Chapter 1032: Chapter 449: Battle of La-Mesnil Abbey (Part 2)
Once more standing before Guer, Laine felt his lungs filled with the stench of corpses and the sulfurous fire. The Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy gazed at Guer’s towering and formidable figure, realizing the immense courage mere mortals needed to stand before such a terrifying entity.
Around them, the silver torrent formed by knights was sweeping across the left flank of the defenders’ battlefield. Without Guer’s command, a chaotic Undead Legion was collapsing. The astute Laine noticed this, while Guer was lost in his longing for skulls. The Champion of the Four Chaos Gods was oblivious to his army’s defeat, with all his focus fixed solely on Laine.
Guer was trapped in some furious and bloody delusion; even in death, he longed to offer all skulls to Khorne in exchange for the Blood God’s favor. At the end of the blood path, Guer had once received Khorne’s reward, which was his glory and the object of desire for the resurrected undead.
Laine, on the other hand, remained steadfast, recalling why he, a Holy Sanctuary Initial Tier, teamed up with Francois, a Holy Sanctuary High-Tier, could not defeat Guer?
Because of ignorance, he and Francois were completely unaware of Guer’s power. They had no idea what this Undead Warrior was, how he appeared, what strength he possessed, or what protected him.
They knew nothing.
Fear stems from the unknown. When Mogiana revealed Guer’s identity, when the divine power of the Lake Fairy blessed Laine’s weapon, the mysterious veil around Guer was torn apart.
Blue Soul Fire burned in Guer’s hollow eye sockets, spectral whispers lingered at Laine’s ear, while the shouts and sounds of battle around him fell to the wayside. Bright Spiritual Fire burned on the head of his Warhammer, illuminating the surroundings.
In stark contrast, Guer was like some noble yet furious brass storm, spewing lava and Fire Waves. He raised his head; that silent roar plunged those around him into bloodlust and rage.
The battle ultimately began with Guer’s assault, the towering Undead Chaos Four Gods Champion leapt forth in a sudden attack. Laine gripped his Warhammer and roared, as the mighty forces clashed among the many troops.
Exerting strength, charging, until Mjolnir and the black giant axe met, an unparalleled explosion reverberated across the battlefield. Outside the monastery, the ground groaned under the immense force as it quaked and rocked. The tremendous strength forced Laine to step back two paces, narrowly dodging Guer’s pursuit as the sharp black jagged edge grazed Laine’s shoulder armor, sparking slightly.
Laine turned, gathering strength, unleashing it, the platinum-flamed Mjolnir charged for a strike, viciously smashing onto Guer’s chest: "Boom!"
"Ugh!" This was a force capable of shattering steel plates and walls. Under such a blow, even one as strong as Guer was forced to step back, his chest armor shattered by Laine’s fierce assault, and a gap was punched into the blood-red Barosh Armor.
Laine’s eyes shifted, finding that Guer was not invincible after all!
Yet this Undead Warrior quickly launched an even crazier attack on Laine, the black jagged giant axe, sharp as ever after spanning thousands of years, Guer’s figure transformed into a whirlwind of death, nearly swallowing Laine. The heavy weapon in his hand moved swiftly and incredibly; each strike was lethally precise, forcing Laine into a desperate defense against Guer’s attacks.
But Laine was no ordinary opponent. He was no longer the fledgling warrior he once was; spotting an opening, Laine’s eyes flashed with Spiritual Energy. He lifted his Warhammer, winds gathered, and a silver lightning bolt was released from his Warhammer, striking Guer and forcing him once again into a retreat amidst the explosion.
"Spiritual Storm!" Dozens of lightning bolts spread under Laine’s summons, striking Guer’s offensive. The Champion of the Undead Chaos Four Gods was engulfed by lightning, Guer opened his mouth, unleashing his wrath, as the immense impact and damage forced him into retreat. Before he could dispel the lightning, Laine’s Thunder Strike followed closely.
"Bang!" Guer used the black giant axe to fend off Laine’s fierce assault but could not withstand the tremendous impact of Laine’s full-force strike. He was knocked down to the ground, and Laine followed up with a hammer blow aimed at Guer’s skull. Guer rolled away frantically, grabbing Laine’s neck as the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy and the Champion of the Undead Chaos Four Gods fell to the ground together, then rose again amidst their grappling and rolling.
"Spiritual Blade!" Laine’s head and chin were both struck by Guer. His shoulder and arm armor were cut open by the black jagged axe, but Guer was by no means unharmed. The Undead Warrior had a Spiritual Light Spear lodged in his chest, furiously tearing out Laine’s Spiritual Light Spear from his chest, crushing it into shards, then evading Laine’s Spiritual Blade attack.
Before the High Elf ruins, amidst the gleam of night and firelight, in the clash of Warhammer and giant axe, the duel between Laine and Guer continued, with no signs of ceasing in the fierce battlefield.
However, the fight on the left wing was nearing its end. With artillery support, under the relentless efforts of Alaros and Belgar, the Undead Legion, deprived of Guer’s command, was already in disarray. The Desolate Grave Guard Legion, having lost half under the bombardment of artillery, Deep Forest Scouts, Woodland Guards, Dwarf Musketeers, and Veronica’s Magic, could only fight instinctively without Guer’s direction. Consequently, they were picked off one by one; the Tomb Evil Ghosts and Tomb Ghouls were either killed or fled in the bloody storm, while Wood Elf Hero Alaros shot down each undead commander one by one, his actions akin to a Wood Elf song, in the magnificent waltz at least five Tomb Evil Ghost met their end.
