Chapter 593: Chapter 592: The Final Decision (5)

The relationship that was once good became impossible to maintain, not even as good friends, because they couldn’t become lovers.

Bella Acker sighed silently in her heart, and after fixing her makeup, started acting opposite Archer Quinn.

Archer Quinn seemed to be in good shape, but when it came to the actual shooting, it was a completely different story.

After twenty-six takes in a row for one scene, Director Simons finally exploded on the spot.

"Joan, were you dragged into a fairy cave by some demon last night and overwhelmed to the point of being spaced out? Can you perform at a somewhat normal level?" Director Simons was furious, holding an electronic loudspeaker and insulting harshly, "In your current state, I could pull any random person off the street and they could act better than you."

Director Simons had very high demands for filming, which often made him quite irritable during shooting.

Actors who joined his crew rarely escaped his scolding. Even some seasoned award-winning actors and actresses could be berated if they didn’t perform well and had too many takes.

"Sorry." Archer Quinn apologized good-naturedly to everyone, "Thank you all for your hard work."

Director Simons sighed, "Everyone take a twenty-minute break. Joan and Bella, come here. I’ll talk to you about this scene."

After the repeated takes, everyone was a bit tired, and the crew went to rest on the side, while Archer Quinn and Bella Acker headed towards Director Simons.

In the past, Archer Quinn would invariably walk beside Bella Acker, but now he walked ahead alone, leaving Bella to walk behind.

Bella Acker knew he was intentionally keeping his distance, so she kindly slowed her pace, falling four or five steps behind him.

Even those who initially didn’t notice anything amiss gradually started to pick up on the signs.

Are Joan and Bella having a conflict?

In the entertainment circle, it’s common for former good friends to turn into strangers overnight due to competition over resources. But considering Bella’s current level as a newcomer, it’s impossible for her to compete for Joan’s resources.

So why are they at odds?

Director Simons noticed it too, glancing at Bella Acker following behind Archer Quinn, then fixing his gaze on Archer, mocking, "What happened to you? Got drained empty overnight?"

Archer Quinn rubbed his brow, not responding.

Bella Acker finally caught up.

Director Simons picked up the script, "Bella, in this scene, you are sorting out your boyfriend’s belongings and preparing to leave. Your eyes should be full of sadness and remembrance. However, when you see Joan appear, that sadness and remembrance should all turn into hatred. This scene is about the internal emotions, so you don’t need too much deliberate expression on your face; it’s mainly in the eyes. All these emotions should be portrayed through your eyes. I want to see a genuinely emotional yet natural performance."

"Okay, Director Simons, I understand." Bella Acker nodded.

Director Simons said, "Look in a mirror and rehearse several times, capturing the emotion in your eyes."

"Mm." Bella Acker agreed, glanced at Archer Quinn beside her, wanting to say something to comfort him, but whatever she thought to say seemed inappropriate; eventually, she simply said, "Senior Quinn, hang in there."

Archer Quinn smiled gently, "I’m sorry for dragging you into all these retakes."

They had done many retakes before while filming, but they never had to apologize so politely. Because such politeness seemed courteous, but actually, it created distance.

"It’s okay." Bella Acker lowered her eyes, smiled, and turned away.

Director Simons sighed and looked at Archer Quinn, "What’s gotten into you?"
