Chapter 66: Mrs Rodolfo’s storming visit

They woke up that morning to the loud banging on their door. It didn’t seem like it was a delivery person or the land lady since that was too much commotion, so Micheal decided to look through the door scoop, only to find his extremely pissed mother there.

She was the one causing this commotion so early in the morning.

So, since he didn’t pick up her call anymore, she decided to come here and cause a scene.

And all for what? For that bastard.

"What are we going to do about this?" Michel asked Noah. "At this rate, she’ll really break down the door."

"She’s not that strong."

"Oh yeah? Then she’ll keep banging until the landlady shows up and I’m put in trouble." Michael said, causing Noah to think for a while.

"Will you let her in then?" Noah asked. "We just need to listen to what she has to say, even if it’ll be annoying to you. If she doesn’t want to listen to reason, then we’ll kick her out."

"Easy for you to say," Michael said, brushing his neck. "Do you think it’ll be easy kicking her out?"

"I’m sure I can manage."

Michael twisted his lips, looking at Noah, who was so relaxed about this, and sighed.

Guess there was no other way. His mother was causing quite a scene.

"Then I’ll let her in." He went to open the door, but Noah placed a hand on his shoulder, stopping him.

"Wait, I’ll do it. You can just wait till you’re ready to see her." He said, and Michael nodded, folding his arms.

He went to open the door. If this woman was as unreasonable as Michael said, then it was possible that she would hit him the moment she saw him, so he would be the one to let her in.

Surely, she wasn’t that unreasonable that she would end up hitting a stranger.

As soon as Noah opened the door, he saw Michael’s mother. An aged woman wearing a Pearl necklace, pearl earrings, and a fur coat.

He didn’t know if she came here to flaunt her wealth, but that was definitely not what a person who was worried about her son would wear.

"May I help you?" Noah asked, and this woman, Mrs Rodolfo, got stunned.

Who was this man with an imposing presence? Wasn’t this her Michael’s house?

Had she been knocking on someone else’s door all along?

No, she was sure this was Michael’s house. Even Mark had confirmed it.

"I’m looking for Michael Rodolfo," she said, and Noah asked,

"What is your relationship with him?"

For him to ask that meant he knew who Michael was, so Mrs Rodolfo concluded that this man must just be living in Michael’s house for the meantime.

"I’m his mother." She boldly claimed, and Noah’s eyes went slightly dark.

"Really? How so? Last I heard, Michael had been disowned. So why would his ’mother’ come find him?" Noah asked, his tone cold and oppressive to the point that she had to bite her lips to keep her cool.

"This is a family matter and has nothing to do with a stranger. So, if Michael is in there, tell him to come out. I need to talk to him." She spoke calmly.

"If you had spoken like this from the beginning, I might’ve believed you came here to ’talk’ but for someone who had been banging nonstop and causing a scene, it’s clear you don’t have Michael’s best interest at heart." He said, and she flinched, getting annoyed by his intrusion.

"I told you that this has nothing to do with an outsider like you. Get Michael here right now." She demanded, and Noah glared.

Sure enough, she came to cause trouble.

He glanced over his shoulder at Michael, who was behind him, and wondered if he was ready to see her now.

"Since it’s none of my business, I guess you can just talk, since that’s all you came to do. Tell me what it is and I’ll pass on the message," he said, but Mrs Rodolfo wasn’t pleased with this setting.

"Get out of my way. This is my son’s house, so I don’t need your permission to enter," she said, and wanted to push her way in when Michael stepped into view.

"That’s not necessary." Michael said as he stepped out, and she stared at him, surprised.

"Are you... Michael?" She asked. Why did he look so different from the last time she saw him? He looked younger and... Fairer?

"It seems you indeed erased me from your life, given you couldn’t even recognize me." Michael said, and she snapped out of it.

Of course, it was Michael. Did he do surgery or something?

"I don’t know what you came to find, but you don’t need to enter my house to speak. So, tell me. What do you want?" He asked quite rudely, but his mother did not care. Her agenda was more important.

"Haa, you finally decided to show your face, you ungrateful brat," she spat out hatefully. "Tell me, how could you do that to your brother? How could you set him up like that? Were you angry that we disowned you? Unsatisfied with the severance fee? How could you think of something so evil and ruin your brother like that?"

Michael watched her as she threw her accusations at him. It was disturbing.

"Firstly, I’d like to know exactly what I did that you’re accusing me of." Michael asked. "As far as I’m concerned, I haven’t done anything to him."

"Stop denying it. He said it. He said you set it up." Mrs Rodolfo yelled, her eyes red with anger and tears slowly welling up in them.

"He said whatever he wanted to say, but did you come here to simply throw those accusations at me and not hear what ’I’ have to say?" Michael asked. "You’re so convinced that he’s the victim of whatever happened to him, but have you considered if I might’ve been the victim and whatever happened was because his plans backfired?"

"That’s impossible!" She yelled. "There’s no way Mark would plan such a thing for his own blood. He’s an innocent and kind soul. He would never. You... You’re the evil one who has been jealous of him for so long. Because your life is a mess, you wish to ruin his life as well. You’ve succeeded. You... How could you?!" She began to beat Michael’s chest as tears rolled down her cheeks. "How could you be so cruel? How?"

Michael quietly took the beating, asking himself how he had lived with such a family all his life. He... Was truly an unlucky child.
