Chapter 67: You might be mistaken because I didn’t correct you
Michael knew his mother would not listen to him no matter what he said. She would only stand on the words of her son. The one she treasured was not him, who had suffered for so long because of him.
Mark was innocent? He was kind? That man was a demon. An evil black demon who had been destroying his life for years with no sign of remorse.
And he... He had been the victim. He’s been nothing more, nothing less. The unfortunate victim.
"You seem not to know your son at all," Michael said, scoffing in mockery. "Mark is far from being innocent or kind. He... Is a demon."
"Shut up! How dare you say that about your older brother?" She yelled and raised her hand to slap his face, but Michael caught her hand.
"Mother, I’ll be honest with you." He said. "If you want to live a long and healthy life, you need to throw that ’thing’ you call your eldest son away. He will only repay your kindness with evil."
"Haa, after calling him a demon, you’re trying to spite me against him, huh? You want me to hate your brother? My son?"
"Well, you hate me, don’t you?!" Michael yelled at her, causing her to flinch. "You hate me so much, and I didn’t even do anything wrong. What did I do? What did I say? I have done nothing but try to be good and diligent, but that son of yours flushed it all down the drain. He ruined my life. And even tried to rape me and yet I’m the one being hated here. What?! What did I do to deserve this, huh? Tell me!"
Mrs Rodolfo went quiet, her body slightly shaking as Michael’s words had hit her hard, but she did not want to believe them.
Just because he yelled doesn’t mean his words were true.
She would always stand with her son.
Michael hoped she would at least see the truth and not follow Mark’s words blindly, but he expected too much and only ended up disappointed.
"You will pay for what you did to your brother," She said. "But first, you need to apologize to him sincerely. Since he’s in that state, you’ll be the one taking care of him."
Michael felt blank after hearing her words. He understood it now. No matter how much he yelled, cried, and begged, they would never look away from his brother to see him.
And because he understood this, he would give up.
"I’m done," Michael said and turned around. "I said it before. Words don’t go through to them. I’ve done all I can, but they still won’t see the truth, so I’m done. I think..." He glanced over his shoulder at her. "...the best decision you made was to disown me. I... I am very thankful I don’t have to be a family with you guys anymore. You... Disgust me."
"What did you say?!" His mother flared, but Michael ignored it and walked away. "Hey, come back here," she attempted to walk in, but Noah stopped her. "What do you think you’re doing? Stay out of our business."
"You might be mistaken because I didn’t correct you the first time," Noah said. "But anything that has to do with Michael is my business. Because... He belongs to me." His eyes glinted gold.
Mrs Rodolfo interpreted this another way and scoffed.
"I see. So you two are in ’that’ kind of relationship." She said with a sarcastic tone. "Whatever you two do is none of my concern. I’m going after my son, so don’t dare to stop me."
"Your son is not here." Noah said. "You removed his name from your registry, remember? He’s mine now."
"Stop your nonsense. I said I don’t care what you homophobic people think. I need to talk to my son." She said, but this got Noah angry.
"I’ll tell you the truth." He said. "Two weeks back, was it? Does that ring a bell?" It was two weeks back that Mark got what he deserved, and she felt he was talking about that incident.
"You... Were you also involved?" She asked, her forehead creasing more than usual, but Noah did not answer her and continued speaking.
"Your favourite son called for Michael, and they both met up. It was at that time, at that place that your favourite son, whom you adored so much, decided he wanted to dive into the world of homosexuals." He said, but she did not believe it and yelled.
"You’re lying. You’re making this up." Her eyes weren’t red in anger. "I know you’re in this with Michael. Tell me, did you both plan this?"
But Noah did not answer her and kept talking.
"Your favourite son decided who his target would be. And do you know who that was? It was Michael. That night, Micheal almost got raped by the innocent and pure son you so much adore. It was thanks to me that he was able to escape. If not, what had happened to that bastard would’ve happened to my Michael. He got what he deserved for trying to touch and destroy something that didn’t belong to him." He glared at Mrs Rodolfo. "I don’t know what his condition is, but... He should be thankful he’s still breathing with all limbs intact."
That sounded like a threat, but it was so clean from his voice, and it sent chills down her spine.
"Have a nice life, and I thank you for giving birth to my Michael. Goodbye." He shut the door in her face, and she flinched.
She was completely speechless. What did she just hear? He said he saved Michael? Then... That meant he was the one who caused that to happen to Mark.
But if Mark had planned such a thing... She gagged with the urge to throw up... No, it was nothing. They must’ve misunderstood him. They planned this to make her go against her precious son.
She would not hear of it.
"I will not rest until I bring you to justice. Mark my words!" She yelled and left there.
She would use her connections to make sure she put Michael in prison for what he did to her son. A prison that was similar to hell. Right after he apologized to his brother.
Noah heard her words from behind the door, his eyes glazed dangerously, and he glanced at the room door where Michael had gone.
He walked towards the laundry room, closed the door, turned on the washing machine to use the vibration sound as a cover, and then made a phone call.
"Do something for me." He said, his eyes glowing dangerously. "I need you to take out a few ’fleas’ for me. They’re getting on my skin way too much."
