Chapter 914: The Realm of Ice Elves (13)
Bella’s Flame Shield flared brightly as the wyrms circled, preparing to dive at her with their icy breath. She didn’t flinch. Summon: Fire Spirits erupted from the ground, their fiery forms dancing around her in a protective circle. As one wyrm rushed her, she unleashed a Fireball into its path, the explosion vaporizing the creature mid-flight. The surrounding wyrms hesitated, thrown off balance by the eruption of heat.
Bella surged forward, Will of Flames igniting her staff with intense heat. A second wyrm lunged at her, and she sidestepped with fluid grace. The wyrm’s massive jaws snapped shut on nothing as Bella leapt, bringing her staff down on its back with a mighty crash. The staff created a burst of fire that sent the wyrm spiraling, its body cracking under the force of the blow. It fell to the ground in a smoking heap.
Another wyrm circled in the air, readying to strike. Bella snapped her fingers, and a Wall of Fire burst from the ground, forming a barrier of intense heat that warded off the oncoming attack. As the wyrm swerved to avoid the fire, Bella pointed her staff and sent a Fireball hurtling through the air, the blast exploding as it struck the wyrm mid-flight, causing it to tumble from the sky.
Aisa moved through the chaos with the ethereal grace of a ghost. Her Ghost Step allowed her to phase in and out of existence as the wyrms dove at her with ferocity. She had no time for hesitation; every strike needed to be precise.
One wyrm swiped at her with its claws, but she phased through its attack, reappearing just behind it. Her daggers flashed in the air, cutting through the wyrm’s wings with a series of rapid strikes. The beast screeched as its flight was crippled, and it fell to the ground, but Aisa was already gone, reappearing above another wyrm just as it dove at her from the side.
Her High Ghostly Presence enhanced her attacks, and with every slash, her daggers left ghostly trails of energy, slicing through the wyrms with ease. When one wyrm attempted to clamp down on her from below, she phased out of its jaws and reappeared above it, sinking both daggers deep into its skull.
She was a blur, moving faster than the wyrms could react, each strike deliberate and fatal. With each swipe, the wyrms were whittled down, their attacks becoming increasingly ineffective against her ethereal form.
Luna’s illusions swirled like a tempest. As the wyrms attacked, their attacks were no longer directed at her—they were attacking their own allies, clawing at the air and snapping at the shadows in confusion. The Mirror Images she had created scattered through the air, each one drawing the wyrms off course as they tried to attack the wrong target.
Luna raised her staff high, and the Nightmare Projection expanded, distorting reality itself. The wyrms’ bodies froze mid-air as visions of their worst fears assaulted them. The ground beneath them cracked open, and massive, shadowy tendrils reached up, twisting and constricting around their bodies. Mind Fog clouded the wyrms’ perception, disorienting them further.
One wyrm, confused and paralyzed by the nightmares, veered off course and crashed into the side of the ravine. Luna unleashed a Nightmare Bolt, the blast of pure psychic energy tearing through the wyrm’s ice-covered hide, disintegrating it into shards of frost.
The fight raged on, the party battling furiously against the relentless wyrms. They had learned from every encounter, each move a calculated response to the ever-growing danger. The swarm of ice wyrms was deadly, but the six worked in perfect harmony, their attacks and defenses synchronized, each one covering the other, using their unique skills and magic to ensure they didn’t become overwhelmed. The ravine was a battlefield of chaos and power, but the six heroes refused to yield.
The sound of the battle echoed through the ravine like a thunderstorm, but the rumbling that now reached the party’s ears carried a new, more ominous tone. Emerging from the icy mists were the Shardscale Behemoths, massive creatures with jagged crystalline scales that refracted the dim light into a kaleidoscope of cold blues and whites. Each step of the colossal beasts sent tremors through the ground, and their breath clouds froze the air into shards of ice.
The party quickly repositioned, instinctively falling into formation. These enemies were unlike anything they had faced—towering, heavily armored, and bristling with sharp crystal protrusions. Every movement from the behemoths seemed deliberate, each swing of their massive claws capable of devastating swaths of the battlefield.
