Chapter 112: I don’t like his smell
They took the cab back to Michael’s house, and as they got out of the cab, Alyssa kept her eyes on Doctor Ro, who looked at the building as if it was nothing impressive.
He was surprised, though, but it did not show on his face.
He just didn’t expect that an Alpha’s Female would be living in such a shabby place. Well, it was better than his place, at least.
It did make him suspect that he might be a trap for him, but unless Michael expected him to suddenly plan an ambush for him on his way back, there was no way he could’ve set this up.
So, this was definitely his residence.
He took out a cigarette since he was feeling so cold and he was sure Michael wouldn’t mind him smoking in his house since he didn’t say anything all along.
But was the Alpha really here? What Alpha would wait in this shabby place for his female?
He wasn’t sure there was any Alpha in their country who was this low level? Then was it a small pack Alpha? If so, would they be able to afford his money?
’They better not play me.’ he thought.
"Shall we start heading in?" Michael asked and Alyssa tore her gaze from Doctor Ro, nodding her head. "And Alyssa, please let me do all the talking."
Alyssa did not know why he said that but she decided to follow his lead and nodded.
"Alright." She said and he smiled.
He had a plan.
They headed into the building and as Michael opened the door, Noah, who had heard his footsteps from afar and was eagerly waiting at the door like an impatient kid, wrapped his arms around Michael.
"Welcome back." He said and the surprise on Michael’s face melted.
"Mm," Michael said, wrapping his arms around him. "Did you miss me?"
"Of course I did. I..." He paused as he caught the wife of smoke and then the strange smell on him. Who...?
He turned his head, and his eyes fell on Doctor Ro, whose cigarette fell from his mouth as he stared in shock.
"Hey, that’s dangerous!" Alyssa yelled at him and quickly stepped on it but Doctor Ro was beyond speechless.
This person, no, this Alpha, wasn’t he the Alpha of the biggest pack in the country? A stone-cold man who was born with a cold heart, they said.
But what was this stone-cold Alpha born with a cold heart doing smiling and hugging his female, saying cliche words like, ’I missed you.’
’Hah,’ he was in disbelief to the point he couldn’t move. What was this? It was either he was only just putting up a front in front of the media and was actually a warm man.
No, he wasn’t sure. The Blue Moon Pack had a long line of cold-blooded Alphas, and this man was no exception, but why was he like this?
This was the first time he was thinking so deeply about something like this, about someone else. That was how shocked he was.
But didn’t this mean he had hit the jackpot? If it was this man then he would definitely be able to pay up triple, or maybe four times more.
"Who is that?" Noah asked, his gaze falling coldly on Doctor Ro. "I don’t like his smell. He’s a rogue, isn’t he?"
Michael didn’t know how Noah was able to guess that he was a rogue but he was right.
There was this unpleasant smell around Doctor Ro. Maybe that was how they were able to tell Rogues apart from werewolves.
"This is Doctor Ro," Michael decided to do the talking. "But before I go into details, let’s go in. I’ve been out for a while and..."
"Ah, right. Sorry," Noah said, pressing his lips on his forehead. He was indeed cold. "Should I prepare a bath for you to warm up?"
"No, that’s fine. Just turn up the temperature a bit." Michael said, walking in with him, but Doctor Ro stood there, struck with yet another unbelievable sight.
Just now, an Alpha apologized to his female. And not only that, that sweet and tender kiss he planted on his female’s forehead... Just what was going on here?
"Hey, why are you just standing there?" Alyssa asked Ro and then had this delighted smirk like she had suddenly won a bet. "You came this far on your own so you better be prepared. Don’t forget, you nearly got our Alpha’s female kidnapped so you should prepare yourself for the worse before even thinking of walking out of here with your money."
Ro stayed silent. Ah, that was right. He did do something like that. Well, whatever. He wouldn’t die anyway.
He entered the house and then his eyes fell on Sebastian. It made him pause for a moment. Their eyes met and he thought,
’Seems like I might die.’
