Chapter 544: Chapter 194: Personnel Coordination, Tough Measures! (Part 3)
After sparring so many times before, Luokuke didn’t react much, but this sentence actually made him laugh angrily.
In terms of posturing, Cheng Ye actually behaved quite convincingly, did he really consider himself the core of the checkpoint?
He hummed with a shake of his head, but ultimately shook his head again, "Well then, good luck."
"Hmm, good luck to you too."
The two stood at the boundary and shook hands.
Instinctively, Wang Kang thought they were going to compete in strength again, but the two only shook hands lightly and nodded, not showing any of their previous tension.
After Luokuke walked away, Wang Kang whispered, "Brother Cheng, he’s copying us at every turn, can he really win?"
Cheng Ye watched Luokuke’s back, thoughtful, and didn’t reply immediately.
Actually, he had found it strange for a while; Luokuke had no need to struggle against him in front of so many Inspectors just to stick up for Garcia.
Winning would just mean a Third-Phase bullying a novice, which would be embarrassing if spread around.
Losing would be even worse, humiliating Luokuke and boosting the reputation of him, a newcomer, without reason.
With the emotional intelligence Luokuke displayed, why would he do something so obviously disadvantageous?
Yet he did it, and in hindsight, that deliberate posture was reminiscent of Liu Bi forcing him to call him "Brother B," intentionally elevating his status.
"No, winning might not be his goal, this is a... clever person."
"Huh?" Wang Kang was stunned, "He doesn’t want to win?"
"It’s not that he doesn’t want to win; it’s that what he wants to win, is different from what we understand."
Cheng Ye withdrew his gaze, "But it doesn’t matter, no matter what he’s up to, our goal remains the same, we must beat him in this assessment."
"Right!" Wang Kang instantly understood and sensibly didn’t press further.
Temporarily putting the confrontation aside, the two reset their mood and stepped over the boundary.
It wasn’t even noon yet, even though the Inspectors had arrived, they couldn’t interact with the residents.
On the roof of the government building, several gray-clad undercover agents stood openly, seeing Cheng Ye look over, they gestured to him to maintain a certain distance.
"Still twenty minutes to go, let’s organize the supplies first."
Cheng Ye raised his hand to subtly lower it, and the residents immediately quieted down in understanding.
When the supplies in the waterproof bags were mostly sorted out, a loud voice projected through a loudspeaker from above:
"The assessment formally begins!"
The undercover agents instantly disappeared, and the residents, as if released from a seal, surged forward.
A formation of five hundred wasn’t small, but Wang Kang, having worked with the community for a while, wasn’t fazed by it anymore.
Having trained three hundred militia, Cheng Ye wasn’t intimidated by the scene either.
He immediately raised his hand on the deserted street to indicate that families, young adults, and childless couples should line up in three rows.
"Bao Dashan, Li Jie, Liu Jianjun!" Cheng Ye shouted robustly, "Step forward!"
Three people immediately stepped out from the young adults’ line.
Cheng Ye’s finger swept quickly over the crowd, each name left his mouth, accurately matching each face.
Initially, the crowd barely reacted, but as more and more names were called, more individuals began to show surprise and realization on their faces.
Within half a day, even among the mining families, they had not become familiar with one another, yet Cheng Ye could already name all the young adults.
"Bao Dashan, these 16 people are under your charge. Those I’ve named, step forward and stand to my left, familiarize yourselves with faces and names, you must know each other within half an hour."
"Li Jie, you take these 24 people. Having served in the White Stone Shelter City Pioneer Corps, quickly form three 8-man teams, not only must you remember team members’ information, but you also need to train basic coordination as fast as possible; you need to be able to patrol as a team by the afternoon."
"Liu Jianjun, the remaining 18 people are yours, same team formation, same requirements, as the camp’s permanent defense force."
Sixty-two young adults moved at the sound, dividing into teams in the blink of an eye, with only one person scratching his head and asking, "Sir, what about me?"
"Huang Liang, you follow me, as my personal assistant." Cheng Ye nodded with a smile.
The named Huang Liang, in his early twenties, was full of taut muscles; Elder Song had a keen eye and had only picked him out of five hundred people.
The evaluation was "with some temperament training, his future achievements will be no less than Long’s."
This was already a very high evaluation, in the Wasteland Era, human cognition had not regressed, not everyone had the ancient generals’ ability to lead thousands; managing three to five hundred people steadily without trouble was already a rare talent, someone capable of keeping a thousand people organized would be sought after anywhere.
"Thank you, Sir!" Huang Liang’s eyes lit up, and he quickly took his place behind Cheng Ye, standing perfectly straight.
The young adults adapted very quickly, as Bao Dashan, Li Jie, and Liu Jianjun already had their small groups, they just needed the new members to state their names and specialties, and a semblance of a team formed quickly.
Turning to the family line, Cheng Ye called out Lin Xiaoshan, Sun Dazheng, and Ma Mingyuan: "Seventy-five families with children, you three will be representatives."
"Sun Dazheng, you’re an old carpenter, in charge of overseeing all construction work, shortages of building materials, construction issues, and discoveries of anomalies, all report to me directly."
"Ma Mingyuan, having run a trade caravan and being meticulous, you are responsible for maintaining order, handling task assignments, monitoring progress, and calculating compensation, all of which will be your responsibility."
"Lin Xiaoshan, you will coordinate between the two, if Sun or Ma have issues they can’t resolve, come to me immediately."
"Yes, Sir!" The three stepped out of the line in unison to respond.
These families with children, selected from the refugee phalanx, were obedient and cohesive, needing no effort to divide; just someone to accurately relay orders and shoulder responsibility was sufficient.
