Chapter 131: Did they know his identity?

Doctor Ro returned to the house, but as he approached the front, he got a rather familiar scent in the area.

The scent of rogues.

He frowned and kept walking, only to discover the door was open.

He frowned and walked in to find Alyssa crouched on the floor, holding her stomach, which was bleeding quite a lot.

He hurried in and took a look at her stomach first. Her complexion was terrible.

She had lost too much blood and it looked like she had been paralyzed as well.

"What happened?" He asked and she looked at him, distraught. "Hey, speak up. What happened here? You’re paralyzed but your lips can still move."

"I..." Tears slid down her lips instead and Doctor Ro flicked his tongue.

She was always running her mouth. Why was she so quiet now? He knew she was wounded but she had to say something for him to know what was going on.

"I guess I’ll treat you first." He laid her down, tore off her shirt, and disregarded the fact that she was a woman.

She didn’t react. Whether it was because of the paralysis or because she had lost her will, it didn’t matter. So long as she did not complicate things, he was able to stop the bleeding to prevent her from dying.

Alyssa felt so many emotions at that moment. Shame, grief, regret, and disgust.

All of that was from her inability to be a perfect guard and help the one she had been assigned to protect. The mate of their Alpha.

She felt so overwhelmed by these emotions that she thought it would be best to give up her life to make up for her mistake.

But then, a hot slap rang across her face and her eyes widened.

Her eyes rolled towards Doctor Ro, who had slapped her, and she found a hateful expression on his face.

"What?" He asked. "You feel regretful so you think it’s okay to just die?"

How did he...? She didn’t even say anything.

Doctor Ro had seen that look in her face countless times to understand what she was thinking and planning to do.

He usually wouldn’t care but for this girl who was so stubborn that even with her eyes wide open, she failed to see what was in front of her, he felt he had to lecture her on the ’truth’ once again.

"It’s not okay." He said and continued with what he was doing. "You don’t get to decide that. Instead of thinking of repaying with your death because ’you’ think that it’s most suitable, think of how to get that guy out of the mess he is in right now, and then he will get to decide if you get to live or not even after such a blunder."

Doctor Ro said no more words and continued patching her up. Thanks to the paralysis, she could not feel anything, so she did not feel any pain from the wound of how he had treated her.

She stayed awake, his words ringing in her head and reminding her that death was not her choice or a punishment that she could decide.

Death was an escape from her responsibility, as well as the punishment she was supposed to receive.

Dying was no punishment or atonement; it was an escape, and she had come to see that.

"Phew," Doctor Ro cleaned the sweat from his forehead.

Who would’ve thought he would be sweating on a cold day such as this?

He looked at Alyssa’s face. That expression of defeat was gone. Thankfully.

She was such hard work.

"I’m done. You’ll start heading real quick." Doctor Ro said. "So now, tell me what happened?"

Alyssa began to regain her movement. First, her fingers moved, and then her wrist, but it was only that for now.

"It will take a while to get over the paralysis." Doctor Ro said but Alyssa felt desperate to move already. "You’re so stubborn." He said to her. "You can’t move, and you’re still wounded, so why do you want to force yourself? You’re being so foolishly stubborn right now."

"I know." Alyssa said, tears rolling down the corners of her eyes. "It’s because I was powerless and I... I know."

Doctor Ro frowned. If she was going to say what happened, she better do it now before it was too late.

If his guess was right, the rogues took him. But he was certain the rogues did not see his face that day and didn’t even know where he lived, so why did they come for Michael?

Did they know his identity?

Judging by how they came to kidnap him without an uproar, they probably did.

"I was powerless." She dug her fingers into the ground, her claws coming out and digging into the tiled floor.

And judging by how they got this strong-headed werewolf without giving her a chance to fight back, they probably threatened her with Michael.

And in that sense... he glanced towards the door... Michael was the one who opened the door.

(Let’s have a quick replay, shall we?)

"Are ya the man they call Michael?" He asked and Michael’s eyes widened, recognizing that tone right away.

What... What was this rogue doing at his house?

How did he even find him?

"Sorry," Michael spoke up, looking at him cluelessly. "There’s no one by that name here."

Michael thought that if he could pretend that the person they were searching for wasn’t there then it would be fine. They would leave and he would have time to get away in case they planned to come back.

"Hm, is that so?" The rogue leader brushed his chin, contemplative. "I coulda sworn this was da place."

And it looked like he did not know Michael’s appearance either so this was fine.

"I guess I’ll go tell em I didn’t see Michael." The rogue leader said and then turned around.

Michael’s hand had begun to sweat. His heart was racing in anxiety.

They just needed to leave. Once they leave...

But then, the rogue leader began to cackle.

"Is that what ya wanted me ta say?" He asked and then grabbed Michael’s arm. "I know just what ya look like, ya little shit!"

Alyssa wanted to take action.

She did not move for the duration that Michael talked to the leader because she wanted to believe he had a plan that would be safer than her rushing in to protect him, but it didn’t work, and now he was in their hands.

"Let him go!" She yelled.

"Ah, a little puppy was in da house." The leader said. "But ya see," he grinned. "I’m da one with da privilege here."

Since Michael was in his hands, if Alyssa acted out of line, she would be putting him in danger.

"If ya don’t want me to hurt him, ya better stay there."

"What do you think you’re doing? Let him go." She raged but couldn’t even take action mindlessly.

"Whatcha gonna do about it?" He snickered and then snapped his fingers.

Two of his men walked into the house, sneering at Alyssa.

"What do you think you’re doing?" Michael asked. "It’s me you’re after, right? You don’t need to do anything else."

He was scared, and shaking since this was a rather dangerous situation. He didn’t want to die, and something told him he wasn’t going to die, so he wished no one else died in his stead.

"You’ve got me, so don’t hurt her."

"Nah, she’ll definitely come after us." The leader said, and then gave the go-ahead. "To make sure da rat doesn’t follow the scent of da food, ya gotta stop it in its tracks. If ya don’t resist," he said, addressing Alyssa. "We won’t hurt da boy." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Alyssa gritted her teeth and wanted to fight back, thinking she could make it in time to save Michael, but then she found the leader’s claws on Michael’s neck, ready to dig into his neck and rip out his throat.

Which was faster? His hand? Or her fight against his guys?

She would clearly lose and Michael might die.

Her job was to protect him and make sure no harm befell him. So, she could only stay still and take a claw attack across her belly.

"We won’t kill ya since I never go back on my word. There’s paralysis on Brown’s claw, so ya won’t be able to come after us, so stay there like a good kiddo."

Michael watched Alyssa gritting in pain. If she stayed like that, she would definitely die but Doctor Ro would be back soon. He hoped Doctor Ro would come as soon as possible to save her.

He did not wish for Doctor Ro to save him because he knew that as long as he was in the clutches of the leader, there would be nothing anyone could do.

So, he hoped Roland would show up as soon as they were gone, for Alyssa’s sake. And maybe then, he could notify Sebastian and her people to save him.

In the meantime, he would like to find out how these rogues knew about him and his house.

’I bet all my fortune that Rhaeger has something to do with this.’

But how Rhaeger figured it out, he did not know.

He would just have to stay calm and find that out while in captivity. His only wish was that these men would not try to use him to bring Noah down.

Anything but that.

He didn’t want Noah to get hurt because of him.
