Chapter 589: Chapter 588: Making the Final Decision

Bea was carefree, snatched the bottle from Archer Quinn’s hand, poured a good amount into her own glass, and raised her head to drink it all.

Archer Quinn held onto his glass, watching her.

Bea finished her drink without even a frown, and raised her empty glass towards him.

Archer Quinn suddenly laughed, refilled her glass, and poured one for himself too.

They clinked glasses and downed their drinks in one go.

Meanwhile, Bella Acker returned to her apartment alone, feeling a bit confused inside.

She had always considered Senior Quinn as a mentor and friend, never having thought about him as a boyfriend. His sudden confession today really took her by surprise.

Bella Acker closed the apartment door and muttered to herself, "What should I do? Should I stop talking to Senior Quinn from now on?"

Losing such a friend left her feeling a bit lost, but she couldn’t reciprocate Senior Quinn’s feelings; not clarifying things would only hurt him.

Bella Acker sighed, just as she placed her keys on the entryway cabinet, her phone rang in her pocket.

The caller ID showed it was her husband; Bella Acker stared at it for a moment, then turned off the ringtone and switched on the living room light, choosing not to take the call.

She hadn’t yet figured out how to talk to him about this before sorting through her thoughts.

The phone vibrated for a long time, ringing until it automatically hung up and the room finally became quiet.

Bella Acker kept holding her phone, only feeling relieved once the call disconnected.

But she hadn’t relaxed fully when the phone began ringing again, still showing her husband as the caller.

Bella Acker felt a tremor in her heart, so she hurriedly tucked her phone under the sofa cushion, and avoiding the situation, she dashed into the bathroom to get her pajamas for a shower.

Warm water flowed over her skin, and Bella Acker absently scrubbed her arms with the loofah, musing to herself in a daze, "If I don’t answer, Damian probably won’t call again, right? Will he still continue to call..."

She escaped to shower to avoid answering, yet her thoughts stayed on the phone in the living room.

Bella Acker pressed her lips, quickly rinsed off the soap, threw on her clothes, and dashed back to the living room, "Phone, phone..."

She flipped over two or three cushions before finally finding the phone hidden underneath.

She turned on the phone, which showed five missed calls. Just as she prepared to unlock her phone, another call came in, still showing her husband.

Bella Acker pressed her lips together, clutching the phone to her chest, and took two deep breaths before pressing the green button to answer, "Hello..."

"Why didn’t you answer the phone?" Damian Sinclair’s typically cool voice came through the line, but if listened to carefully, one might detect a hint of weariness underlying it.

Bella Acker unconsciously clenched her fingers around the phone, softly replying, "I was taking a shower earlier, so I didn’t hear the phone ring."

Damian Sinclair listened to the voice on the phone, leaned against the car, and looked up at the lit balcony. He watched her enter the complex with Archer Quinn, waited until Archer left before calling her; the ringtone sounded and the living room light came on, yet she claimed she missed the call due to showering.

Knowing she was lying, there was nothing he could say.

Damian Sinclair raised his head to look at the glowing balcony light and asked, "Have you eaten yet?"

"I have." Bella Acker’s voice was low, bearing some of the awkwardness of lying.

"Who did you have dinner with?"

"With... with my godmother." Remembering Senior Quinn’s confession tonight, Bella Acker suddenly lied again, not even knowing why she felt so guilty inside.
