Chapter 545: Chapter 194: Personnel Coordination and Hardline Measures

Finally it was the turn of the childless couples: 69 households, 138 people. Cheng Ye no longer chose a single leader, but instead carried out a series of dizzyingly fast, almost brutal allocations.

He picked out 22 pairs of strong young couples and directly folded them into the infrastructure team to work under Sun Dazheng.

He grouped 47 thin women who weren’t suited for heavy labor together with the girls from the families with children, in pairs or trios, making up a 116-person logistics team.

"Shen Yan, you take the lead on logistics." Cheng Ye pointed at Lin Xiaoshan’s wife. "Carrying small supplies, sorting construction materials, boiling water, helping with the small tasks during construction—these all fall under you."

As he spoke, he pointed again at Wang Kang. "Inspector Wang will oversee and coordinate all on-site construction guidance. I’m responsible for handling emergencies. Is that clear to everyone?"

His gaze swept across the ranks. Everyone first looked to Wang Kang for confirmation, then responded in unison:

"Clear!"

The shout made the dust on the deserted street tremble ever so slightly, and even up on the rooftop, several hidden observers couldn’t help exchanging glances and nodding.

Purely in terms of personnel coordination efficiency, this Intern Inspector Cheng Ye was anything but green.

And compared to Luokuke’s side, which was still unpacking supplies, registering information, and getting to know each other, the difference in level was immediately obvious.

In the end, Cheng Ye looked at the 47 men among the childless couples, his voice suddenly rising: "The rest of you men are the main force for clearing and opening up new ground! Get to know each other right now—state your names clearly, say what you’re good at. Huang Liang, go over and take charge of the team, record each person’s situation, and in the afternoon you’ll come with me to clear the outer perimeter."

"Yes, sir!" Huang Liang immediately answered and stepped forward, quickly walking to stand before the men. He reported his own name first, then raised his hand, signaling for everyone to introduce themselves one by one.

In just ten short minutes, the five-hundred-strong group had been broken down into clear, well-ordered units, each with its own responsibilities.

The able-bodied were divided into three teams.

Li Jie led patrols, Liu Jianjun led garrison duty, and Bao Dashan led responses to expansion and clearing needs.

Among the family units, Sun Dazheng handled construction, Ma Mingyuan supervised order and pay calculations, Lin Xiaoshan coordinated between them, and Shen Yan headed logistics.

The 47 men separated out at the end were temporarily under Huang Liang’s command, ready at any time for his orders.

Everyone had something to do, and every task had someone in charge.

It took only twenty minutes to let each group get acquainted; basic coordination and cooperation were already taking shape.

As for registering personnel information, Cheng Ye was in no hurry to start. Daytime was prime time for infrastructure and clearing work; the night would be long enough to sort everything out slowly.

Besides, he had spent no small amount of effort to be able to call everyone by name and match each face—just so he could straighten out the groupings at the first opportunity and establish authority.

Now, it seemed, the results were very good.

"All right, listen up. Don’t rush to unpack the supplies yet!"

Cheng Ye took a small loudspeaker from his backpack, his voice cutting across the deserted street. "The supplies don’t need to be unpacked for now! Look at the buildings on both sides of the road. Don’t be fooled by how abandoned and broken they look; at least they still have roofs over them. They can serve as temporary hiding places! You have ten minutes of free movement. Every single person must find a place where you can hide and shelter from harassment!"

As soon as his words fell, the crowd scattered with a roar.

These buildings had already been cleared in advance by the Legion, so there were no infection hazards. Everyone just needed to focus on finding a place to settle.

Cheng Ye raised his head and looked toward the horizon. Although there wasn’t even a shadow of a bird at the moment, the commotion of a thousand people gathered together was too great. It wouldn’t be long before those Thorn Birds were inevitably drawn over.

Before the residential units were set up, these dilapidated houses were the only shield the crowd had against attacks from the air!
