Chapter 82: An old lady in the corner asked me to give you this
Noah felt Michael looked and acted unusually tired. Just from when he tried to take the initiative with him. It was as if he was exhausted.
"Michael," he called after walking up to him as he changed his clothes. He dropped his hand on his shoulder, and Michael peered over his shoulder.
"What is it?"
"Are you okay?" He asked, and Michael turned around.
"Why? I’m fine, though." Michael answered, but his tone was rather lazy than lax, as it should be.
"You must be tired." Noah said, but Michael shook his head.
"A little walk will help clear my mind." He said and put on his coat. "I’ll be back soon, so don’t worry."
Noah walked him to the door and asked him once more,
"Are you sure you can’t just stay home? I’ll go get the vegetables while you rest." Noah asked, but Michael shook his head.
"No, it’s fine. I want to walk. The night must be cold, but I’m not that weak that I’ll catch a cold so easily. And unlike me, you’re a target."
He used that as an excuse to drop Noah from going out, but it wasn’t like Noah didn’t go out on his own a few times.
Michael smiled at him, pecked his lips, and said,
"I’ll be back soon."
Noah nodded and saw him out.
Michael got the veggies as quickly as he said he would, picked out a few things he felt he would need, and started heading back.
He decided to walk.
He needed to clear his mind with a walk, he thought. His mood felt odd. Too odd.
"Is this what they call mood swings?" He asked no one in particular and laughed at it. Why the hell would he have mood swings?
"Excuse me," someone called, and he turned to find an unfamiliar face dressed normally.
"Yes? Can I help you?"
"An old lady in that corner asked me to give this to you." He stretched a note towards Michael, but Michael didn’t accept it right away.
His eyebrows twitched as he wondered why an old lady would want to give him a note--?
"Ah, is it Nana?" He asked, but the stranger did not seem to know who that was.
Michael took the note and said,
"Thank you." The stranger turned around and went on his way.
Michael opened the note right there and saw a few words scribbled down.
"Mich, my dear, please do not trust anyone. The intimidating man... He’s still watching you. Don’t let him get you."
The words made goosebumps run through Michael’s skin. He felt chilly and looked up, his eyes roaming the area in hopes that he would see his Nana.
But he couldn’t find her.
He knew it was her when he saw the nickname she used to call him when he was young. Mich.
’Nana, I don’t understand,’ he breathed out, white cold air escaping his lips. ’Who is this intimidating man?’
It was clear that the intimidating man was a werewolf, but what do they want with him? Why were they watching him? The only werewolf in his life was Noah.
If there was another werewolf who was watching him, the same one who had chosen him as a female and met with his parents, shouldn’t they come out at this point and claim him?
It wasn’t like he was looking forward to being claimed as a property by someone he didn’t even know, he had Noah after all, but...
Why were they watching him then?
The part of him not trusting anyone... What was Nana warning him about?
He was living with Noah only, and Noah was the only one he trusted. Even if he wanted to suspect Noah, it was impossible.
Because the person who had chosen him as a female was the same person who met his parents, and Noah had not been born at the time he was chosen.
Noah couldn’t have gone to meet his parents either.
’Is Nana mistaking it?’ he wondered, but still wanted to keep it in mind.
For Nana to go this far and warn him a second time while hiding, it could only mean that someone was after her and he... Was in danger.
"Should I take Noah and run away from the country?" He wondered out loud, but it was a ridiculous idea.
Just how would he take Noah, who didn’t have a passport and other credentials on him?
He kept walking, minding his steps, and then it was time to cross the road. But it was a red light, so he had to stay still for a while.
Opposite him was a building that had a screen board.
He didn’t pay attention to the screen most of the time, but something caught his attention, and his eyes could not peer away from the large screen. His grip on the bag of vegetables he was holding almost slipped.
He was in disbelief. He was in shock.
On the screen was a live footage of the Lenovo family opening the Christmas mall, and the one who stood with the giant scissors, ready to cut the red ribbon, was Noah.
Noah, they just looked like Noah. They couldn’t have been Noah because Noah was at home. Noah was an amnesia patient and Noah was...
"Ah, it must be a twin." He thought out loud, but he couldn’t stop his heart from beating hard.
He needed to go home right away and see Noah with his own eyes. Even if he knew it was impossible, he still wanted to check. He wanted to see with his own eyes that Noah was at home, waiting for him, and the person on the screen wasn’t him.
But they looked so alike. Their skin, their face... Their hair.
He looked so much like his Noah.
He bit his lip and quickly crossed the road as soon as the lights turned green.
He rushed home, but just before he got there, he felt nauseous and threw up. Luckily, he was able to move to the corner but... Why did he throw up?
He didn’t think too much about it and felt his nerves were just in a stir because of what he had just seen.
He did not put much thought into it; in fact, he ignored it and made his way home right away.
Though it was cold, he was sweating. His heart was racing, his pulse was unstable, and he was out of breath, but he did not stop till he opened his door and Noah turned around to find him out of breath.
"Michael?"
Michael threw the bag down, rushed, and threw himself on Noah, hugging him as his nerves finally began to ease up as he saw Noah with his two eyes and felt his warmth.
"What’s wrong?" Noah asked, but Michael shook his head, saying nothing and just crying.
