him. In the middle of a chaotic world he couldn’t control, he had finally found one highly specific, concrete objective he could actively execute.
’Father-in-law to the King.’
He smirked into the shadows. The title didn’t sound half bad...
