Chapter 146: To unify the packs, an arranged marriage is needed
After Noah landed in Manchester, he knew it was only a matter of time before Sebastian followed his tracks.
And once he did, he would come and drag him back to Italy.
The times weren’t as tumultuous as they were in the past five years and most of the issues had been taken care of, so he was free but not completely. There was still a rather pressing issue that needed completion before he could tell himself that he was a free man and no longer had the shackles of war weighing him down and threatening his happiness.
The negotiation with the red moon pack.
During the span of five years, Noah was able to defeat the elders, get rid of that circle, and claim absolute dominion over his pack.
That took him no more than two years, since weeding the roots of those elders was no small task, and they did not hesitate to fight back.
It was a tough battle, but he came out victorious, ending the life of his father with his own hand because his father refused to surrender or be held in custody.
It would be a disgrace to him as the former Alpha.
It was a tough decision to make but Noah made it regardless. He had no affinity with his father anyway.
He was more like a man who was in control of his life and making all the decisions for himself.
He was no more than a stranger.
Noah had his priorities straight. He would rather cut him off than have to prolong this fight, thus becoming a stranger to his own daughter.
At this point, Noah thought it was over and wanted to finally reunite with Michael and their child but one of the elders who had sneaked away during the battle had formed an alliance with the Lycans.
The Lycans had no reason to work with the elder but the elder provided them with a lot of information and made it seem like they could take advantage of the shaky grounds under the pack.
If they struck now, they could definitely get rid of the blue moon pack.
That was the start of the second war Noah had to fight.
He was fighting this war along with the company he had to run and preventing backstabbing from the executives. He also needed to make new progress to win the trust of his workers.
He needed something innovative to raise the stocks and not let their competitors take advantage of their current weakness.
There was just so much to do and so little time.
He wished to minimize the amount of time it’d take to fight the Lycans as well as stabilize his position in the company so he decided to ally himself with the red moon pack.
Once enemies, now allies.
They say, An enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Having the Lycans as a common enemy, the red moon pack and the blue moon pack allied their forces to finally get rid of the Lycans that were making trouble in their territory.
It was a temporary alliance but the combined forces were able to stand their ground and claim victory.
After the overwhelming victory, it was time for the red moon pack to collect their spoils from the war.
Since the alliance aided the blue moon pack more, making it seem like the red moon pack came to their rescue, it was inevitable to throw in a preposition that would suit the red moon pack and create a ’bond’ between the rival packs.
And that was the issue they were currently tackling.
The red moon pack was demanding too much.
Territory that belonged to the blue moon pack, rights to operate in their turf, and so many other absurd demands that gave them an edge over the blue moon pack, as if they were reigning over them.
During all this, an absurd idea came to Noah’s mind and he proposed a unification of the packs.
If the packs were unified, forget the rights and territory, they could share everything and be one. But then if this happened, who would be the Alpha?
There could only be one Alpha.
The red moon pack perceived this as a declaration of war and thought Noah was trying to take control over everything now that their only enemy was gone.
But, contrary to this, Noah just wanted to stop this aimless fight and finally reunite with Michael.
Was that too much to ask?
"Alpha Noah," the Alpha of the red moon pack, Steven, having long white hair that he tied into a ponytail and green eyes, stood before Noah, looking at him with sheer contempt. "We’ve been rivals ever since we were born," he said, "And I believe you know that it’s impossible to simply abstain from one’s position just because the other ’politely’ asked them to, right?"
"I never asked you to abstain from your position." Noah said. "What I asked for is the unification of the packs. Aren’t you tired of all the fighting and turf wars? If you’re not, I am. I am absolutely tired and want to stop it all."
"And you think a unification can stop it?"
"Yes."
"How?" Steven asked. "That suggestion will bring about another war." He had a serious expression as if he was suggesting that he did not want a war, but if Noah wanted to wage one, he would fight with an equal standing.
Noah had not thought that far. Definitely, there could only be one Alpha, and he... He did not want to be the Alpha anymore.
But it would be a disgrace to his pack if their Alpha threw them off to merge with another pack and dropped out of his position with no struggle.
He did not do all this just to put his pack in disgrace. There has to be a way that didn’t need both of them to kill themselves.
Steven watched his silence and then sighed.
"You don’t even have a child, how do you plan to make a wager without any war if you don’t have the safest and most peaceful way to cause a unification?"
Noah looked up at him, shocked.
"What did you say?"
"My God, do I have to repeat my words? Don’t tell me you aren’t paying attention during such an important discussion." Steven said.
"It’s not that I did not hear you. I just need you to repeat the part about me having a child. What does my having a child have to do with this unification?" he asked, his tone as cold as always, but it felt a lot colder.
"What do you mean by that? Don’t you know the basis for these things fall into place with marriage?" He asked and Noah’s eyebrows twitched.
Sebastian looked at Noah, knowing that word would’ve triggered him.
"I have a son who’s over five years old. I don’t know if you can get a daughter, but if you did get one, then we could arrange a marriage between both of them and..."
Noah released a burst of energy, threatening everyone who felt it but as a fellow Alpha, Steven stood his ground and fought the energy with his own.
"Is this you declaring war?" Steven asked, a maniacal smirk on his lips. "If you want to have a go at it," he released his claws, "...then I’ll take you on right now."
"Don’t you dare lay your eyes on my daughter." Noah suddenly growled, confusing Steven.
Was he getting mad for a daughter he had yet to have?
And how was he so certain he would have a daughter?
Wait, that reaction... It couldn’t be...
"Haha," Steven laughed, covering his face. "And I wonder why you were putting in so much effort. You..." Noah’s energy slowly died down. "You’re in love." He said confidently, without a doubt. "And I’m guessing the product of that love is a girl, right? I’m right, aren’t I?"
Noah did not say anything. He ended up revealing the fact that he had a daughter to his rival.
But it didn’t matter. He couldn’t even track down their location, so Steven couldn’t do so if he wanted to.
And if anything did happen to them, he knew who he was playing with anyway so he could fight fire with fire.
"You want to unify the packs but don’t want your daughter to be involved. What a caring father you are." Steven chuckled. "But I understand your concern. You’re scared your daughter will fall into some sort of power struggle, right?"
"I’ll say it once so listen closely. My daughter has nothing to do with any of this so keep it to yourself. If you want to get your son engaged then that’s your business. Leave my daughter out of it."
That was the conclusion of things but Steven had found a new goal.
After all, the integration of the packs would serve a good purpose. He wouldn’t have to worry about a lot of things. And since they were leaving the future of it to their offspring, he felt it was only natural that his son would take the reins since he was a boy.
So, even if he doesn’t rule, his son would definitely carry on what he couldn’t carry on.
But the only issue here was... His son was just too shy.
He was soft and quick to tears but he loved him regardless. He knew his growth would come someday, and he would man up. For now, he was letting him be a kid.
These were the events that happened about two days before Noah got little Olivia’s message and escaped the country to Manchester, having no idea that someone was already watching his movements.
"Now, shall we see the daughter of the mighty Alpha?" Steven chuckled. He was carrying his son in his arms.
A cute little one with plump cheeks, white hair, and beautiful emerald eyes. He looked smaller than his age but he was definitely five years old.
He was the offspring of the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. Samuel.
