Chapter 117: Fate was so mysterious

After their quick round, Noah took Michael to the bathroom where they had their last bath together. This time, it was really the last time.

"I made a reservation." Noah said as he helped Michael dry his hair.

"Huh? How were you able to make a reservation? Today’s Christmas." Michael said.

Usually, everywhere would be booked.

As soon as Michael said that and saw Noah’s smile, realizing he wasn’t a normal person, he turned his face away and said,

"I shouldn’t have asked."

Noah laughed and then wrapped his arms around him.

"It’s alright." He said. "I didn’t use my identity to make a reservation, so it’s not that if that’s what you’re thinking about."

He kissed Michael’s cheek and Michael held his arm.

"Then, how were you able to make the reservation?" He asked but his lips were sealed by Noah’s. He just couldn’t stop himself from kissing Michael.

They kissed a lot during sex but it looked like it wasn’t enough for him. Each time his eyes fell on his lips, especially when he was pouring, he was so compelled to kiss him, and why stop himself, right?

"I used Sebastian. He has a lot of connections." Noah said.

"Hm, he seems very reliable. Only..." He recalled how the scar scared him a bit and shuddered. "He’s a bit scary."

"Is he?"

Michael could tell that there was a story behind such a scary man but he couldn’t even tell because he hid everything behind that plain and cold face, always looking so strict and professional.

He was intimidating.

This suddenly made him recall what Nana said. She said an intimidating man was watching him. It was the same intimidating man who had chosen him as a female, and the same man who came to their house.

And she warned him again about the intimidating man through a note, as if she was watching him and knew that he was watching him.

There were just so many things he couldn’t pinpoint. He didn’t understand how Sebastian was the same man who chose him as a female. Wasn’t he supposed to be advanced if that was the case? At least 50 or so? But he looked so youthful as if he wasn’t aging at all.

Was it because he was a werewolf?

"Noah, I have a question," Michael said.

"What is it?"

"Is there a specific person in charge of the female selection in packs?" He asked and Noah paused, looking at him surprised.

"Yes, how do you know that?"

"Ah," Michael looked away a bit.

There were so many things he couldn’t get but one thing was why it was a person from Noah’s pack that chose him as a female.

Then, did that mean that he was originally chosen to belong to Noah? Did Noah know about this? Did he know he was the Alpha who had abandoned him?

Well, it was just his assumption.

And given how he had no reaction except how he looked surprised, he didn’t know.

"It’s alright." Michael said.

Whatever it was, it looked like Noah did not know that he had been the female chosen for him from the start.

The one presiding that was probably Noah’s father since Noah hadn’t even been born then. So it wasn’t Noah’s fault that he had been abandoned.

Rather, it seemed like fate brought them together, right? Though it did seem rather cruel that they were getting separated like this.

Fate was so mysterious.

It was either that or Nana had mistaken it somehow. But there’s no mistaking that scar, right?

"The one closest to the moon goddess and knows her will do the selection." Noah explained.

"So is it like a priest?" Michael asked, relaxing his back on Noah’s body.

"No, we don’t have priests in our packs. But we have soothsayers." Noah said. "We currently don’t have a soothsayer in the Blue Moon Pack, but we have someone closest to the moon goddess who carries out her will."

"Hm? Who’s that?"

"Sebastian." He answered.

Since Sebastian had stopped aging and had a very, very long life ahead of him till the moon goddess decided he had fulfilled his purpose and taken him into her grasp, he was tasked with carrying out her will.

He could feel a female’s energy even before they were born, and so, as the moon goddess’ will, he could even choose a child that was yet to be conceived.

He doesn’t know what that’s so and just carries out her will.

He can’t question the moon goddess either. But there was a question he wished to get answers to.

Why does the moon goddess keep pushing these females into condemnation? As it was a sort of condemnation to be chosen as a female for the blue moon pack that only cared about conceiving heirs.

He wondered if she cared about the fruitfulness of the pack, rather than the humans who did not originally believe in her or know of her existence.

He thought he would receive divine punishment for his blasphemy and he was ready to receive it as it also seemed like he had broken his vow and was questioning the Alphas that he served, but surprisingly, that night, he got a revelation and was visited by the moon goddess in his dream.

She was marvelous.

A ray of light that he could not look at with his naked eyes so he kept his head bowed the entire time as she spoke.

"My child who serves me with his whole heart and being and has never once questioned me, I have come to tell you that I have seen your heart. All beings are equal before me. It is only a matter of the ’one’ who will change the fate of this pack will appear. So persevere and keep serving the Alphas as you have sworn."

It was the first message he was receiving directly like that in over a hundred years since he swore to be a shield and sword for the Alpha.

And because of that, he continued to do as he was told to. Led by the spirit of the moon goddess, he chose the candidates for the female selection, waiting until the ’one’ finally showed up.

Sebastian looked into the distance, his mind drifting slightly and then he closed his eyes.

Was it finally time? He wondered.

’So he’s indeed the one who chose me,’ Michael thought. ’Nana wasn’t mistaking it.’

Noah noticed how Michael was thinking on his own but wasn’t saying anything regarding his thoughts.

"Is something the matter?" He asked but Michael shook his head.

"I just feel maybe we were destined to be." He said, smiling. "You and I, hehe."

Noah looked at that carefree smile on his lips and also smiled.

Yes, maybe they were initially meant to be. That was the only explanation behind their bizarre encounter and then the way they fell in love out of the blue.

"It’s fate." He said, pressing his head on Michael’s. "You are I, our fate must be tied."

"And it’s pretty tight too." Michael added and laughed. "And because of that, I’m sure that it won’t be long before you come back. Fate brought you to me so it better bring you back soon." He said. "I’ll even pray to the moon goddess, if I have to."

Knowing Michael would go so far for him made Noah glad at heart.

"Alright."

"Oh, right. There’s one more thing I’d like to ask. And after that, I have a confession to make."

"A confession?" Noah looked at him, wondering what the confession was about.

"Yes. But I’ll ask my question first." He said and Noah nodded, ready to answer whatever question he had. "Who was it that set the fire that killed my parents?"

Ah, the question was so out of the blue that Noah didn’t even know how to start. He didn’t think Michael would ask that out of nowhere. But he guessed he’d still feel curious.

"You said you didn’t mean for it, and it got out of hand, so that means someone interfered, right? You know who it was, right. Well, who was it?" Michael eagerly asked.

"It wasn’t someone from my pack." He said. "It was my rival."

"Your rival."

While Noah and the Blue Moon pack had a lot of enemies, especially the Lycans at the top, there were still other packs that were after their success. And then there were the rogues that often started a rebellion after doing illegal dealings in the shadows.

Noah was way too lax during the time he was with Michael and had regained his memories, so his movements were being monitored without his knowledge.

While the people watching him didn’t understand what he was doing there, they found it a good opportunity to attack and destroy whatever he was trying to build.

The one who was keeping a very close eye on Noah was the Alpha of the Red Moon pack, the pack second to the Blue Moon pack.
