Chapter 590: Chapter 589: Making the Final Decision (Part 2)
Archer Quinn drove her back, how could she have had dinner with Sharon Cheney?
Damian Sinclair listened to her lie, his heart felt as if it had been struck heavily with a hammer, a dull pain that left him speechless, unable to swallow it down.
Why did she deliberately lie? Could it be something between her and Archer Quinn...
Damian frowned, refusing to think further.
Bella Acker noticed the silence on the phone and tentatively asked, "What about you? Have you had dinner?"
"No," Damian massaged his temples, "The meeting went too late today, had a lot of emails to deal with, just finished and was about to take you out to eat."
"I... I already ate." Bella hesitated for a moment, it was already past midnight, had he really been busy all this time without eating? Could this be because he had been visiting the hospital so much lately that his workload piled up?
"Alright, I know," Damian’s deep and cool voice revealed no emotion.
Bella clutched the phone, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Then... you should eat something quickly and get some rest."
"I don’t feel like eating," Damian said, "Is everything settled with the rental apartment?"
"Just returning the place, nothing much to settle," Bella replied, "By the way, about Cecilia Lynch’s hospitalization..."
"You don’t have to worry about that, I’ll take care of it," Damian said, "Whatever my mom said to you at the hospital, don’t take it to heart, I’ll talk to her."
"How... how are you going to talk to her?" Bella couldn’t help but ask, then realized it might seem like she was pressuring him, quickly adding, "I was just asking casually, nothing else."
"You’re my fiancée, isn’t it normal to have some opinions?"
Listening to his voice, Bella wanted to say that between them, they were barely even in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship now, let alone engaged. But the words stuck on her tongue, and she held onto the ring hanging from her neck, ultimately unable to say anything.
"You should go eat, I’ll hang up now." Bella softly sidestepped the topic.
"About your father and my brother, I’ll talk to my mom," Damian said, "You are my fiancée, your matters are my matters."
Hearing him say this, Bella’s heart suddenly trembled, a wave of grievance suddenly surged up.
The months of hopeless waiting seemed to suddenly reveal a glimmer of hope. Although Mrs. Sinclair’s attitude made this hope very slim, at least Damian’s attitude gave her a reason to keep going.
Aunt Sienna, you were right. It’s not easy to grasp happiness, but this time, I really want to be selfish for once.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but Bella smiled, "Damian, this time I want to be selfish."
"What?" Her sudden words bewildered Damian.
"This time, I don’t want to consider anyone else’s feelings, nor hesitations. I want to be thoroughly selfish," Bella said firmly, "Even if I regret it later, I still want to do it."
"Do what? Bella, what do you want to do?" Damian frowned, an unsettling feeling in his heart, "Go out on the balcony and look across the street, I’m there."
Bella paused for a moment, and obediently, she opened the glass door and walked onto the balcony while holding her phone.
Damian turned on the flashlight on his phone. She stood on the balcony, looking towards the street, and saw the light from his phone there.