Orion stood at the forefront, his blood-forged armor pulsating with energy as he took a defensive stance. A Shardscale Behemoth swung its massive crystalline claw toward him, the ground splitting under the weight of its strike. Orion sidestepped with practiced precision, his Blood Manipulation weaving spikes around him to intercept the shards that shattered from the impact.
With a roar, he drove his Blood-Forger Blade into the behemoth’s leg, aiming for a vulnerable joint between its scales. The blade pierced through, drawing a surge of glowing, icy blood, but the creature barely faltered. As it countered with a backhanded swing, Orion raised his Blood Shield, deflecting the attack but sliding back several feet from the sheer force.
"Target the joints! The scales are too thick!" Orion bellowed, rallying his team. He surged forward again, unleashing a Blood Wave that momentarily unbalanced the beast, allowing his allies to strike.
Findir darted between the behemoth’s massive legs, his form barely visible as he used Haste to weave through the beast’s stomping attacks. His daggers glinted in the dim light as he slashed at the vulnerable undersides of its feet and knees, his Void Dagger Coating leaving dark trails that ate away at the creature’s crystalline armor.
The beast roared and swept its tail in a wide arc, intending to crush him. Findir leapt, spinning in mid-air as he activated Silent Flight, vanishing just before the tail struck the ground. He reappeared on the creature’s back, his daggers plunging into its spine in quick succession. The beast thrashed, trying to shake him off, but Findir’s Eagle Eye allowed him to anticipate its movements. He jumped clear just as the behemoth reared back, avoiding the deadly shards that erupted from its body.
"Too slow," Findir muttered, landing gracefully and readying his next strike.
Cy braced himself as a second behemoth charged toward him, its crystalline horns gleaming with frost. He roared, slamming his Abyssal Shield into the ground and creating a wall of shadowy spikes that forced the beast to halt. The creature swiped at him with its massive claws, but Cy met the attack with his Abyssal Spear, the collision sending shockwaves through the air.
The behemoth pressed forward, attempting to overwhelm him with sheer force, but Cy activated Empower, his muscles surging with dark energy. He drove his spear upward, wedging it into the behemoth’s jaw. With a guttural cry, he wrenched the spear sideways, shattering a chunk of its crystalline face.
When another claw came for him, Cy ducked low, using his shield to deflect the blow. He retaliated with a Wave of Darkness, the shadowy energy rippling through the air and blasting the creature back. It stumbled, giving Cy the opening he needed to charge forward and strike at its exposed underbelly.
Bella’s fire burned brighter against the backdrop of frost and ice. She stood her ground as a behemoth fixed its glowing blue eyes on her, lowering its head to charge. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned a Wall of Fire in its path, forcing it to halt as the intense heat melted the ice beneath it.
The creature roared, unleashing a barrage of ice shards from its body, but Bella countered with her Flame Shield, the fiery barrier vaporizing the projectiles before they could reach her. She retaliated with a Fireball, aiming for the creature’s face. The explosion staggered the behemoth, and Bella seized the opportunity to summon her Fire Spirits, which darted around the beast, harrying it with blazing attacks.
As the behemoth attempted to swipe at her, Bella leapt into the air, spinning her staff overhead. She unleashed the Will of Flames, a massive wave of fire that engulfed the creature, melting its crystalline armor and leaving it vulnerable for her teammates to strike.
Aisa moved like a wraith, her Ghost Step allowing her to phase through the behemoth’s massive attacks. As one of the creatures swung a claw at her, she disappeared, reappearing on its arm and running up its length with ghostly speed. Her daggers glowed with spectral energy as she delivered a flurry of strikes to its shoulder joint, each one precise and calculated.
The creature roared in frustration, shaking its arm violently to dislodge her, but Aisa leapt clear, phasing through the ground to avoid a follow-up stomp. She reappeared behind the creature, her High Ghostly Presence amplifying her attacks as she targeted its hind legs, crippling its mobility.
