Chapter 175: He’s a nuisance

Steven pretended to just notice Noah and then walked closer.

"Oh my, what a coincidence." He said. "What is the great Alpha of the blue moon pack doing all the way here in Manchester and in front of a day care?"

"Steven!" Noah called, his breath hitched underneath his clenched teeth.

"Oh my, does that mysterious daughter of yours go here as well?" He asked, keeping up the act pretty believably as he looked in.

"What are you doing here?" Noah asked.

"What does it look like in doing?" Steven grinned as he asked, a smirk spread on his lips. "My boy goes here. Josh, say hi to this mister."

At that moment, the cute little boy turned his head, revealing his emerald eyes and soft expression.

He looked at Noah and shyly turned his face away.

"H-hello." He said.

"Oh, please don’t think of his actions as rude," Steven said. "My boy is... A little shy."

While Noah was facing Steven, Michael had gone to take a look at the parent-teacher meeting (PTA) that was posted on the wall to remind the parents who came to drop their kids off.

He took a look and then wondered,

"Why didn’t Olivia mention this?" But as soon as he wondered about that, he recalled that he hadn’t exactly shown an ideal image during the last time he went to her PTA meeting.

He decided to go ask the teacher about it, unaware of what was going on close to the car with Noah and a man he had never met before.

"Let me ask the teachers about this."

A teacher was standing at the entrance so Michael went to ask her for details concerning the PTA meeting.

"Um, excuse me, can you tell me when the date is scheduled?" He asked her.

"Oh, that’s actually next week." She said. "Didn’t your ward tell you about it? This information was given out about two weeks back."

"No, she didn’t," Michael said and then looked at the flyer.

Was he unreliable now that Olivia decided not to tell him about something like this?

He squeezed it and sighed.

"Thank you." He said and turned around, that’s when he spotted Noah talking to the white haired man carrying a child.

He was shocked.

How was it that Noah was already talking to someone here? Did they know each other?

He walked towards them but as he got closer, the white haired man laughed and then turned, taking his child to the entrance.

As he walked past Michael, he glanced at Michael. And Michael, who was looking at him the whole time, met eyes with him.

He had such beautiful emerald eyes and was handsome too but... He had never come across this man when dropping off Olivia. Who was he?

"Michael," Noah called, and Michael turned to Noah, who was looking a bit agitated.

He hurried to him and asked,

"What’s the problem? And... Who was that?"

"He’s a nuisance," Noah said, brushing his face in frustration. "To think he would make his way here. How is he so cunning?"

"What do you mean?" Michael asked, not able to get things clearly. "Should I be worried?"

"No, you have nothing to worry about. I’ll fix everything before you even know it."

But Michael was concerned. What brought about ’fixing’ when there was nothing wrong?

He glanced back at the white haired man handing his kid over to the teacher at the front. She was blushing.

He was Italian, Michael could tell.

But then what was he doing here?

He gave Michael a rather familiar feeling and a thought crossed his mind.

"Alpha." The words slipped out of his lips before he even realized it, and Noah’s eyes widened, looking distressed.

"How did you...?"

"Ah!" Michael had his hand over his mouth, nearly covering it, but was more surprised by what he had uttered. "I don’t... I don’t know." He said and looked away. "I guess he just smells that way. I’m also confused."

Noah wasn’t sure if a female was able to identify other Alphas but the fact that he could tell Steven was an Alpha when he knew nothing about him made him feel uncomfortable.

What did this mean?

"Let’s not put any meaning into it," Michael said, grabbing his ahem as he felt the unease in his countenance. "We’ll assume it’s the same ability Olivia has to be able to know something just by the smell, okay?"

Still, Noah gritted his teeth.

He hated that Steven was even bearing his family, especially after he brought up that ridiculous proposal about an arranged marriage.

What was even more infuriating was what he had said before he walked away.

"My boy is... A little shy." Steven had said but Noah was not very okay with this.

How was it that Steven, who was based in Italy, was in Manchester, and not just that, his kid was going to the same school as Olivia?

He smelled a rat.

A rotten one.

Steven had definitely followed him but then why didn’t Sebastian let him know? Or did he avoid Sebastian’s radar?

Sebastian did say he left the country, but never specified where he went.

This was so infuriating and he was clenching his fist, trying to hold back from sending him back to where he came.

Steven watched the veins on his hand crawling hard and his fist twitching to get a hit and this made him laugh.

"You’re such a readable book, Alpha Noah." He said. "But even then, what can you do? You can’t tell me to change my kid’s school just because you don’t want me close to your kid," he laughed a bit more. "In fact, I think it’s ’fate’ that both our kids go to the same school. You’d never know, they may actually be each other’s first love and want to spend the rest of their lives together."

Noah immediately grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off his feet, choking him despite their surrounding. He was angry and his eyes were flashing gold, as if he would turn into a werewolf and rip him to shreds.

But all that was an imagination. He couldn’t exactly do that in front of his kids’ school, and he definitely couldn’t allow the little boy in his father’s arms to be traumatized for life.

He took in a deep breath and said,

"I don’t know what you’re planning but I won’t let it work."

Steven turned around, taking his child away, and said these words,

"Sure. Do what you must. But at the end of the day, our kids will build their own future."

He meant he wouldn’t intervene much but he had his hopes up.

After checking which school Olivia was going to, he enrolled his boy the day before and let him sit in class.

Everyone loved him.

Not just because he was smaller than the rest of them, he was cute and nice and even if he was shy, he was very smart.

Who wouldn’t like a child like that?

He was certain that Olivia, like many other little girls, would fall for his son. And that was why he was using no underhanded tactics or giving his innocent boy a mission.

All he needed to do was sit there and look adorable.

"It’s the perfect plan," Steven said to himself as he entered his car but he had miscalculated a little.

He didn’t know Noah’s daughter’s personality and had no idea that she was unlike every other girl.

So, instead of her falling for the adorable little new classmate, it was the other way round and before she knew it, she had a secret admirer.

Olivia was a good kid. A pretty and attentive kid who could teach the class if she were given the chance.

While the teachers were away and the kids were left to play with themselves, she was given charge to make sure no one caused trouble.

There was a class captain but he was only the class captain because he had been in the class before her. She transferred halfway through the session.

But she was more competent.

Even the class captain listened to her.

And because of that, everyone had eyes on her and all their questions went to her.

And watching this competent child who was apparently younger than him, Josh’s eyes began to sparkle.

His emerald eyes, which everyone admired and envied, only looked at her.

When the other kids tried to know everything about him by asking all sorts of questions, he would stay silent, his eyes twinkling in Olivia’s direction.

So, they decided that the only one who might be able to get him to talk was their dependable Olivia.

"Why do I have to ask him questions?" Olivia asked the three who had come to plead with her.

Two girls and one boy with a snotty nose.

"And Tommy, did you forget to bring your handkerchief again?" She asked and Tommy nodded sadly. "Sigh. I’ll lend you mine, but you have to stop forgetting, or you’ll get your snort everywhere. It’s unhygienic."

"I... Alright." He answered and then they went back to the topic after he blew his nose.

"Now, why do you want me to ask the new kid questions when he doesn’t want to answer them?"