"What’s that?" Noah asked as he helped Michael take off his coat and dust off the snow, seeing the little paper bag he carried.
"Ah, I bought some books to read and also," he searched the bag and took out the two journals he bought, smiling at him. "I got the journals."
Seeing this, Noah’s heart melted and he took one.
"I’ll never fail to write on it." He said.
"That’s you. I think I’ll be too lazy to write down every single day." Michael said and Noah laughed.
"Yes, of course I know you well." He sat down with Michael sitting on him. "But don’t forget to write down all your memorable experiences. I... Even though I won’t be there, I want to know what you’ve been up to."
They couldn’t even talk on the phone, so it was torturous.
But he knew Noah would find a way. Some way.
"Noah," Michael called, whispering into his ear. "Do you not want to hear the results concerning the test?"
Noah pursed his lips. He wanted to know but at the same time, he didn’t want to know.
He felt that the delay was helping him stay by Michael’s side a little longer. And that once Michael told him the result, he would be forced to start taking action.
"You don’t have to worry about anything." Michael said, hugging him. "Let’s take it slow."
Noah sighed and nodded.
"Yes. Then, should I assume it’s positive?" He asked and Michael nodded.
"Yeah, it’s there." He said with a low voice like a whisper. "There’s a baby, alright. You succeeded in putting a baby inside me. You should be proud of yourself."
But Noah did not feel proud. He felt emotionally unstable, his mind filled with worry and anxiety. He was ashamed, rather.
That he had done something like this and wouldn’t be around to take responsibility.
He grabbed Michael’s arm and buried his face in it.
He was so ashamed that he couldn’t even bring himself to look Michael in the face.
"Come on, don’t be a big baby." Michael said, brushing his fingers through his hair. "If you act this way, how do you expect your child to act?"
"A smaller baby." Noah muttered and hearing this, Michael burst out in a wild laughter.
He didn’t expect it. He didn’t expect Noah to say something like that. Just how was he planning to raise a child if he had a mind like that?
How was he planning...to raise their child?
"It’s okay," Michael said and held him even more passionately. "I’m sure they’ll understand."
"I’m sorry, Michael. I’m really sorry." Noah began apologizing again but Michael shook his head.
"Don’t apologize. It won’t do anything." He said. "So, instead of apologizing, try to work harder so that you can come back to my side sooner."
The others simply watched in silence at what looked like a shameless PDA but it seemed rather painful to watch.
The tone of their voices sounded affectionate but had lingering bitterness as they held back the words they desperately wanted to say and only said the thing that the other would smile at. The words that they wished would make up for their mistakes.
While Sebastian understood this perfectly, though still not used to it, Alyssa thought it was rather sad, and Doctor Ro felt like he had entered the wrong house at the wrong time.
Should he just come back later?
"Okay, enough of that. I need to tell you something." Michael said, his gaze traveling towards Doctor Ro. "We were almost ambushed." He said and Noah’s eyes widened.
"What?"
"Hm, should I say we were and not almost? Anyway, they were Lycans." He added, and this got Noah feeling unsettled, but given that Michael was narrating this so lightly, it seemed like things were taken care of more smoothly.
"What happened to the Lycans?" Sebastian asked, his eyes shifting to Alyssa, wondering if she had taken care of them but she shook her head, refusing to speak until she was told to speak.
"The doctor took care of them." Michael said. "He was with us when the Lycans ambushed us and he’s very skilled at throwing hidden weapons, so I thought..." He paused, glancing at Alyssa and hoping she wouldn’t go ahead and ruin his plan. "...it would be better to have him around. Noah, I want to hire this rogue doctor for a long term. Can I do that?"
"What?!" They all exclaimed in shock, including Doctor Ro who seemed so nonchalant all the time.
Why wouldn’t he?
Michael had just said the most absurd thing without even asking him first.
Was this his aim from the beginning?
