Chapter 141: It all worked out for our good

From everywhere across the nation, there were loud chants for the countdown to the new year.

"Oh boy, it’s the new year already?" Marco asked.

"Gosh, the time flies so fast." Luke said, scratching his head.

"New year, new beginnings, guys." Ramon said, throwing his arms around their necks.

"New year, new beginnings." They yelled, and a thunderous happy New Year echoed, followed by beautiful fireworks being shot up from the yacht.

"Happy New Year," Michael said to Noah in a sweet voice, the sound of the fireworks and the lightning in the sky reflecting on his blue eyes.

Noah swiped his hair back and then caressed his cheek, looking into his eyes affectionately.

"Happy New Year, my love." He said and then leaned in, kissing his lips and marking the start of the new year.

The others saw this and looked away. They could only mind their business.

"Well, it’s alright. It all worked out." Roland muttered and then took out his phone. "Hope she isn’t beating herself up too much. Let me send her a text."

Alyssa sat on the floor, hugging her knees and watching the fireworks through the window.

"Thank goodness." She muttered.

Her phone was right next to her with its screen on and the message Roland sent was on display.

Everyone was safe. No one died.

Sebastian, disguised as Noah, stared at the fireworks with a champagne in hand and then sighed.

’I guess it all worked out well,’ he thought and then sipped the Champagne.

The new year, Michael so desperately wanted to spend with Noah, finally came, and they spent it with a kiss.

A warm and beautiful kiss.

The next morning, Michael woke up in bed with Noah.

He stared at Noah’s face. This felt a bit unreal. When was the last time he woke up with Noah by his side?

’I’m sure of it though,’ He thought, reaching his hand towards his face. ’This will be the last time.’

"Good morning," Noah said, startling him. Was he awake the whole time?

"G-good morning." Michael said and disregarding the fact that they just woke up, Noah kissed his lips.

They had a rather heated night, so Michael should still be asleep, but the excitement did not let him sleep long, and so he woke up early.

"You’ll sleep more on the plane, right?" Noah asked and Michael nodded. "So, before then," he flipped over and was on top of Michael. "Let’s go one more round." He suggested and certainly, Michael would not say no to that.

He hooked his arms around Noah’s neck.

He got ready soon, and then a knock came on the door.

"Sir, it’s time to leave." It was Alyssa. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Michael opened the door and found her fine. She had been wounded by the rogues but it seemed like Doctor Ro had worked his magic.

"Are you alright?" He asked and Alyssa nodded.

"Yes, sir. Thank you for asking." She said, but it looked like she was still dwelling on a bit of guilt for not being able to protect him.

He patted her head and smiled.

"It all worked out for our good." He said and she nodded.

Michael knew Noah couldn’t see them off for so many reasons, so he turned around to hug him one last time, but Noah hugged him first.

He hugged him so hard that it was as if his aim was to crush Michael’s bones.

"I’ll miss you." He confessed and Michael nodded.

"Same here. But let’s be strong." Michael said, brushing his fingers through his hair. "Only when we’re strong can we overcome this together."

"Yes." Noah said. "Then," he released the hug and kissed Michael’s lips. "...I’ll work hard. I’ll do my best and try my hardest so we can reunite as quickly as possible."

"Yes, you do that. I’ll wait for you. Along with..." He placed his hand on his belly. "Our baby."

Noah got on his knees and then dropped his head on Michael’s belly.

Of course, he wouldn’t hear anything since the baby was still so small but he was able to feel the energy of the little one.

It got him emotional and he bit his lip in regret.

Michael pursed his lips and looked away, trying to stop himself from crying.

If he watched any longer, he might end up throwing a tantrum about wanting to stay. So, it was best to leave now that his heart was already resolved.

"Let’s part ways here, Noah." Michael said and held his hand, helping him up to his feet. "We’ve wasted a lot of time and... Those bad people might be on to you."

"It’s fine." Noah said, cleaning the tears he had in his eyes. "This entire area is under my control. Even if they find out I have a lover, it would be too late to act because you’d already be gone by then." He smiled sadly.

"Hey," Michael dropped his hand on his face and caressed it softly. "Don’t make it seem like I’m going to die somewhere. This is only a temporary parting. I’m going on a vacation." He laughed. "So, smile."

Noah managed to smile, and then Michael turned around to leave, but as he left, the smile on Noah’s face faded, and he began to tremble.

He cried but he wasn’t the only one crying. Michael was too.

But he tried to smile till the end.

They got in the car and headed for the airport.

"We’re here." Roland announced, and they got down, taking down their luggage, and Michael stared at the airport.

He was really leaving.

But he was leaving with no regret.

After all, he already did all he wanted to do.

Now, it was up to Noah to deal with the rest.

(So, we’ve reached the end of the first Volume. Thank you all for staying this far. I am so glad and emotional and... Currently recovering from my illness but all good, haha. We’ll start the next volume right away. Hope you love it.)
