Chapter 109: I don’t trust this guy

Michael gulped. He felt hot from the tension. He brazenly made that offer based on his speculations but whether the doctor would take it or not, it probably depended on his mood.

"You said you’ll pay triple?" Doctor Ro asked and this caused the people in the shadows to sense a problem.

There would be a serious problem if Doctor Ro decided to turn against them at that moment. So, before they could escape, they decided to take action and get the female right there.

"Oh no, they’re coming." Alyssa said as she felt a rush of energy towards them.

There were over three of them, and they seemed skilled, but as they shot out of the shadows, Doctor Ro took up three scalpels from his pockets and threw them with sharp precision, stabbing the back of their necks at once.

It was a flawless throw. It was as if he threw hidden weapons at them and killed them in an instant before they even realized what was going on. He was close to the level of an assassin.

"Alright then," Doctor Ro adjusted his coat. "I’ll take you up on your offer."

Alyssa and Michael stared in shock.

Just now, did that lazy doctor just kill three Lycans without even moving from his position?

He was amazing and dangerous.

How is it that such a dangerous person was simply working as a doctor? He hated the job.

"Don’t look at me that way." Doctor Ro said, understanding the look in their eyes.

They were questioning how he was a rogue with such skills and why he was putting up with a job he didn’t like.

"There are rogues who want to work a decent job and not live like outlaws for the rest of their lives."

’But you hate your job.’ Michael and Alyssa thought, still confused.

"I can say I’m as skilled in taking lives as I am in saving them." He said but Alyssa looked at him with doubt written on her face.

He was a quack doctor, she believed.

"Anyway, many rogues have one sob story or the other so don’t just judge because they’re rogues."

"Hm, you’re talking awfully much for your character." Michael said and Doctor Ro went silent.

’Yeah, I guess I am. Pathetic.’ he thought and shook his head, tucking his hands in his pocket. "Alright, I’ll lead you home so I can get my pay. You said triple so don’t even think of going back on the agreement."

"Says the man who sold his patient out." Alyssa said, looking at him in disdain. No matter how she looked at it, he was the worst of the worst.

"I won’t talk more on that. Just, lead the way."

He was tired.

’I just need to collect the money and I’ll be off. I’ll drink a lot tonight and forget there’s a tomorrow.’ he nodded to himself. ’I’m rich as of today.’ he kept nodding to himself, swimming in his delusion.

Alyssa leaned over to Michael and whispered,

"I don’t trust this guy."

Michael leaned in to whisper as well.

"Someone who can be bought with money is definitely not trustworthy, but he’s definitely skilled enough, so we don’t have to worry about getting attacked."

"Hmph," she folded her arms in satisfaction. "I’m just as skilled so we don’t need him."

"Excuse me but I can definitely hear you." Doctor Ro announced and then moved, away, awkwardly clearing their throats. "Also, can we get going now?"

"You, you sound so confident." Alyssa said, pointing her finger at him. "Have you ever thought about what our Alpha would do once he found out you sold his female’s information to the Lycans?"

"Yeah, that’s such a hassle but I took care of them in the end, did it not?" He asked and yawned, scratching his neck. "If it wasn’t me, it’d have been someone else. You’d have been in danger no matter what so I think saving you and taking out the threat is enough to rid me of whatever accusations you throw at me."

"It’s at the expense of our pockets!" Alyssa yelled at him.

"And that’s why I helped." Doctor Ro said, causally taking out a cigarette pack from his inner pocket and taking out a stick. "Rogues never help for free, you know."

"You..." Alyssa was boiling furious.

Just how was he so shameless?

"Calm down, Alyssa. He has a point." Michael said. "And we can’t exactly fault him since it seems his behavior is normal around the rogues." He added. "Since Rogues don’t have their loyalty tied to anyone or any pack, it’s only normal to expect something like this. They will get swayed easily wherever their interest lies so having the upper hand is the most important thing to secure. If we have the thing that temporarily holds their loyalty, then we win. It’s as simple as that."

"Aye, that one gets it." Doctor Ro said, taking in a puff of his cigarette and letting it out. "Now, hurry up and lead the way. I don’t believe your Alpha will be ungrateful for my help and try to get rid of me. If he tries that, I’m aiming for your neck first." He threatened and this triggered Alyssa to charge towards him.

No matter how she looked at it, this man was too dangerous to leave around Michael.

"Alyssa, stop..."

But Alyssa charged for Doctor Ro, letting out her claws, and then disappeared from his sight, only to appear behind him and try to claw him, but he simply took a step back and avoided her claw.

She was quick, and it was fairly hard to watch her attack, but it was not impossible.

Ro had keen eyes so of course, even if it was an elite werewolf, he would be able to take them on.

He took out his scalpel, planning to finish her off with a clean slit on her neck.

As a doctor, it was easy for him to know the precise location to target on the neck for it to lead to an instant death and that was what he was going after.

He just needed to get the female back to his Alpha. Their agreement has nothing to do with his bodyguard.

He was about to go for the kill when Michael groaned loudly in pain.

"Urgh, it hurts."

This caught their attention and the quest to get each other’s necks halted immediately.
